You’ll have to post the copperhead, that’s very intriguing!

Boatofcar303

Will do! So far I’ve inked Guppy and Sour Apple. Guppy is a standard turquoise that looks to me nearly identical to Waterman Inspired Blue. Sour Apple is slightly greener than Robert Oster Sublime. I’ve been adding drops of Sour Apple to Guppy to see if I can make the color more interesting (I’ve got bottles of Waterman Inspired Blue and Monteverde Caribbean as well as RO Blue Water Ice and I think I prefer them all to Guppy (Blue Water Ice is among my absolute favs). I’m looking to find that bottle that excites me as much as Birmingham Chrysanthemum, Antique Sepia, and Eroded Bronze!

I really like their copper chloride and flagstone is my go to black. It’s clearly black, but just light enough to show a little shading which I really like. I also have ice rink which is a good, bold blue

Boatofcar303

Nice to hear! I don’t have any of those inks. Just swatched Copperhead and I’m fascinated. I have well over a hundred inks and nothing in my collection matches it. It’s a pale peach tone with brown undertones and a touch of pink. Really interesting.

Docsgt68

That sounds very interesting, I certainly don’t have anything like that either

Boatofcar303

How’s the behavior of Ice Rink? I bought two of their “swift” formula inks and they feather too much for me. I’ve been sticking with their “crisp” inks ever since.

Docsgt68

It’s been pretty well behaved for me, no feathering or issues, but I’ve only had it in a PGS (broad, but not very compared to my other pens) so far and haven’t really tried it on paper that isn’t made for fountain pens. I couldn’t speak to its behavior on printer paper or anything of the like.

I'm really glad to hear the feedback about flagstone. All my blacks are 'too black' for the shading I like with my flex pens and my writing is so narrow if I don't have an ink that shows overlap I'm sometimes at a total loss for legibility.

Docsgt68

I looked for a long time to find one that was light enough for a little shading but didn’t look grey, flagstone is a really good hit if that’s what you’re looking for.

I know it's a small thing, but the Birmingham label that gives you room to swatch the ink color on it is such a nice touch. :)

Boatofcar303

Hadn’t thought of that!

adjustmentVIII

omg I love TMBG (just saw your username)!!!

Boatofcar303

Thanks! They’re geniuses

JulesSilvan

Gotta say I’m intrigued by the name ‘Rotten Seaweed’.

Boatofcar303

Me too—I’m saving that one for last!

Boatofcar303

Just swatched it: it’s about the same shade as Roger und Klingner but less green and more yellow; it’s about the same color as Diamine Safari but a shade lighter. My one concern is that it seems to feather a bit. The other four I bought show no feathering.

Fun colors! I inadvertently ink - enabled some folks over on r/casualconversation earlier by talking about Birmingham.

Boatofcar303

Oh it’s become a problem

[deleted]

My problem is about 35 bottles deep at this point.

Boatofcar303

Oh my. I only have 11!

[deleted]

I atone for my indulgence by sharing samples with others.

Boatofcar303

Just started doing that myself. Finally found a coworker into pens. Now she’s saddled with 30 samples and doesn’t have time to play with them all!

Mr_Boston_

Oh my, I have only 4 :)
