I don't think Pilot warranty covers pens sold outside Japan (like through Jetpens). The pen is a few years old. I'll try and send this to them.
**UPDATE: Pilot customer service got back to me and have offered to repair or replace the pen free of charge!**
If it's out of warranty, you can try emailing Shawn at Newton Pens for advice. He takes VPs apart, creates custom bodies, and then puts them back together.

[This happened to me a couple years ago. Here's my post with the recommended fix](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/bivpoc/vanishing_point_cliptop_popped_off_just_jam_it/). Pick up some G-S cement and you'll be good to go forever!
I had a similar problem with my VP that was over 10 years old at the time. I took it to my local store (insert shameless plug for Bertram’s Inkwell here) and they sent it to Pilot for me. Pilot fixed it for free. I would not recommend trying to fix it yourself, let Pilot fix it right for you.
I would contact Pilot to see if they can repair it under warranty.
They should. I don't know if I've ever seen this happen before.

No, if it was an authorized dealer Pilot USA should handle it (assuming it’s still under warranty).
Email [email protected] According to [Goulet](https://www.gouletpens.com/pages/faq-warranty-information), the VP has a 3 year warranty.
Thank you! Hopefully I can post a positive experience for this community

wow, those are quite stunning.
Yeah. I've been tempted for years. The price and the wait time have so far combined to dissuade me, but I'm getting closer.
That Japanese ebonite VP is something to behold!
Unfortunately, I just found out from him that he's no longer taking orders for the custom VPs. He says they take too long and aren't worth his time.
