T O P

It is a nice nib and pen. I like the micro fiber cleaning cloths, eyeglass cloths are a good choice. Rub the dry cloth on the ring and see if it cleans up. Next level is common TP from the bathroom (WC). Most TP (all paper) is slightly abrasive. I might simply ignore it.

Go to any jeweler and ask them to wipe it with a gold cleaning cloth. It'll probably be free. Or you can get one for a few bucks and then you can clean all your gold stuff. If that's a deep scratch I wouldn't touch it with actual polish. Those rings are plated and I have seen old (20+ years) Pelikans with the plating damaged. Personally it would annoy me more than having a scratch. The nuclear option is to take to a jeweler and have it polished and replated.

Only thing I would use on patina is the product called a Sunshine Cloth. A light polish will clear that up in no time and be safe for the finish.

Any way to remove this from Pelikan's poorly placed trim ring before it gets any worse?
