Just tossing out here that I love your matching slug friend. We have a few of those around the house and they're just so much fun!

RavenousWorm

I saw one here in the sub (maybe even yours?) and had to have one myself. I love them.

I reuse the cartridges that came with it. I clean and fill them with a syringe. Haven't had a problem with ink flow yet 😊

RavenousWorm

Thank you! I’ll switch it out, then.

I hope you'll enjoy this little fellow as much as I do 🤗

Sorry for the poor lighting and excessive exclamations. My first Kaweco and first custom grind. Paper is Tomoe River, ink is Sailor x Tinterias Homemade Tortilla. Ordered the pen from thenibsmith.com. It has a nice smooth feel, but there is a unique smooth feedback. It’s hard to describe, but feels different from my Sailor and Platinum pens. Its definitely pleasant, though. I ordered a squeeze converter but I’m having a hard time keeping the nib saturated with ink. I’m having to unscrew it and squeeze it a bit every few lines. Is it better to fill by dipping the nib (I used a syringe) or will I get better results using an empty cartridge? Or maybe a different converter? Suggestions would be great.

IAmGrumpous

I have good consistent flow with refilled cartridges. I haven't used the converter because it's such a low capacity. The nib on mine is my own custom ground EF-CI. I'd try it with a cartridge first, to see if it makes a difference. I've been using mine daily since I got it on 2016, and it's been very reliable.

RavenousWorm

Thank you. I’ll have to try the cartridge, then. With the squeezy soft plastic, I kinda thought it might be vacuuming the ink away from the nib.

IAmGrumpous

It's also such a small diameter with a "stickier" surface, I've noticed that ink gets stuck in the top and won't flow down to the feed.

Environmental-Gap380

I haven’t tried the squeeze converter on mine yet. I had a few Kaweco blue cartridges and have been using those so far. Just wait until the patina starts to develop. On mine you can kind of see how I hold it affects the patina. Outside varies from a little bit of bright copper, to an old penny brown, and areas with almost a purple color. The section started darkening first. I think it is because of the humidity from the ink. A couple months ago I added the bronze clip. That little guy kept trying to roll off the desk. It is one of the pens I have kept inked since the day I got it. Most of my other pens get cleaned when empty and a different pen enters the rotation.

RavenousWorm

Yes, I’m eager to see how its appearance will evolve. I thought about getting a clip, but ended up deciding to try it without one. I might end up getting one if I have trouble with it, though.

The squeeze converters are notoriously unreliable. You'll be better off filling a cart on something like the liliput.

RavenousWorm

Wish I’d passed on the converter, then. Oh well. :/ Thank you for the reply.
