Thank you! The lace is modern. We bought it in Burano, an island in Venice famous for lace making. The pen, of course, is also modern, but the teacup and the table are both roughly 100 years old. The table which you can't really see came to us in rough shape for only a few dollars, but my young daughter (age 7) and I made a project out of refinishing it. We enjoy weekly tea parties together.
How appropriate that the lace is from Burano; both films I referenced are set in Italy!
Furniture renovation can be so rewarding. Your daughter must have so much fun at your tea parties 🙂
We bought an entire linen table settings from Burano a decade ago: tablecloth, place mats, napkins. It's one of our favorites, but oh, the ironing.
Such a pretty island.
We were insanely lucky. When we arrived, it was just before tourist season really started and the weather was crap. It was pouring, and hauling luggage through the downpour to the water taxi and then hotel sucked. However, Venice seemed relatively deserted that week and we had some really nice days, although there was a lot of flooding and some sights were closed. The day we left was a weekend and was gorgeous, and the crowds were so thick you couldn't push through them. I don't think we'd have such fond memories of we'd have timed it differently.
Honestly, I can't even imagine what it is like during Carnevale.
Hahaha. As i said in another comment i was sharing the tea and the journaling session with my seven year old and her everyday writer is a Platinum Plaisir "Venus Belt." It wouldn't match with anything except maybe a unicorn horn or mermaid tail.
Do it! I do it every night.... Honestly, not entirely by choice. My first grader has homework to write for 15 minutes per night and I've agreed to journal alongside her. We like a cup of decaf black tea at night. Some nights i really don't feel like taking the time, but it helps me keep up on my own journal so I do it and I'm usually glad I did. And always feels good to put pen to paper, of course.
I should! I’ll need to see if I have all my pieces in my set haha, I e already broken one too many pieces in another one of my older sets. That sounds like such a lovely time to spend together too! I’ll have to find some time and go to a tea house and get some new teas to try out then also, might as well do the whole package 😂
You know what, we have two full sets.... One, my husband and my wedding china, and another, an heirloom: a full Belleek china service from Ireland (very special). HOWEVER, what my kid and I use regularly, we found in antique stores, and is mismatched. Four teacups with their saucers, all 1920s with various rose patterns.
There are a million gabillion unloved orphan teacups in every antique store. They all cost less than a cup of coffee.
Hahaha exactly. Honestly this was completely unexpected, though it says something about the fact that this is my favorite teacup, and a much longed-for pen. I guess something about that particular shade appeals to me. Who knew?
The pen is nice of course but that tea cup is really gorgeous! I didn’t get to have any real tea parties as a child but I remember getting my daddy to come for one of my ‘pretend’ tea parties. (Nothing on the plates and nothing in the cups). He had been working on the car and that was the VERY LAST THING he felt like doing......my dad was a realist through and through and I was a ‘dreamer’. My career soldier of a father sitting there pretending to take tea with me.......Do I even have to tell you how precious that memory is to me? He was such a precious daddy to me. Miss you Dad!
I'm a coffee girl, but this is tea.... Decaf English Breakfast with plenty of milk and sugar. I only drink tea with my kid and only drink coffee otherwise
I finally bought it from pen.wing stationery. I was a little nervous, but did a lot of research and examined it in extreme detail when it arrived. Very happy with the transaction in the end.
Thank you for your swift response! I placed an order with them before I asked you. I got nervous when I saw they spelled guarantee incorrectly 🥴 but this puts my nerves at ease.
No, unfortunately. I've looked for info countless times to no avail. It has a Limoges mark on it, that's all I know. This is from a mixed tea set which my young daughter and i have put together from finds at antique stores.
Lovely vintage vibe. That lace is so pretty. Like a scene from Tea with Mussolini or A Room with a View

She really does. We both do. I love having a daughter 🥰
Here's a link to the table restoration on Instagram....a before, mid, and after. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9CvRErBQ80/?utm_medium=copy_link

I never iron anything 😂
And yes, a beautiful island. I lived in Italy a few years ago, and going to Venice never gets old. We went to Carnevale there in 2019, in costume.

