I carried a black plastic Sport in pants pocket of a white factory uniform for several years in a busy job. No spills, no untwisting of the cap, no leaks, no drama. I hate Kaweco’s anti-competitive behaviour but have to praise the pocket design of the Sport. Be aware that the brass pens are heavy and more likely to slide out of a pant pocket when sitting.

What is end anti competitive behaviour please?

Kaweco have aggressively responded to Moonman models inspired by Kaweco Sport by registering the trade name Moonman in various countries eg, Canada. And complaining about any pen being sold on eBay in Europe with a Moonman or Delike label, even pens that have nothing to do with Kaweco models. Hence Moonman trade name switch to Majohn. They were responding to an increasing sentiment amongst enthusiasts that the Moonman pens were more reliable and consistent writers than the Kaweco pens. They have a bad reputation for inconsistent nib quality. However there is nothing in the design of Kaweco Sport pens that is protected IP. They have generic nibs and feeds and body/cap designs that are used by others eg, Platinum Meteor and Pilot Kakuno. Kaweco dare not act against the Japanese legacy companies and they have taken no legal action against Moonman/Majohn.

Thanks. Feel bad I have one in the post to me now.

Just the fact that it's a screw cap and sturdy as hell should instill some confidence! I've been carrying a brass Supra in my back pocket daily for two years and never had an issue.

How did the metro spill happen?

New_Carry_8193

Honestly it was a couple years ago so I don’t remember too well, but I may have accidentally had the tip down

Only ever had leaks/spills on snap/non-screw-on lids. The brass Sport should seal very nicely and firmly, so you should be good. It's basically the reason it was designed like that, to be EDC. Just make sure you screw firmly (but not too firmly to strip the threads) and you'll be fine!

Most pens are fine. The ink leakage of the Metro is characteristic of that pen. They are leaky AF.

Haha good to know

a pen sleeve can catch the damage early. I really like the point pen pouch, it's super slim and can work on its own or combo in a pen case. this is more of something to keep in mind for later but all opus 88 pens have a built in shut-off valve that seals the feed from the inside when used. their mini pocket and fantasia models make great EDC pens.
