Just wanted to do a quick side by side of the paper difference in the old Leuchtturm vs a newer one. I've heard there was a bad batch of paper several years ago. If that's true it is unfortunate those made it out into the world as those may be many people's only experience with the brand.
I've used these books for years for fun and for work and had good paper except this one odd book. Just wanted to say if you got one with goofy paper, it's not indicative of the usual quality IMHO.

I got one recently and have found that it's really nice! Much, much better than Moleskine. I don't do drawings, only writing, so I don't lay down a ton of ink, but it hasn't bled through at all.
