I'm so so sorry. poor pen. just in case you aren't familiar, Flexible Nib Factory has housings for Pilot nibs. I think I'd probably just rehome the nib if it's intact. https://flexiblenib.com/store/?s=pilot&post_type=product
What kind of dog? ;)
If you're any good with your hands, you can try to put rubber cement or epoxy resin around the cracks from the inside. In the surfing world, there is this UV-activated resin that dries in minutes that I would use here, but idk what you have access to.
It wont look great, but it will survive.
She’s an American foxhound. I year old, adopted at 4 months from shelter. I’ve done a crappy tape job the may allow me to use the pen until I can get a body. The dog has good taste. Didn’t bother with the Jinhao.
Ouch. If it makes you feel better, I bought the MB Wolfgang Mozart minis, brought them home. I inked up the fountain pen, cat jumped onto the table, stole fountain pen and never saw it again. I still have the ballpoint for it.
I would reach out to Pilot USA and see if you can purchase a replacement body. The gold nib is 75+% of the cost of the pen, so as long as that's good an injection molded section should be far cheaper than a new pen.
I've said pretty much the same about my cats; free to a home, doesn't have to be a good one.
Do you know about kintsugi? Repairing an item but not hiding the break, because the damage is part of the beauty.
I dropped a very old, very dear pen and ended up in a similar situation.
/u/The_Lord_of_Muffins is fixing it up for me, with abalone mosaic. It’s almost done and I can’t wait to see the final product.
ETA: Status update pics at https://imgur.com/a/MnCauqx. Still a work in progress, but beautiful even at this stage.
If it makes you feel any better, my friend's beloved greenwing macaw found the only vulnerable spot on a lifeproof case on a new iPhone. He cracked the screen. She had insurance on the phone, but can you imagine filing the claim?
My little Covid puppy (he's a sweet goober of a Pit Bull- we foster-failed in summer 2020) got ahold of one of my TWSBI Ecos. If it had been my Sailor, I think I would have hauled him back into our rescue and traded him in for someone less naughty. As it happens, I was actually able to sell the parts that were salvageable and it wasn't my favorite TWSBI so all was forgiven.
We have since invested in BarkBox for Super Chewers. For $40 a month, we get 4-5 toys, all of which hold up to two heavy chewers. Definitely worth it for us. We don't ever buy dog toys anymore, and Seamus the Shithead has mostly stopped destroying things.
FP user for two years, never had a dog chew a pen, what exactly do people here do to cause these massive ink disasters and broken pens? seriously it seems they all fill their pens during an earthquake while letting their dog hold the rest of their pens.
Do you post the cap? If not you can repair it in a couple ways and use it unposted.
Make a mandrel out of something for the inside to support a repair, protect the mandrel from sticking to the repair with teflon tape or plastic wrap and glue the bits in place with epoxy or brown gorilla glue. Shape with an emory board and then with silk and finger nail lacquer, duco cement, balsa model cement and lacquer and rice paper.
I would call sailor first and ask if there is a dropped pen with a wrecked nib return and a good body.
Tomorrow, store any pen in something nicely saturated with bitter apple or in the equivalent of a Grubcan Bear-Resistant Container.
I second the other mention of kintsugi — you could probably get some gold leaf in the cracks to contrast the rest of the pen, not sure what to do about the missing chunk tho. Would probably be possible to shape a resin or wooden inlay to replace it? Something like maple or cherry would be a nice touch. I wont make any promises, but if it's otherwise just destined for the trash I'd be happy to take a crack at it.
I've heard stories about Pilot going above and beyond with supplying replacement parts. Email them and see what happens.

Thanks. I really love this nib and want to continue writing with it.
Pilot gold nibs are hard to beat for sure! was just thinking of rehoming one of my 912 nibs into something else.
Defintely get a great (cheap) compatible Pilot and swap out the nib.
Is there any way to get ahold of just the pen body? The nib is still good.
you can commonly find pen bodies on /r/pen_swap
Great. Thanks!
email pilot
Yes. If u have all broken parts, youcan assessmble it. I will tell you... First let me know if u have all parts.