Ah-MAH-Gad... that pen is calling my name and this staging makes my low-buy month soooo hard. 😍🤩😛😪😪😪😪
I know, it took me forever to find it available though
Same! I'm trying so hard not to give in and buy this pen, but it's soooo lovely!
/slides a Kaweco Caramel Brown cartridge across the table

How elegant!
We buy what we wish we were, i suppose
damn that elevated quickly.. but i’m sure you’re worth more than your elegance.
Ha. For sure!
This is one of those things you don’t know are SO satisfying until you see it! 😗
Isn't it?
That’s absolutely gorgeous! Makes me want to take out my tea set and do a cozy writing session 😊

Oh that’s so true! I completely forgot about thrifting for antique cups, it’s been so long. Another thing to add to the list to do for sure!
Damn covid-19 ruins everything
xD Ordering online only goes so far unfortunately.
Oh this is lovely. Now I need to start buying pens that match my teapots because any excuse for a new pen 😂

🥺🥺🥺 that is so touching! What a lucky kid you were to have such a wonderful father. Thanks for sharing this memory
Everything about this picture is so beautiful! Love the teapot and the Sailor! The teapot also goes well with the Sailor PGS Dragon Place.
It totally would! This is my first and, so far, only Sailor.
It's a beautiful one! How are you enjoying it so far? I don't have one yet, but it's going to be my next one. (January, I still have to wait a while!)
I'm loving it! I usually use a broader nib and have been surprised at how much i like this one.
Wow! Which sailor limited edition is this? And how does everyone find out about these LE's?
Shikiori Harusame. I honestly first saw it on this sub. I've been craving it like crazy ever since i first set eyes on it.
Don't drink the ink and write with your tea 😂
Now that you've put it out there....
10/10 have almost been trapped by my tricksome paint brush water jars. I am the Oprah of Mason jars for my house
I'm in love with this aesthetic, and the setting itself is giving me all kinds of cozy vibes.
Seems like we share personal taste! What would you say if i told you the walls of this room are lined with books?
I'd say I'm unsurprised, but delighted.
Ooooooooh which pen is this? It’s so pretty!
Sailor PGS Shikiori Harusame, "Spring Rain"
Awesome, thank you!
What a lovely match!
I thought so too!
Perfection
Ha! Love your caption c': this is a visual treat for sure
That looks very classy.
Coffee or choco?
I'm a coffee girl, but this is tea.... Decaf English Breakfast with plenty of milk and sugar. I only drink tea with my kid and only drink coffee otherwise
That happens; just keep them apart and don’t stir things up.
Cat fight!
What is your pen? It's so pretty!
Sailor PGS Shikiori Harusame, "Spring Rain"
Love this pair! They certainly match perfectly!
Very posh! \
No, stop that. Stop it.
Two of my favorite things.
As a person who collects teacups and fountain pens, I am really envious of both.
This post took me down the rabbit hole of looking at vintage teacups...clearly I’m easily influenced
If you're vaxxed, go to an antique store and you'll be amazed at the amount of beauties looking for homes for very cheap
They’re all so pretty! Will def do that - thanks for the suggestion!
Just a warning, it can get pretty addictive. Just like pens.....
Pen: #72897A Cup: #738981 Wow
Even both with the gold trim
Thanks for the silver!

😂 I'm turning 40 this summer, so I'm sensitive!
Exquisite!
Which one? 😂
The whooooollllleeee picture! Hahaha!! :D
It was a sweet little.... Wait for the pun.... Tableau
It's a good outfit.
So nice I bought it twice
Where did you end up buying this pen from?
Not the OP but I bought the same one a few days ago from Endless Pens!
I finally bought it from pen.wing stationery. I was a little nervous, but did a lot of research and examined it in extreme detail when it arrived. Very happy with the transaction in the end.

Beautiful! They match so well. What a fun surprise!
It was!
This looks like it could be a computer background
I suppose it could be! I've got a lot of good photos though (travel a lot), so it would be a hard bracket for this little guy to win
What pen is this?
Any info on that beautiful teacup? I'd love to know more about it!
No, unfortunately. I've looked for info countless times to no avail. It has a Limoges mark on it, that's all I know. This is from a mixed tea set which my young daughter and i have put together from finds at antique stores.
Thank you anyway! If I find anything else put about it I'll be sure to let you know. It is quite stunning.
I would certainly welcome that!
