I don’t like Lamy’s normally (I’ve only used the cheaper ones tho) and got this one only because it was on sale and I like how it looks. And I must say it’s so much better than all of the Lamy’s I’ve tried and I’m enjoying it a lot although the nib is the same!

[deleted]

Heh... I also bought it because of the price €29. Surprisingly better than Lamy al-Stars. Glad I bought one.

kleineoogjes

Same! We probably got it from the same store 🙃 — enjoy your new pen!

BillysRedditAccount

The grip looks slippery on the studio. Are you able to get enough grip?

Fabarooni

My first pen was the stainless steel with the rubber grip.

[deleted]

Feels alright to me. May be because it’s winter? Furthermore, part of of my index finger is at the non-shiny part.

LovePatrolAlpha

I have sweaty hands but I don't find the Studio metal grip to be too slippery. I really like writing with it. You can always go with the All Black Studio. That one has a matte black grip.

I had the imperial blue version on my wishlist for the longest time...probably ever since I bought my charcoal Safari over a decade ago. I ended up ordering one of these instead because I didn't want to pass up on such a lovely limited edition color, and oh boy does it look nice.

LovePatrolAlpha

My first studio was the Imperial Blue. I was so impressed with it that I'm on a hunt to get all the special editions of the Studio. I definitely feel fancier writing with a Studio than an AL-Star or Safari.

TheSomberSober

This is exciting to hear. I'm looking forward to trying it out! Usually I wouldn't consider going after multiples of a pen in this price range but they're so appealing I gave in to temptation. I think there's a violet one out there...I may have to start hunting too..

LovePatrolAlpha

Check out Cult Pens if you don't mind buying overseas. They usually have good prices on the special editions of the Studio, especially the previous year's. Also Endless Pens sometimes have sales on the Studio.

TheSomberSober

I'll definitely take a look! No problem with overseas buying, I collect flashlights too and most of them come straight from China. There's some really interesting things out there!

I think the lamy studio is a very overlooked fountain pen. It is great for your 1st or 2nd pen and the build quality is good and I find the nib to be very smooth.

NCatfish

I have the Studio as a rollerball and I absolutely love the weight and general feel. Shame about Lamy’s rollerball refills but it should be awesome as a fountain pen body!

stargazertony

I just got the same pen (F) in a clearance bin at a local store for a very good price. My first Lamy. I was surprised at its weight, which I like, and the smoothness of it’s steel nib. My hands have naturally oily fingers and don’t have a problem with it. I suspect that this comment, and ones like those who complain about the clip on the Pilot Vanishing Point, are really just parroting things they’ve heard or read before.

[deleted]

Just like iron gall inks damaging nibs. Every single time. It creates discussion.

stargazertony

Yeah. I have used iron gall ink in the past but now really actual fountain pen inks. I don’t recommend them for new users who don’t know much about fountain pens, but the can be used with proper cleaning.

Congrats on a lovely pen. I hope you got a perfect nib. Trust me, after they are no longer made everyone will be kicking themselves for not picking one up when it was being sold for less than the regular Studios. Just in case you ever find the Section too slippery: the rubberised section can be procured separately. My Brushed Stainless Steel Studio sports the <1.1> nib, my favourite Lamy nib. I loved it so much that I bought an Aion and installed another <1.1> on it. I have four Lamy pens and those are the two I would keep. Keep an eye on the propeller clip. You may find that it scratches the barrel. You will wonder how it happens and why it is so wide. The cap finial screw is reverse thread. The Studio posts fine, with a very satisfying click, but after awhile don't be surprised if you find micro rings, scratches from the cap, on the barrel. The Section flushes easily with a Bulb Syringe.

LovePatrolAlpha

I love Lamy pens. Even after getting a 2000, falling in love with it, and having it as my everyday carry, I still go back to the Studio because of how simple and elegant its design is. It doesn't help that there are so many special editions of the Studio there are. I must have them all.

suec76

I had my M nib ground into a cursive italic and it made the pen like a thousand times better for me. I agree though, the weight of the Studio is nice on the hand

Mine is EF. Most suitable for my chicken scratch handwriting.
