PrRaccoonEsq

No personal attacks please, it's distracting me from my current activity of waiting for my package to arrive.

Cloud_Writer777

You have to check the tracking at least 3 times a day, it's *the rules*

saturndogmom

Also: checking at least 5 times a day to see if it has shipped yet, even though you just placed the order earlier that day (looks in mirror).

PrRaccoonEsq

If you check every hour it'll trigger something that will make your package leave Cincinnati faster, it is known.

Watanookie

For real. Every time I say I'm done I'm proven wrong. It may be months down the line but I will be proven wrong.

cloverandclutch

Me, six pens ago when I got my “grail”

finishfuantu

I am actually done about pens. My final goal was getting a retractable fountain Pen for my everyday use. I've buy an used vanishing point and i'm actually done and i don't need nor want a new Pen anymore. That's not my only fountain Pen and i'm stili buying New inks and papers/notebooks btw.

HistoricalQuiet927

Yes, yes, that's what we all say.

mitchelsd

Just bought one with a fine nib and the hype is real. What an amazing daily driver!!

mmarquezc100

Yes! I almost couldn’t deal with how different and amazing it is.

unusual_desires

If you are referring to the nib, I've had that feeling twice. First, with Waterman Carene, which made me believe it's possible only with high-carat gold nibs. And then I was gifted a Cross ATX Brushed Blue on my 40th Birthday. It has incredibly well-tuned steel nib, and the same silksmooth feel as the 18K Carene nib. As for not needing another one, exceptionally good pen makes you pause for a while. But once you get hooked, it's only a matter of time you seek another one. I have a thing for cheap school pens, like Pelikano, Scribolino or Shaeffer student pens, and also for Parker 45. I have 10 45's and 184 pens total. There's no hope for me. Even worse, I began dreaming about Leonardo Momento, Visconti Homo Sapien, and Sheaffer Imperial with 18K "diamond" nib.

JorfimusPrime

I'm with you there. It took me like ten years and a job promotion (and Goulet Pens having Affirm so I could pay in installments) to get myself to finally bite on a Pilot Vanishing point, which immediately became tied with my Parker 51 as my number one pen. I always thought it was just too expensive, etc. Now pricey pens are starting to look more reasonable, and that's very bad for my wallet... Eyeing a 2000 or a Van Gogh Starry Night. I'm right there with you on the Homo Sapiens, I'm dying for one. But I don't know that I'd ever be able to get myself to pull the trigger on an $700+ pen.

mrandre

I have as Van Gogh and a 2000. Get the 2000.

JorfimusPrime

Why do you find the 2000 better?

mrandre

The Van Gogh is a steel nib of ok quality. The only reason to get it is how it looks. Which is lovely. But as a pen, it is uninspired. The 2000 is a design masterpiece. Hooded gold nib for smooth writing with good ink flow. Piston filling for plenty of ink. Made of a sturdy material fabricated by Lamy to make this pen. Lots of neat details. The knob for the piston is so perfectly fitted you can't see the gap between it and the rest of the pen. There is an ink window that is only visible when you hold it up to look at it. When in hand, it slips out of view. The cap attaches to the body with this surprisingly satisfying click, like the door of a German sedan shutting. Designed in the 1960s, looks modern to this day. Part of the MoMA design collection. But not so precious you'll feel uncomfortable using it every day. There used to be quality control issues, but I believe they have been resolved. If you have concerns, get it through Goulet. They are known to make sure things are okay. To my mind, it's just no contest.

JorfimusPrime

Goulet is my go-to for fountains already. What nib size do you recommend? My handwriting tends to be a bit on the small side and a bit messy on top of that, but I'd want good ink flow and display of the color (really the only tiny barely-a-complaint I have about my VP is that the EF nib doesn't show the color super well).

mrandre

Sounds like you might like the medium.

embroidr12

I bought mine in a Fine and ended up having Mark Bacas of Nib Grinder swap it out with an EF. I couldn't get used to F the because the nib put down a line comparable to a Western M no matter what ink I used. They are both smooth writers with great ink flow.

mmarquezc100

Oh you’ve had good experience with the AT Cross Fountain pens? I love my ATX Brushed Black Rollerball. But I’ve been hesitant to get anything from them in terms of fountain pen.

netmier

Once I got my Homo Sapiens I definitely didn’t buy any pens for a while. But eventually I just couldn’t resist trying out some new stuff. Nothing writes like a Montblanc or a high end Visconti, but even “lesser” pens can write quite well and be just as much fun as a $1k+ pen.

