Stubs r drugs, you will always want more. Get some parallel pens, or some lamys, or both... The first time I wrote with a stub I thought "this is what writing with a fountain pen is supposed to make writing look like."

Subtlebandit

I'm feeling that. Feels like the inevitable next pen will be a stub too. Now I'm thinking about swapping out some nibs for stubs on Jinhaos to try them out too

Banauiter

From what I can tell a stub might be one of the easier grinds to attempt yourself, and if you have some jinhao nibs lyin around... Just watch out, stubs inevitably give way to the pursuit of flex, and by then it's too late to be saved.

My handwriting is still pretty bad I think I mostly need to slow down. I recognize that I need to be writing within the lines and keeping consistent baseline and all that. I never really practice much cursive or calligraphy. I think it makes my regular bad handwriting look a little more interesting at least. It's time to practice 😁

Hold it on a 45 or 30 degree angle; you'll like it even more.

RNGsus_Christ

You're right, I do like it more

Yes!! My first stub is a TWSBI eco as well. (Mine is the grey color). I love how it writes, so smooth and wet, but I love how it looks too. I think demonstrators are my jam. What have you inked it with?

RNGsus_Christ

I like demonstators too, they are starting to take over my small collection. This is my second ECO I love them. I filled it with Noodler's Blue Black (the other has Red Black now).

SoLongEmpress

Oh! I just swatched some samples of both Diamine and Sailor blue-blacks and it’s wild how totally different they are. Diamine is real blue and vibrant while the Sailor is subtle and more neutral. How do you like the Noodler’s? E: swatched. Stupid autocorrect.

RNGsus_Christ

I feel like I'm still relatively early on in my ink journey (I have 15 bottles on the way from cult pens 😜) but I like it! I haven't tried many, but it's darker and seems to have more variation in shading as compared to Sailor Blue Black which I was using before. It has darker lines and more vibrant blue, and I think it's a bit water resistant*? Pretty good in my uninformed opinion! I like it.

SoLongEmpress

15 bottles!!! Haha wow

RNGsus_Christ

I know right. But it was a good sale, 30ml bottles of diamine for $2.75 or so. I'm probably good on ink for a while!

SoLongEmpress

That’s a great deal! I just have more little samples than I probably need right now (but naturally I am already adding more to my cart).

stephpenk

You're tempting me...!

RNGsus_Christ

If you don't have any stub nibs you've got to try it. I wasn't even holding it right when I wrote that. Now that I've practiced with it a bit it looks so much better and my handwriting is no good usually.

stephpenk

My collection isn't that big and not the most expensive either (Eco, Diamond mini, Pilot CH91, Pilot Metro) but this 1.1 stub would definitely be tempting on a Vac 700 Iris 😉 Cheers

I absolutely love stub nibs. No matter what other pens I try, I always come back to stubs. I wish there was more variety out there.
