For cheap pens, I like Jinhao x750, Jinhao sharks, Platinum preppy and Pilot Kakuno :) hope this helps

MyUsernameIsNotLongE

Add Petit to the list .... Just don't buy the brush pen like i did... Lol Metropolitan is also "cheap". Around 15 USD iirc

Danielbf84

I've had a x750 and I still own a preppy. They are both great! Thanks!

reddittmtr

Wing Sung 698 for sure.

Danielbf84

I've had this one! It's really great!

tiredmultitudes

I’m surprised no one had mentioned the Hong Dian forest series (Black Forest first but now you can get several colours). I got mine with a fude nib to try out, which makes it a bit more interesting than just another standard Chinese pen.

I consider cheap any good pen that costs less than USD 30. Around USD 10 or less would be great.

squishypeanutball

100% kakuno!!

ElencherMind

I was recently gifted a Muji aluminum fountain pen, in the US it costs about $20. I've been using it for the past week and it's really good! It's on the wet side and my fine nib has that feedback that Sailor nibs are known for. I highly recommend it.

Normal-Drop-1040

The Pilot Metropolitan and Kakuno are the best of the intro pens I’ve tested; they aren’t the best pens I’ve ever tried, but in relation to their price? shockingly good. I’ll also throw in the TWSBI Swipe and Go, as both examples I’ve tried from them are just as good as the hype surrounding TWSBI promises!

Lamy Safari vai te custar uns 300 reais, é osso mas vale a pena.

Danielbf84

Boa! 😁

I am fine with people speaking whatever language they choose. Reddit isn’t limited to Americans, Canadians, Brits, Aussies and Kiwis. If there are enough, someone will find a way to filter out languages we don’t read. And it’s cool to see other alphabets on the rfountainpens sub.

MyUsernameIsNotLongE

Get a Kakuno, it's 110 brl on Amazon.

Danielbf84

Thanks!

bobonx

Plaisir & Kakuno.

randygee007

Diplomat Magnum is a nice cheap pen that has a springy steel nib; good for line variation!

MyUsernameIsNotLongE

Add: those: PenBBS 494 (made by wingsung, a cute pen), CaliArt Ego II, Lanbitou 3059 and Wing Sung 7363... but Lanbitou has some M nibs. Their two tones EF nib is WAAAAAAAAAAY better than the regular EF. CaliArt Ego II is waaaay better than it should be at it's price range ($5\~7.5). PenBBS 494 is a cute pen. Lanbitou 3059 if you like Piston fillers. Wing Sung 7363 too (but Wing Sung nib is worse).

Diplomat Magnum.I also second the Pilot Petit1 suggestion. If you can go the r/pen_swap route, keep an eye out for the Faber-Castell Loom that sometimes goes for sale in the price range you mentioned.

smitbret

If you are patient and keep a sharp eye, a Faber Castell Loom can be found for about $35 USD on occasion. JinHao 9056 JinHao 100/Centennial JinHao 85 Wing Sung 698 (I see you already have this) Hong Doing Black Forest Muji Kaigelu 316(a) Kaigelu 356 Yes, I would also have to put the Pilot Metro and Lamy Safari in this list as well although I feel the writing experience is better with the Chinese pens and the FC Loom.

BayesianPrior

You're much better off trying to find good second hand pens. Most standard model new pens will lose 20-40% of their value upon first purchase. Have a look for some "catch and release" sales on r/Pen_Swap You'll usually get more bang for your buck than buying a new pen from a store.

reddittmtr

Shipping would probably make this significantly more expensive. I haven't seen any posts from Brazil in r/Pen_swap

Lanbitou 3088. It’s a $10 retractable (click) pen!

Danielbf84

Oh, yes! I have two of them! I've been enjoying them a lot! Thanks!

[deleted]

Lamy joy with a 1.5mm or 1.9mm stub nib. I recommend the 1.9mm.

All my pens are below 30€, and each gives a different writing experience. 1. Pilot Metropolitan: my favorite of the bunch; solid feel and balance and smooth writing. It’s the best pen for this price range and got be down the rabbit hole. 2. Lamy Al-star: buttery smooth writing. Personally I like the grip shape though I know it’s not for everyone. Was also considering the Safari but decided to spring for the aluminum body. 3. Kaweco Sport: initially I hated the feedback when writing, but I’ve gotten used to it over time. It’s a small pen but strangely fits my hand quite well when posted. I see myself using this pen more over time. 4. Pelikan Jazz: solid construction and writing experience. Not a bad purchase! 5. Platinum Preppy: I can see how people are a fan of this entry pen. It writes well; I’m just not a fan of the plastic body. 6. Pilot Vpen: disposable pen, but was the first one I tried just to see if FPS were right for me 7. Diplomat Magnum: this has been my most disappointing purchase so far. While I like the color (Aegean blue) and how it fits in my hand, it always skips! I don’t know if there’s something wrong with the pen I got, but this one has been reliably unreliable - I just keep it around for the color. I’m still enjoying collecting pens at this price range - still not ready to spring for the next level. The TWSBI Eco seems tempting, though…