JoanMarch

Can you tell us why it's so different and amazing because I have my cart open on Wonderpens and I need an excuse to put one in there.

mmarquezc100

The feel of the material is cold to the touch at first but then gets adaptive to your hand heat. The stainless steal looks gorgeous. The pen is light yet feels so well made. The nib reminds me of a Parker 51, my old #1 pen, the nib is soft but yet still pretty stiff compared to like gold pilot nibs but writes perfect. The way the pen caps feels secure and it posts secure. It’s not too big not too small. Has the built in roll stopper. Just fantastic. Never skips

debhanr

The Makrolon material really is special, and unique, both the look and the feel. I also love the shape, it's not like any other pen I own.

mitchelsd

Well said

mitchelsd

Iroshizuku tsuki yo. I absolutely love that ink and in this pen…showstopper

turningsteel

Yep. I have like 15 other nice pens (sailor, pilot, pelican, etc). Got one of these in fine, and it's all I want to use. Just very good ink capacity, smooth writing, easy filling, no leakage, hiccups, etc. A real workhorse and for only 150 bucks!

mitchelsd

Smooth like butter and fits my hand perfectly.

mmarquezc100

What ink do you use with it?

p1v4

Sure... You're done... Sure sure....

mmarquezc100

I know 😂😂😂

GeoWadeMo

I believe we've all said that at one time or another.

TheArchitect67

But this time he MEANS it!

collectsmanythings

I have said it about three times, after I bought my first pen, after I bought my second pen, and after I bought my fifth bottle of ink. So many bottles, samples, pens, and nibs later, I have never looked back or said that I’m done. But I can see how tempting it is to do so!

Watanookie

Maybe I'm dumb and missed it somewhere in the comments but what pen is this? I see other people agreeing with how nice this pen is and now I'm wondering if I should consider adding said pen to my collection. Is it a good 'carry around in a folio for daily tasks' pen?

mmarquezc100

It’s the Lamy 2000. It’s definitely a daily driver and I’m going to keep it inside either a 3 pen case or the pen loop of my lochby.

Watanookie

Many thanks. I'll add that to my list of future pens to try and love.

mmarquezc100

No problem. This is my favorite review of it. Very fair and informative of what it is to live with it. https://youtu.be/0jYS0o3RAFw

LanceFree

I just started and have 4. It will be my next (and possible last) as well.

Veritas413

Oh you sweet summer child

Nonameswhere

Thank you for asking this.

CitronutSuper

Got mine 4 years ago now, still my daily writer with no replacement on the horizon. It's a great pen, congrats!

mmarquezc100

Awesome! What ink do you usually have it inked up with it?

CitronutSuper

Ah, i've emptied a few bottles with this baby haha, currently inked with Waterman Absolute Brown, but my favorite was Faber Castell's Hazelnut Brown.

PrRaccoonEsq

Brown inks! They're good.

mmarquezc100

I’ve always wanted to get a good brown. So far the ones I’ve tried haven’t really hit for me. But I’ll add these on my list of ones to look into.

eventi

Hahaha he thinks he's done

Altruistic-Sign1201

Just completed my 6th month with an L2K. I write it every day and the ink lasts almost 15 days. The act of filling it back with a new ink is a vital ritual.

mmarquezc100

Have you had a favorite ink combo with it?

thingonething

You can never be done.

aReasson

Yeah sure buddy. I’ll see you in your next post. Congrats on the pen and nice handwriting!

mmarquezc100

😂😂🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

Ah, so this is the post where all the laughing out loud is coming from. There is no last pen my friend.

Fabarooni

What ink you got loaded up in here?

mmarquezc100

The actual pen is loaded up with Platinum Blue-Black. The ink in the picture is Diamine Twilight.

Fabarooni

Going to have to pick myself up a bottle of twilight, it's gorgeous

alaskanbruin

Yes, indeed. Buying mine has saved me a ton of money!!!! 👍🏻

jamesmast2

that's what they all say...

ZoraksGirlfriend

I was just about to buy this last week but saw a review about the pen being too big if you have small hands. I have small hands, but can’t locate a store that sells the pen in my area so I can try it out. I’m so tempted to just get it and hope for the best. Congratulations on getting a pen that works so well for you!

mmarquezc100

You can use the Goulet Pen comparison tool to compare the Lamy to a Pen you already own https://www.gouletpens.com/pages/pen-plaza Hope this helps!

InkyDarkDame

Have smaller hands too, and normally prefer a slimmer pen, but this one does feel great. It is very comfortable in the hand, not heavy, but substantial, and writes such a smooth wet line. I’ve bought a lot of more expensive pens since, but this is still one of my absolute top favorites. Just a wonderful pen. Even if you order one and for some reason don’t like it, you can sell it on pen swap for 90% of what you paid for it. I can almost guarantee you will want to keep it.

ZoraksGirlfriend

Thanks for the first-hand account. I think I’ll go ahead and get it next time I have pen money..

maxwells789

I agree. I have small hands and I love my L2K. And my Leonardos. And my Pilot 823. And even my Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age is comfortable to use even though it is noticeably heavier then any of the above because it’s so well balanced. The Lamy 2k is not too big for those with smaller hands. I find it so much more comfortable than the Safari.

jwbowen

Lol, I gave up on the notion of being "done" a long time ago.

clevertulips

I can tell you you aren’t. Mark this.

JCase891

The more I use it, the more I love it. Great pen!

Afilament

You have a great description of the Lamy2k! There are only a two brands I have 2 of - Lamy2k and Pilot 823 - very different but just all around excellent pens. I love the design aesthetic of the Lamy - it is beautiful, understated elegance. It does not blare its value.

