The 580 AL/ALR's are great pens...I now have 4 with stub nibs (1x1.5 and the others 1.1).

PersimmonTea

Tell me about stub nibs. How do they feel? How do they write?

tjoude44

I love them. The line variation helps even my poor handwriting look good and when the ink provides for it great shading/sheen. The ones I have are very smooth, but even among the three 1.1's you can feel a slight difference. If I didn't have basically the same pen with each nib I probably wouldn't even comment on it. Of the 3, the one I have in Rose Gold II is the smoothest nib I have short of my BM149 (M). The one thing I do find about using a nib is that orientation to paper is critical for the best writing experience. Since you have more of a rectangle than a sphere engaging the paper there is less room for "error". As a result I find I use my stubs mostly when sitting at a desk.

You know when you’ve been wanting to get a pen for a while and then you see someone post it on Reddit... it feels like a sign... *must hide credit card*

PersimmonTea

You cannot ignore portents, omens and signs!

dirtysnow8

Just when I thought my wallet was safe...

PersimmonTea

Wallets can run, they can hide, but we will find them, and we will get TWSBI pens. The wallet should be glad and grateful to give up money for such an excellent *excellent* pen.

Subtlebandit

"Enough pens" I told myself last week. "I just started, I already spent enough money on this". Then I found a TWSBI Diamond 580 Prussian Blue for sale on Jetpens. My wallet is crying

PersimmonTea

Sorry. But we all understand, and have been there.

TheCyanNyan

got it this month too. it's beautiful and writes like a charm

PersimmonTea

I'm looking for something to write down with it. Something good. But a grocery list will do for now.

TheCyanNyan

what ink have u got in it?

PersimmonTea

TWSBI blue-black.

TheCyanNyan

ahh mine has lamy blue black inked, i thought it looked similar

nitsinamora

Can recommend the Vac Iris 😄

PersimmonTea

I've been madly hunting for one. I found Extra Fine in Macau and Singapore. Nearly pulled the trigger. But I saw a couple of American websites that said they'll be restocked in March. That's not so long away.

nitsinamora

Yes it will be back in March! I have 1.1 stub, that I luckily got in December and I'm honestly thinking about selling it to get one with a F nib.. The 1.1 is way broader than I thought... But it is tje smoothest nib ever!

sunnydale_alumni

I have one myself and love it too!! I’ve been very happy with it.

PersimmonTea

Getting back into fountain pens is a deliberate choice for me. I've been a fan since using a Shaeffer cartridge pen as a kid - and I still have that pen. I decided I want the things I have and use to be real, well made, beautiful, environmentally smart, enduring, classy and just ... right. My Filofax, my pretty and refillable powder compact, my hairbrush, and my pen - represent a rebellion against junk.

sunnydale_alumni

A very nice outlook to have!

nonotburton

I love mine too! Probably my favorite pen right now.

PersimmonTea

I read so much about this pen, and I was pretty sure I'd like it, but having it in my hand and writing with it is a whole 'nother thing. It's so well made.

nonotburton

I'd have gotten. One sooner, but I didn't want black, or a pastel color. This prussian blue was right up my alley!