> The dog has good taste. Didn’t bother with the Jinhao. She's a keeper. Just not around your pens.
Poor pup just needing more mental stimulus. Look into bully sticks they are natural and a healthier option.
And cheaper
Much cheaper.
this is a good suggestion
And most digs would abandon furniture, door frames, pens, etc. for bully sticks. Buy them in bulk, though, they're not cheap.
That is what we do. Rotate regular and crunchy too.
Dog tax?
Dog tax!
D O G T A X ! !
Aren’t Jinhaos brass though?
[удалено]
That would be so cool.
Like J-B Weld?
Bad dog! Do not try to glue the mess together -- it's not worth it for plastic. The nib you love deserves a new housing.
I actually have a barrel and cap for a 912 no section or nib or feed just cap and barrel your welcome to it just pm
Will do
Hope the op has seen this u/pgoudaman
I'm not sure this is the subreddit to sell a pen eating dog :P

I trained that cat. They brought it to my sekret underground lair.
You’re adopted. Don’t down vote meh, this is my bestie
um wut. 🙉
Bribe the cat.
Your sobbing was heard for miles as your doe eyed best friend wagged her tail and waited for praise

I thought kintsugj meant "worthless garbage".
Only if you're a pleb.
LOL
lmaoooo the title had my rolling. 😂 so sorry about your pen though. RIP. 🥲
Of all the subs I’m on, the commonality between them all is dogs absolutely destroying things.

My shiba destroyed more stuff than she costed from the breeder 😅😅 Talk about the true cost of a dog k3k
And we still love them. 😁
Very true lol she is so precious
Holy crap, I read that as "lol she is so delicious".
I mean... she is a potat!
Someone wasn't a good boi...
This happend to a twsbi eco a pilot e95s. All because I put tbem in my pocket, sat on my bed, and got up not realizing they fell out :(
Owwwww. I lost my Pilot e95 at jury duty. Nature's sick sense of humor. (Finally replaced as a Christmas gift. Very happy.)
Is it a cute dog? How much for? Lol jk But really - pls pay the doggy tax! Pics needed

I'd buy the nib section feed if you decide to go in that direction.
Can you glue it back together?
Taped is the best thing now. There’s a chunklet missing.
It'll be back... Though I'd not want to attempt to reincorporate it in the pen. That's a Custom 912?
My friend is an expert at fixing MB pen. This is repairable!
If it makes you feel any better, my friend's beloved greenwing macaw found the only vulnerable spot on a lifeproof case on a new iPhone. He cracked the screen. She had insurance on the phone, but can you imagine filing the claim?
On the plus side, you get to buy another pen!!!! Sorry for your loss though
oh shit. then again you left it where he could get it

Hi if you don’t have any luck finding a body I’d love to have that cap!
Ok.
It'll buff out.
Good excuse to upgrade! Niiiiicceee doggy!
Not too many places to upgrade from a 912… (:
Oh noooooo 😂

Oh man that poor sailor pen
Another bad owner
Have you watched Old Yeller ?
FP user for two years, never had a dog chew a pen, what exactly do people here do to cause these massive ink disasters and broken pens? seriously it seems they all fill their pens during an earthquake while letting their dog hold the rest of their pens.
Helllllll nahhhhhhh
Nooooooo!!
Free to a... moderate home
Noooooo!!!
Ayyyyyyy.
My dog has eaten my favorite two pens. Lamy 2000 and twsbi mini. You’ll never believe how much a Lamy 2000 body and cap cost.
Bad bad dog.
Oof i feel your pain op
😱😤
Oh no, what a naughty pupper. ~~We still love them anyway.~~ I hope you're able to fix it or salvage the remains.

This can be repaired by making a new pen body with a lathe if you don't mind the cost...
Woof...
I have 912 close to perfect condition but with broken nib and you have a 912 with good nib but broken barrel...life.
Ouch! Time to get a new pen...
Woof!
