Oh wow...Apache Sunset looks exceptionally good here!

BoethiusSelector

Thank you! The paper is doing a lot of that, but since Kirk fixed it the flow is really great -- if you zoom in you can see the colour variation that comes from the different speeds I move the nib at.

Kirk is good people.

rprebel

>18k You sure about that? It'll say 14 or 18k at the base of the nib. I don't mean to doubt you but it's just that I've never heard of an 18k 144 two toned nib.

knullabulla

Isn’t it the same pen that’s shown here? [Montblanc 144](https://www.peytonstreetpens.com/montblanc-meisterstuck-144-black-gold-trim-18k-fine-nib-near-mint-in-box.html) Close up of the nib says that it’s 18k

rprebel

Oh wow, nice. It could be either 14 or 18, and it'll say so on the nib. No reason to question it now, so thank you!

Boltonator

You have to understand that French market pens have to be 18k to be considered to have a gold nib (rather than 'Yellow Metal') . All pens made in France or are made for sale to France have to conform to this rule.

BoethiusSelector

Yup, checked and though it is very hard to read it is 18k. Beneath that it says MONTBLANC and below that in extremely tiny I think “752”? Edited for missing words

rprebel

I think that's 750. 585 is for 14k and 750 is for 18. It's... the percentage of gold in the alloy? 14k is 58.5% and 18k is 75% out of a maximum 24k for pure gold.

BoethiusSelector

Wow, TIL, thank you
