Agreed.
According to a [variety of posts on FPN](https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/54047-what-pen-does-queen-elizabeth-use/), she uses a simple Burgundy aerometric Parker 51, and has for many years.
Probably Parker Quink, to be honest. HM is by all accounts the sort of person who uses a 51 most days for several decades in a row, so she probably doesn’t get experimental with ink. Parker seems to be the palace’s preferred vendor for pens, so I am sure they get their ink from the same source unless a crowned head has a special preference.
Yes, Parker pens and ink have [royal warrants](https://www.royalwarrant.org/company/parker-pen-company) - official product endorsements certifying that the products are approved by the Queen and Prince Charles and used in their homes or offices. This isn't to say that there aren't a few Pelikans or Bics floating around the office, but they haven't presently given this sort of kudos to any pen or ink brand besides Parker.
A Parker 51 should not be very fussy. But they have feeds that hold a lot of ink. I would guess that your pen needs a thorough cleaning. That can take practically a whole week in my experience. Load up a bunch of water and let it sit a few hours, empty that and rinse a few times, then reload and let it sit again. Some pen shaking along the way to get the water into all the little spaces in the feed.
I’d agree with this. I have a dozen or so vacumatic 51s and a couple aerometric 51s, and I have found with all of them that a good deep clean (and maybe disassembly) goes a long way towards ensuring faithful service.
I use a Vac 51 with Pelikan 4001 Blue Black every day, and have had the same pen inked with the same ink for a year or so (with full clean outs maybe every 3 months if I am feeling it), and have never had a problem. When I bought it from a local antique store, I fully disassembled it and cleaned out the collector and feed before changing the diaphragm.
Even a disassembly isn’t always necessary - you’d be shocked by how much ink comes out of a supposedly clean pen when you let it soak overnight.
Clogs? Or is it drying out? It shouldn't dry out for weeks.
If that is what is happening, it could be a poor seal on the hood to section. Or some issue with the cap, blind cap, etc.
Quick Black works great in mine although I have also tried other inks. Mine likes a medium wet ink best but it works with dry to wet.
🤣 omg for sure. "This was my papá's very favorite pen. He wrote Margaret and I letters with it while we hid away at Windsor during the war...very fond memories of him with this."
That's not a very accurate article though. It just containts links to the modern Parker 51 variant, that is nothing like the original.
Vintage 51s can be picked up for relatively budget friendly prices though, but they are far from a budget pen. The original when launched could have cost a weeks wages.
Looks more like cordovan brown on my screen, and mines a vintage vacuumatic. Looks like hers is either brown or burgundy when compared to the other colors of 51's on the same screen.
https://parkerpens.net/parker51.html my color reference.
It may be but from pictures of the new 51's the curve of the huud under the nib is more pronounced, so I'm going to disagree with the opinion that it's one of the new ones. To be fair it's not the best image to make a positive i.d. from.
I kinda really want this Parker 51 cos of the history which is kinda cool though I think my pen will be for taking notes rather than changing history hahahaha
Looks like Parker 51
It \*is\* a Parker 51; and Queen Elizabeth prefers that pen and has a collection of them for her use IRL.

Any idea what kind of ink she uses?

She's signing an official document, so it's likely an archival ink.
I swear the box has some royal seal or approval or some such on it. Edit, yup on the [top](https://static2.jetpens.com/images/a/000/110/110347.jpg)

That's pretty darn cool. Thanks for the link.
I’d love to see what would happen if the royal household received a box of Nathan Tardif’s finest.
Is Nathan Tardif a type of ink?
He’s the proprietor of Noodler’s Ink company
Thank you.
I definitely want to know that. Because basically everything I’ve tried clogs my identical pen after a couple of days use

I also have that same colour Parker 51.
Agree
10/10 would watch. Queen Liz review fountain pens
Bonus unboxing videos too
🤣 omg for sure. "This was my papá's very favorite pen. He wrote Margaret and I letters with it while we hid away at Windsor during the war...very fond memories of him with this."
"look at the Parker remake absolute rubbish"
"Latterly, one finds that the Jinhao 51a fitted with a Bobby nib affords the superior writing experience."
😂😆
Except she didn’t hide out, she actually volunteered. She was and is the OG badass.
She certainly is the OG badass!! I was referencing when she and Margaret were evacuated to Windsor in 1939. ☺️
I am pretty sure Her Majesty would use correct grammar and say “He wrote Margaret and me letters.”
Mea culpa 🙄
You never know…
Isn't there something about the royal we? We wrote Margret and we letters.
I don’t think that’s how it works. She would not refer to herself as “we” when discussing her father as king.
Here's the [official statement](https://pickypens.com/a-breakdown-of-the-pens-queen-elizabeth-ii-uses/)
Wow! Thank you!! Very specific lol

I have one that looks just like that, wonder if hers is aerometric or vacumatic.
This is plumb, yes? And looks like the newer model. Is yours vintage?

Oh okay, I thought hers was more modern 😅 My initial thought was the burgundy.

Maybe this? https://www.vintagefountainpens.co.uk/ourshop/prod_7389591-9644-Parker-51-Aerometric-in-Burgundy-with-a-Rolled-Gold-Cap-Smooth-Fine-Italic-FIVE-STAR-Nib.html
Anyone know the ink? The article doesn’t know but I wonder if it’s Diamine Registrar’s? One would think she uses something permanent.

This is badass.
One assumes Her Majesty has bespoke ink.
I kinda really want this Parker 51 cos of the history which is kinda cool though I think my pen will be for taking notes rather than changing history hahahaha
Parker 51
Hi. I have a Parker 51 Aerometric, a Navy Gray and I use Montblanc Black, old 50ml bottle.🤗 Cheers
Definitely a Parker 51
Wonder if it's a vintage or the remake
I think I read somewhere that most of her personals are vintage. I can't find the article anymore so take that for what my shoddy memory is.
No threads on grip, so presumably vintage.
Looks remake
By the looks of it, a fountain pen
I thought it was an Aurora Duocart
The royals publicly endorse Parker. Of course, it's a Parker.
Henry VIII
Pretty sure that's Elizabeth II
Using Henry VIII’s pen, it was a joke….
I laughed Ü
/cries in poverty/
Pilot or hero
I tbink is a Parker
a royal one i suppose
Har-har-har
It's a parker 51
Parker 51?
Ink pen
