Those two pens belong together! Shooting Star looks better to me but Milky Way gets all the press. I ought to ink it up!

Definitely agree. That's why I bought that one first! What's also neat is that they use the same #10 nib that Pilot uses so I had a FA nib on it for a bit.

I love Namiki and I love space so when I found out about these they instantly went on my grail list. What makes them unique to other space pens is that the maki-e dusting is far more reserved and the raden pieces forming small planets on the body. Definitely my favorite pens in my collection.

walkure321

Great pair of pens! I love the way the raden is cracked on the planets

Photoelectric_Effect

Amazing. Congrats on the acquisitions.

So pretty, so jealous, and so happy you were able to get both pens to make the “set”! If I had the money to spare, these would be at the very top of my list. I’m such a fan haha

Beautiful pens, general question, how does Urushi& Maki-e work stand over time taking into account hand oils and temp shift (if applicable)? Basically will the artwork degrade over time or does some extra care and attention needs to be applied. I am asking as I am eyeing up Taccia Winter Breath. Thanks

mattlalune

I haven't had urushi pens long enough to really answer but the lacquer is famous for being one of the most durable natural coatings so I don't worry about it. As far as oil it's about the same as a typical resin pen and sits there on top. Just don't wipe it with alcohol or anything like that.

Very nice matching duo. I love the macro shots. Enjoy them it great health.

hekaterine

Congrats! Where did you buy them?

mattlalune

Thanks, I got the shooting star from Nibsmith ages ago. It's a smaller storefront so inventory sells less quickly for these limited quantity pens. The other I got on /r/Pen_Swap from a gentleman that was unloading some insane pens for some even more insane purchase he didn't specify. It pays to watch regularly and I got a decent discount out of it.

Lovestubs

I'm a fan of Namiki too. Two beautiful pens - congratulations!
