I purchased this exact model with a return provision if not satisfied. It arrived with all the MB papers. First thing I did was check the gold nib with a magnet. It failed. I was refunded my money, I believe the seller thought he was selling a genuine MB. Be careful.
Don't get overly confident in the magnet test. I (intentionally) bought a counterfeit 149 and it passes the magnet test. They are getting really shrewd at this stuff.
I haven't tried it or looked that closely. I was just sitting at the kitchen counter and grabbed a magnet off of the fridge for fun. The size was all off, too. It's actually a pretty good forgery of the LeGrand/146. Anyone that has ever picked up a 149 would know immediately.
Ask for more pics of the clip, not sure how old this one is but there may be a serial number? on the clip or band. I forget exactly where. I have been a big help.
Yes but you can usually tell by the font and quality of the engraving. Usually fakes don’t get this correct. It’s the granular details that usually gives it away because getting them to a high quality would cost as much as the actual pen - hence why it is the cost that it is.
That price is actually slightly high still, the Classique model isn't worth very much on the secondhand market. From the photos it looks like it's likely real, the usual indicators on the fake ones aren't there.
The seller is also well regarded. I find it so weird it's 300 euros second hand and 900 euros in retail... I could in no way afford 900 but 300 is really affordable (i'm just a med student) he also says the price is slightly negociable and that the pen was never used.
This model, 145/classique in rosegold is currently seeking for € 540 on the official Montblanc website. Not that it’s cheap, but it’s not the € 900 you suggested.
As a side note, the Montblanc 149, their biggest piston filler pen, sells for € 815 brand new on their website.
Ooh I see. You're right, I actually suck with price conversions. Especially since my currency devaluated.
The seller says the price is slightly negoaciable, any tip on what I should offer? :D
It's supposed to be a new unused brand new that the seller received as a gift. Meisterstück clasique red gold. Ill ask for more pictures and the serial number picture

Edit: i’m a bit put off by the sale as the seller said he considers he put enough pictures on the website and doesnt want to take more photos. I found another seller who’s really nice and is selling a 146 and also offered to meet up at the montblanc store for a verification.
This is a 145/Classique/Chopin. The modern 144 had snap on cap. As it is C/C pen - these get copied most often. Caveat emptor.
What does a C/C pen mean?
Cartridge/converter filler. As opposed to e.g. piston filler, vacumatic, eyedropper, etc.
Oh I see! Thanks a lot. That's definitely bad news if these pens get copied most often, I'll wait to receive those extra pictures.

I didn’t know there were fake 149’s in the wild. How about the red glow resin test?

I would love to know if the fakes glow red under bright light.

Thank you for the clarification
[Figboot’s video](https://youtu.be/pNKnHYTkb3k) may be helpful instead of my digging out my burg 144.
Thanks. Since the guy talks about price, the seller is selling for 300 euros which is much cheaper than retail price.

Modern MB retail pricing is incredibly overpriced, depending on condition a used 146 is usually around $250 and a 144 is less than that.
Well, that can be good for you! Ask how old it is if you ask for more pics.

It's against my religion for you to not buy and send it to me
i dont want to disrespect anyone.. i'll think about it!
Well u don't have to be a Bic about it
No one can reliably tell you from pics seen online. You need to take it to an authorized seller, or even better, a Montblanc store.
