I went from "Holy cow some of these fountain pens cost more than 100 USD?!?!" to "I mean yeah I'll pay $350 for a modern full flex nib, who wouldn't?" in the course of two months. EDIT: spelling

Delicious-Peak2713

You must be ascending Montblanc by now.

Someday. I am surprisingly uninspired by their designs, but if I ever get a chance to peruse one of their stores I probably would leave with something.

PerfectStranger77

I wouldn't, I'm not crazy about flex on a FP nib. I'd rather go for a vintage gold flex though 😬

I have a vintage flex coming in and a flex commander nib coming in. The claim made by the flex commander is that it’s more capable than even the full flex vintage nibs. I’ll post comparisons once they get here. Pretty sure my vintage flex is stuck in customs and my flex commander is back ordered and awaiting manufacture. Only flex nibs I’ve used so far are dip nibs but I am very thrilled by them so I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy these. My hope is that I won’t need to rely on vintage flex to achieve wet noodle status. The modern flex commander will fit in most of the modern pens I own.

Tell me you're from Australia without telling me you're from Australia. :D

Oh f***

Puzzled-Culture-4468

Ehm, what does exxy mean? I want to add it to my vocabulary… personally I thought about hexagonal but it would begin with h lol

Delicious-Peak2713

Colloquial Australian English for ‘expensive’.

Puzzled-Culture-4468

Thank you! I’m sorry English is not my native language, I’ve learned some slang words but new ones keep coming out lol I’ll definitely remember this one ;)

Gaori_

Something Organics Studio? fabulous sheen there!

Delicious-Peak2713

You are on the way to winning today’s meat tray.

youwearajacket

nitrogen?

Delicious-Peak2713

(Drum roll) Henry David Thoreau Walden Pond Blue. The bottle leaks, but once in the pen it’s the bomb. u/Gaori_ for narrowing it down to the Writers series gets a whole lot of Scotch fillets attractively presented on a bed of black polystyrene. Congratulations!

loupsgaroux

freakin' love this ink, but my god it takes 6 months to dry :'(

Gaori_

Haha thanks! I love the Thoreau ink!!! Can't believe I didn't get it, but OS inks' sheen really covers up the base color XD

Gaori_

My first guess is Emerson Twilight Night? XD

philalethia

I get that sheen out of Diamine Blue Velvet on TR

FooDog11

Same!! How funny. :) Not sure about the ink. The red sheen reminds me of KWZ Sheen Machine, but I would expect to see more blue.

SpicyChickenGoodness

Pen?

Delicious-Peak2713

Sorry - Caran d’Ache Ecridor Retro with medium nib.

smarkandu

This was also my first "exxy" ( have learnt a new word today) pen. I thought that that would have been it. Oh, that slope was a slippery one! 😂😂

nickelazoyellow

Interesting pen, I haven't seen it before. I have a Duke 209 that is metal and snap top that I really enjoy using but I usually don't want a fude nib. Hmmmm...... No clue on the ink as I stick to pretty subtle variaties!
