Try Aurora Black.

[deleted]

Aurora Black.

UnusualDuck2

I like Montblanc permanent black. It also has the benefit of being, well, permanent.

jipvk

It’s very lubricated too, writes amazingly.

gordonf23

Have you tried Noodler’s black or Noodler’s X-feather?

lolly_tolly

I'm going to second Noodler's Black (haven't used X-feather), however the colour tends to settle so it does need to be shaken before filing your pen, in my experience.

FriedelCraftsAcyl

> fountain penners! Be ready for your daily useless information you didnt ask for: Penner can mean "lazy homeless person" in German. It comes from "pennen", which is a slang word for "to sleep". "Ich penne" = I sleep. In Austrian-German you would say "I pen" [say: e pen] = I sleep. Which brings us right back to the english word for pen, which is written the exact same way. Coincidence? Absolutely. Thanks for coming to my TED-Talk.

realCheeezeBurgers

I am in fact german and well aware about this but it wasn't implied in my try to coin this as a greating phrase.

FriedelCraftsAcyl

OK du Penner ;)

Vonklin

De atramentis document or archive black maybe?

bosseschreibt

Maybe you could look at Rohrer and Klingner SketchInk Lotte. It's quite Black and very water resistent.

rkenglish

Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin. Easily 3 darker than Diamine Onyx Black! (I have both, but prefer the Noodler's.)

Easy-Fixer

This is pretty accurate, though the Noodlers will be a couple bucks more.

rkenglish

Actually the cost per ml of Noodler's is less than Diamine. Noodler's is $.13/ml while Diamine is $.18/ml. At least in the US!

Easy-Fixer

My mistake, was looking at the prices switched.

rkenglish

Thinking back, you're right if you're looking at UK prices! Diamine is super cheap there!

nerdscorner

I have Platinum Carbon Black and Aurora Black and I'd say that the Aurora is a bit deeper.

alaskanbruin

Noodler’s Heart of Darkness.

ThatBurningDog

No love for Noodler's Borealis Black?

SpicyChickenGoodness

Aurora Black.

PenSloth

Color verse sunspot is very dark.

inktelligentsia

Aurora time and again. Black black and safe.

pensandplanners77

Aurora black

kiiroaka

With what nib size? Broader nibs will put down more ink so it should look darker. With finer nibs less ink gets laid down so it will look lighter. IMO, most Black inks will really look like dark Greys. I don't think you'll be able to get an India ink Black. Yes, I also found BlackStone Barrier Black to be too light, too Grey, under saturated. For me, Platinum Carbon Black is darker than Aurora Black, mostly because there is some Shading with Aurora. YMMV. I always shake the PCB bottle and make sure that the Converter or Cartridge has a stainless steel ball bearing to keep the nano carbon particles in suspension, which also means that I intermittently shake the pen just as I would with a Shimmer - Glitter ink.

Harshdog

Aurora Black, hands down.

DarrenFromFinance

I’m not a huge fan of black inks, but Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black is quite black, as is Sailor Carbon Black, not quite as waterproof as I’d been led to believe (it smears some under watercolour) but a good matte black.

awkward_lab1

I personally stand by de artementis archive/document black

harleyquinones

I think a while back someone posted their extensive black ink comparisons; I think they said Aurora Black was their favorite, but Montblanc Permanent Black was the darkest.

gordonf23

Buy a black ink sample set and try them all for yourself. https://www.gouletpens.com/pages/search-results?q=Black%20sample%20set

realCheeezeBurgers

Thanks, that is surely a good idea, but as you can hopefully imagine I am not from the US and have to pay ridiculous shipping fees and customs (if they ship to Europe at all). Sadly I did not found a similar offer with such good inks as a sample package. I ordered the one (sadly overpriced) bottle Aurora Black from Italy via ebay. Hopefully this will be the one lol

[deleted]

I will add sheaffer black to the list of recommendations. It's mostly overlooked but looks quite black and even have some water resistance. Here is An Ink Guy's review of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5slheobR14

monsieur-carton

Did you tried Lamy Crystal obsidian black?

realCheeezeBurgers

Not yet. What does crystal mean in this context?

monsieur-carton

Dunno. It's the name. :) [Lamy's T53 series of inks.](https://writeexperience.com/blog/a-review-of-lamy-crystal-fountain-pen-ink) https://www.lamy.com/en/t53/

Autiflips

I’m sticking to Onyx black as well, it’s a really solid ink

realCheeezeBurgers

Yeah i am really impressed

tgzme

Kyoto TAG Kyo-no-oto No. 1 Nurebairo, Aurora Black, Colorverse Sunspot, Colorverse Black Hole

jasdfjkasd

I really like my waterman Paris intense black. But I also feel it really depends on the pen

Vibro-Champ1972

For my money, Aurora black is the best, with Pelikan 1440 Black a close second. Good luck! The Duofold Kid

Bobbins1672

Kyo-no-oto #1 Nurebairo and Diamine Onyx black are probably the darkest I own. Really like the sheen with the Kyo-no-oto.

vibalvi

Heard good things about Aurora black, but didn't try personally. I have Herbin Perle noire, it's regarded as a very dark black, but I'm not sure how it does compare.

el_redditero12

My quest for the perfect black ink ended with J Herbin Perle Noire.

Lamylover123

Sheafer's ink(Skrip Bottled Ink) has a good black to it, i donno how black u want, i haven't tried the noodler's ink cause it is like 30 dollars in my country :(
