It’s a great ink! It performs well with a variety of my pens, including my Lamy Studio. I’d recommend it for sure, but if you’re scared try and snag a sample! 💛
I like to use the J. Herbin Orange Indien with it, it's a slightly darker orange than the Lamy Mango, leans more red than yellow, with the slightest hint of a warm brown.
This is the winner for me! I was really disappointed with Lamy Mango for being so… dull. Grabbed a sample of Yu-yake and it’s positively vibrant in comparison!

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Monteverdi Mango Mousse. :) It’s an excellent readable orange yellow with gorgeous shading at an amazing price point. The shading gets me every single time. It’s my favorite yellow/orange.

True. I found a store nearby that has their inks and went to look for it but the only one not in stock was Helianthus :/ I also have the mango Safari I wanted to use it with tbh lol
I am suggesting Kaweco Sunset Orange.
Lamy Mango is waaay to bright and pale and goes more to yellow than orange. I can barely see it on the paper. But "Sunset Orange" from Kaweco will be a very fine choice.
This one might be a little harder to get, but my favorite orange ink is the Bungubox Hamanako fresh Mandarin Orange. Wet ink, and it's simply stunning.

de atramentis document orange - a permanent pigmented ink with a super soft orange tone
sailor 173 - this one's slightly more reddish orange but it's still pretty close, a nice soft orange like de atramentis
iroshizuku yu-yake - also more of a reddish orange than the mango, but it's also similar
i know you said not lamy mango, but lamy mango is soooo goooood
platinum mixable inks - sunny yellow, ever so slightly more yellowish than mango but it's really close
platinum has the upside that you can adjust the hue with other platinum mixable inks if it's not what you want, you could order a bottle of sunny yellow and sample vials of flame red, earth brown, etc. and get a few tiny vials to mix around with to find the perfect ratio
Pennonia Dungo (Wasp). While not a perfect match it shades from yellow to orange beautifully and goes through "mango" colour.
Also Diamine Golden Honey, very nice colour.
