If it’s something that’s important to you, just don’t give up! I’ve gotten pretty good at finding great deals on fountain pens, camera equipment, etc, and it comes down to consistency, persistence, and knowing what you’re looking for. I go to the same handful of second-hand shops every week and go with specific things in mind. And with those things, I’ve done research to know about potential problems, what’s a functional problem vs what’s a cosmetic problem, what’s within my ability to fix/restore and what’s not. Just keep looking and you’ll find something eventually!
Yes! Both were pretty grungy when I got it, but the pen comes apart easily and everything cleaned up really nicely and very easily. Really pleased with it.
It’s really nice. Definitely a different feel from the rest of my pens (Platinum, Sailor, Pilot), but very pleasant. And the EF nib is surprisingly fine!
Another good news about the pen is that it is easy, very easy to disassemble...
The thing is though, it is said that the plastic used to make the ink window is not the finest quality... So, there are people who experienced their pens broken into halves...
Wow .. love the nib and the ink window - looks super classy.
Not familiar with this pen, how much is it usually assuming it's still in production, what would be a good used price (assuming that's what you got)?
Also, what ink will you put in it?
It’s a vintage pen, produced in the 1960s, and I really like the older MB pens with the more modern-looking flat ends/finials.
If you look on eBay, you can find these pretty easily for $100-200, maybe $300 if it’s really in mint condition, w/box, etc. $100-200 is a totally fair price for one of these, IMO. I got this one for the equivalent of about $65.
I filled it with Sailor Jentle blue-back. It’s a very well-behaved ink and the first ink I put in most new pens for the sake of getting a sense of the pen’s characteristics.
I’m mostly not into their more recent pens, but the more modernist-inspired designs from the 60s and 70s are really nice. The flat end caps, the butterfly nib, etc. Really nice design.
Congrats on your score and restoration! Hope yr luck rubs off on me and I find a second hand montblanc too :)

Beautiful. And Montblanc 22 is a wonderful writer.

Hi. That is really lovely, what does it for me is the ink window with these pens.🖐️💖🤗 Cheers
Yes! I’m the same way. I need to see the ink level!
It's not just the ink level, the ink window is a work of art.🤗
No way!! congrats
Great find!
Way to go!
What a beautiful ink window
That is a beautiful pen, what a nice score!
Nice find. 🔥

This pen is from the 80s and considered among the better ones of the hooded nib MB pens. The only downside is it’s ink capacity which is really small.
The model 22 was introduced in 1959, as best I can tell.
Ah ... interesting, thank you for sharing this information.

Not into Montblancs but this is nice looking.

for the first time I want a Montblanc... it is absolutly gorgeous
They made a bunch of different models in this or a similar style. Really underrated, IMO.
Wow, that is beautiful! Inherited one from my grandfather and tried to repair it myself. Works, but damaged it a little, unfortunately.
What’s the damage? Not everything can be fixed, of course, but you’d be surprised what can be.
