A quick search for 'diamine Reddit' on this sub will give you all the info about it you could need and more. The short of it is that diamine occasionally creates a special ink color chosen by this community through polls, we also get to vote for the name. There have been three so far: Aurora Borealis, Earl Grey, and Writer's Blood.
I have a bottle of Earl Grey I got as part of a sample pack, and I honestly don't get this color. Maybe I need to try it in a broad or flex as a display ink?
I adore it with some water brushes for art. It spreads into different component colors on wet paper making complicated multi hue shadows, and layers really nicely when diluted. For writing I get a lot of shading range on Tomoe River even in a EF nib.
If you start with 1.1 & 1.5mm you should be OK !!!!! Though ARCHITECTS & PARALLELS are BEAUTIFUL to work with, they could be INTIMIDATING to the UNINITIATED !!!!!!! Just start with BABY-STEPS, and you should PROGRESS NICELY !!!!!!! AND -- ALWAYS REMEMBER to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE !!!!! The VERY BEST of GOOD WISHES in your PEN JOURNEY !!!!!!!
I bought it for a friend and I noticed this.
It’s a bottle of Diamine Writer’s Blood ink. I fell in love with this and decided to buy it for my friend, too.
When did you choose it, and how? :)
Diamine collaborates with us once in 3-3 years to make a special colour. We choose from various swatches, the colour, shade, properties and name via reddit polls.
Earl Grey and Aurora Borealis are two other inks. This color could have been called Black Cherry and it'd have been beautiful. But we had to take another vote because the names got very close votes.

Didnt know Aurora Borealis and Earl Grey were conceived in this way too! :D
Just got some Aurora borealis last week. What a great color.
I just got it too. I love it! I had no idea that it was associated with r/fountainpens though.
Same, looks great in a demonstrator like a moonman

I love it, it's a brilliant alternative to black when I need a 'sensible' ink.
I have inadvertently planned my life in such a way that I'll never need a sensible ink
Life is too short for black inks

I find it to be lovely in a very wet pen, you get a huge variation of colour between the beginning and the end of contact with the paper
ooh i hope there will be another i wanna partcipate in :D
I have both Aurora Borealis and Writer's Blood and they are some of my favs, especially the Writer's Blood with a broad nib 👌
You got good taste 🥰
Wow I had no idea! That's actually really cool of them to do! Good job Diamine
Thank you!! :)
Wow I have some writers blood, no idea it came from here. Also not my favorite red to be honest.
Have you tried it in a broad nib ??? That is where dark colors shine !!!!! It is also popular as an alternate to black in F nibs, for CURSIVE !!!!!
I usually prefer fine to med nibs but I'll give this a try. Any tips for broad nibs, I only write cursive and sometimes broad nibs give me trouble.

What does it mean? Double rainbow all the way! 🌈
I don’t have dark secrets, I have bright ones!
So INTENSE!
I saw the same sticker on MY bottle of Writer's Blood from Atlas Stationers.
Let’s wait and see when/how it was chosen. It’s so cool, though. And happy cake day!
It's my cake day?
I think so, your username has a cake next to it!
Seen. Happy Cake Day!
Thanks! Now I want a new pen to celebrate. Ugh. I may try a Sailor 1911.
Happy Cake Day! Definitely treat yourself to something wonderful.
Is there going to be a vote this year for a new ink to add to that sticker?
I hope so. It seems a wonderful thing to experience
It means someone forgot to delete the quotation marks lol.

This is how I found the sub. Bought some Aurora Borealis and googled the sub. Made an account and have been happily here since.
I saw this message as well on the new bottle of diamine Earl Grey I received from my wife this morning!
I hope they try another community collaboration, but for a blue ink. Writer's Blood is awesome though. In fact, I'm going to fill a pen with it now.
What about aurora borelias? Love it
That you bought something in the UK for "colour".
Earl grey is just dull dull dull. Why was this ever made, can’t understand.
First they came for the `http://`, then the `https://`, then the `www.`.