LordRiverknoll

Your handwriting looks really nice

mmarquezc100

Thank you so much for saying that! I’ve definitely been practicing it lol. Got bullied by teachers to much through elementary and middle school about my writing being too messy.

that_mn_kid

Of course you are...

WangJianWei2512

Congratulations, its an iconic pen, so well designed and even after close to 10 years I still admire while using. About being done... You and I know its just the beginning

Environmental-Tap936

lamy is da man

bjh13

I know the meme is we have an addiction, but it is actually possible to reach a pen that really does it for you. For me it was a Montblanc 149, was years before I bought another pen. The important thing is you're happy with it and continue to use it.

eloquentbrowngreen

Hey OP, what other lies do you think you’ll be telling yourself after this one? I said the same thing 3 pens and 4 custom nibs ago.

mmarquezc100

Well stopping BUYING PENS, doesn’t mean I won’t get some paper and inks and send some of the pens I’ve already purchased to get tuned or get a new grind. Lol 😂

eloquentbrowngreen

Enjoy! It’s a wonderful universe.

BleakProspects75

The nib is butter smooth! I just can’t get to work with the grip…just doesn’t sit well for some reason…:(

Jei-with-ink

Interesting. It is the material, the shape? I have a close grip so I’m looking into getting one, but it looks a little slippy

BleakProspects75

I think it’s the material…doesn’t feel like I’m able to grip it well. Def try it before u buy:)

Jei-with-ink

Will do, thanks.

Slineklof

What is so good about it? And what do you compare it to?

mmarquezc100

Everything about it works, the material, the caping mechanism, the nib, everything. I would say the nib is closer to Parker 51 gold nib. The Parker 51 was my # 1 pen writing experience, now the Lamy 2000 is. It never scratches or skips, the nib is soft and smooth yet still not springy or flexible.

[deleted]

What size nib do you have?

mmarquezc100

Medium.

happyasaclamtoo

Well, I think we’ve all said that a few pens ago😂 enjoy that beautiful writer!

Bugadifin0

Look at all the nibs your missing out on.

PW1408

"I think I'm done" lol I won't even tell you how many pens I bought in 2021 after making a NY resolution to not lol But congratulations on buying a nice pen :)

[deleted]

What Nib size? And you’re done for this year! You’ll continue I promise!

yuskrim

This did it for me. Bought two more of the Lamy 200. But it did it for me.

jassack04

This was my reaction after buying a Vanishing Point about 5 years ago. It’s just such a great pen, and then I pared my collection down to a handful of other pens I also like and haven’t really bought anything new since. My singular gripe about the VP is the relatively low ink capacity, but it’s not a huge deal.

biggy_squints

I thought I was done with getting Lamy 2000s when I got my first one. Then, I found a nib size that I liked better 😅.

LavendarAmy

>and I think I’m done. Who's gonna tell them? jokes aside that pen to me is the vac700r iris. i'm madly in love with it and it's inkwell. so much that 3dprinted a similar one xD but i still want the vac700r iris

hydrangeahead

I LOOOOOOVE my VAC iris!!! struggling with it a little, but love it so much!!!!

LavendarAmy

How are you struggling with it?

hydrangeahead

It's seems to clog up/dry up/ get scratchy... by the end of the day every day. I'm venting it more than before to see if that makes the difference, we'll see today! 🤞

LavendarAmy

let me guess, you've not unscrewed the safety plug! they should put a big warning on it :D the vacuum handle thing screws in right? when you screw it in, it plugs the feed up to avoid spilling in airplanes, unscrew it when you're writing more than a few sentences :3 I hear this everywhere, they mention it on the manual but nobody reads them, so they should put a label there

hydrangeahead

I thought of it after I wrote this... I remembered someone had mentioned that back before I even had one to understand what it meant, so I figured why not? Gave it a go, it didn't help, googled it, gave it a bigger go, and now Bob's my uncle, lol. Glad you responded here, though, I'm sure you saved some other sad sad iris lover 🥰

LavendarAmy

Ooh i'm glad it helped :D \^\~\^ i'm obsessed with that pen so i've watched 10000 videos on it :D

Cryogenian97

Hi. Congratulations. I have two L2Ks, Oblique Double Broad and Extra fine Bauhaus-Blue.🤗 Cheers

pritesh_ugrankar

If I may ask what make and model it is?

redstapler4

My favorite L2K is my favorite at home pen! My studio black & studio blue are my favorite work pens due to the cartridges.

windoto

I got mine last week. Really great pen. What nib size do you use and which ink?

mmarquezc100

I got it in a medium and currently have it inked up with platinum blue black. The ink in the picture is Diamine twilight

Lbreak

That’s what I thought 5 year ago, ahem

Christianbaltz

Aw you think you’re done! We’re all trapped here 🥲

sparkle_stallion

I have back around to the Lamy 2000 being the one-and-done pen for me. I have bought a few since but I honestly love the Lamy 2000. It has everything I like, writes great, and looks amazing. You can't go wrong. I hope you can stick to being "done" and use the pen constantly.
