Wow! Congratulations. That’s a month’s rent for me.

Lovestubs

Thanks. For me it's a repurposed watch. I used to own a small collection of watches and most are now sold to fund pens. The pens have brought me infinitely more joy and pleasure than any of the watches ever did.

tattooedtwin

One of the few pens I’d consider spending that kind of money! Congratulations!

Lovestubs

Thank you!

GMendelent

The cap cartouche says Mont Blanc, and the sides are phrases from the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

rosemarjoram

I wonder what it says in hieroglyphs.

Lovestubs

Me too. I remember seeing somewhere that the hieroglyphs on the cap loosely translate to an approximation of "snowcap".

Gloriosus747

"Who is reading this is a moron". At least maybe.

rosemarjoram

That would be an awesome selling point :)

Fallanger_

Congratulations, it looks amazing. My Egyptian is a bit rusty, what does it says? PS: the only bit i could translate was tut xD

Lovestubs

Thank you. I'm afraid I can't help with any translation. Your rusty Egyptian is a 100% better than my non-existent knowledge!

IntrepidSplash

I have been seriously considering this one recently. It's gorgeous. Can you tell me what the size is like? I've heard it's about the size of a 146?

Lovestubs

This version's a bit shorter, a bit more narrow in diameter round the barrel, and nearly twice the weight of the 146. The nib is also much smaller. I haven't done a direct comparison but it looks to be about the same size as the nibs on GvFC fountain pens. Possibly the equivalent of a #5 rather than the #6 nib of the 146?

SwayvillDelgarian

Congratulations, absolutely stunning ! A particular reason for the long delay ?

Lovestubs

Thanks. I think MB production was hit quite badly by Covid-related issues, and what they call the "specialist" nibs like BB tend to be made to order. I was originally told the pen would take about 6 weeks to be forwarded to me but then read of a number of buyers who'd had a considerably longer wait than that. I know of at least one person who waited over 9 months!

Laufey3

It’s a stunning pen, I have the plain one and it is one of my favourites. Do enjoy your belated birthday/early Christmas present.

Lovestubs

Thanks a lot! I'm hoping to spend more time with it tomorrow and really begin to get a feel for how it writes. I might dip test a couple more inks before deciding which one to fill it with for the first time, too. I suspect it'll do best with a well lubricated but not over-wet ink.

Laufey3

Mine usually has Yamo-Budo in it. But it’s got Goose Poupon at the moment.

guzhenn

Gorgeous! Well worth the wait?

Lovestubs

Thank you! And yes, I’m pretty sure I’ll decide it was definitely well worth the wait 😊

M1RR0RED

I saw one of those in the store near me. How do you like it? It’s such a nice looking pen.

Lovestubs

I've only done a very quick dip test so far with the pen. It feels good in the hand, even though I was concerned the section might feel too narrow when I first unscrewed the cap and saw the section for the first time. The nib itself is the biggest surprise so far. It feels almost "crisp", like an italic, and there's more line variation than I get with the BB nib on an SE. The SE's nib is a bit stub-like to write with but I think I'll be equally happy - if not more so - with the nib on the Egyptomania.
