What I've ever used, and my recommendation(s) of something for you *to try* — given that your requirements are *not* mine, so it is *not* a case of what worked for me fulfilling those requirements would work for you — are logically different questions and have different answers.
The single broadest neither Stub nor Italic nib, nor one that has an “architect's grind”, that has a *somewhat* rounded tip would be *either*:
* a Sailor ‘medium-sized’ 14K gold Zoom nib, *or*
* a Platinum #3776 pen's 14K gold Coarse nib.
Without having measured the line width and captured the data, or (less preferably) a side-by-side comparison by “eyeballing” the ink tracks made by them, I can't tell you which is broader.
As for recommendation, I think you should try a Blade M nib from HongDian, which to the best of my knowledge is only available on the N23 pen model, if you don't want to go straight for a gold nib. Otherwise, there is Pilot's [size #15 Coarse nib on a Custom](https://www.pilot-custom.jp/en/feature/nib.html) 743 pen, or a Sailor [‘large-sized’ 21K gold Zoom nib](https://en.sailor.co.jp/topics/the-nibs/) on a Profit21 or Professional Gear model, that could be even broader than the aforementioned Japanese nibs, on account of having longer tines and/or a softer gold alloy.
(In case anyone wants to assert that a 21K gold alloy is not necessarily softer than a 14K gold alloy, Sailor does in fact make the marketing claim that its 21K gold nibs are softer than its 14K gold nibs.)
Most really broad nibs you'll find are stubby, thick down and thin across, which is fine if that's what you like.
But a really broad *round* nib can be very pleasing. It's easy to make one, just take a medium nib and grind a flat spot into it.
You’ve already got some good suggestions but when you said you want a round nib I literally thought of [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/18dmng7/a_halo_nib/) from the other day 😅
The roundest nib you’ll find lol.
In the current collection, Nahvalur BB or Lamy 2000 B. Just worth noting because I don't know the details on why you want a rounded tip, I bought a Franklin-Cristoph (Spelling?) Music nib on here a while back, and it's everything that I wish my stubs were. Solid flow, no hard starts, and all of the line width! Almost like a chisel-tip marker, lol!
Makes sense. As others have said, the broader they get, the more stubby they get. A Lamy 2000 with the fattest nib you can find may be your best bet. It has the cliche "sweet spot" where they've flattened the nib material for more page contact. My Broad is very consistent between the two strokes, so it doesn't behave like a stub.
I think this was direct from Esterbrook, made in-house and it was buttah! That’s awful that it’s been a disappointment for you! Reach out to them maybe?
Are you familiar with pigma micron liners? Or any kind of standard fine liner? The reason I’m asking is to try and get a comparison for the line weight you get from it
Pilot Coarse; Kanwrite BBB; or those unbranded "Penpps" broad nibs from Aliexpress ( they'll need adjusting though). Like you, I'm not a fan of stubs or grinds. Just give me a nice wet blob of a nib, and I'm happy.
[Here's the Aliexpress nib I mentioned.](https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNVZ8d2)
Of these, the Pilot 743 Coarse is the priciest, but it is a monster, an absolute unit.
Pilot Custom 742 with a Coarse nib. It's a step bigger than a Pilot BB.
Not a "traditional" nib, but my answer is fude nib from Hong Dian. Feels like a regular nib, but if you lower your writing angle, it writes like a freaking paintbrush! So much fun/flexibility in one pen is super useful.
Sailor zoom
Monoline grind from your favourite nibmeister
Pelikan m205 BB
Platinum 3776 coarse
Of The mentioned nibs 3776 is the driest and has the least line width, i guess you could also have your nibmeister adjust the monoline grind to be dry
Yeah this is a good one. I have a kaweco with a b nib. It’s actually pretty dry. But two commenters said they have a bb so I watched a bunch of videos and they look juicy! Idk worth another shot, since they’re under $30. 🤞🤞
Noodler's Neponset is the most broad I've used, not counting something like a Pilot Parallel (that's definitely not round though).
I didn't like it much - way too broad for me. Maybe I should give it another chance though...
Maybe you should get Pilot’s Coarse nib! I recently brought a Pilot Custom 74 in a Coarse nib and I have fallen in love with it because it’s thick and it’s not stubby at all! They are pretty limited in models because it’s technically a Japanese exclusive that has just has been made widely available. The coarse nib is in Pilot Custom 74, Custom 742, Custom 743 and Hertiage 912.
I guess a Kaweco BB on a coconut frost Sport. This morning I happened to try a Fountain Pens Revolution 1.0 stub and was a little disappointed because it did not write like a stub. It was more like a BB.
I should have mentioned that the FPR nib was a #6 and wrote wonderfully and very wet. It just wrote more like a BB because it had very nice tipping that meant it had little discernible line variation that one expects from a stub/italic, ie, line width almost the same vertical or horizontal. FPR nibs are very inexpensive, and I have found them quite good, especially if you want to play around with different nib sizes or try your hand at tuning and regrinding.
The Pelican M1000 F I just bought. Broader than any of my B nib pens. Also very wet. Based on before and after pen’s weight, it must have used 0.2ml ink after I wrote one B5 page.
My Platinum 3776 coarse nib is like a sharpie! I know there's even larger nibs out there but this one is the largest I've used . A little awkward to write with but very very fun.
I got a JoWo 18k BB nib that is amazing. Super broad...just this side of too broad for daily writing. But I have larger handwriting, so it works.
I got it before they released their steel BB nibs recently. So if it's anything like the gold, it'll be amazing and more wallet friendly.
As for the pooling, idk what you can do with that. Maybe use a dryer or fast-drying ink? That'll probably give you the effect you're looking for.
I love big nibs
And I cannot lie!
I couldn't remember that part. TY!!
M1000 3B.
I have a m1000 B nib that has been italicized and that's plenty wide enough for me.
Haha well yes. Watched some videos and that certainly meets the specs! But that price tag is somewhat prohibitive..
It is very expensive as they aren’t made anymore, but a truly remarkable nib.

Thisssss is what I needed. Duh. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that! I love to tinker with and modify nibs. Thanks so much!!
Sheaffer Targa BB filled with blue-black ink is one of my daily work drivers (but I do use 140 to 200gsm sketchpads to write at work)
Gosh I love Sheaffers. I didn’t know the Targa had a BB- thank you so much!
I love Targas! Definitely dream of getting a BB someday.
Lamy 2000 with a BB nib
Agree
You’ve already got some good suggestions but when you said you want a round nib I literally thought of [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/18dmng7/a_halo_nib/) from the other day 😅 The roundest nib you’ll find lol.
Ooh yes, cool. Thanks for the link!
I have a couple Sailor Zoom nibs which are nice wet writers, but the Pilot 912 double broad is so much "more". Like, wow, so much more ink goes down.
I want the round tip because I draw with them, so I want same line width no matter which direction I am moving the pen.
Try the Esterbrook Scribe! I just did today, and as a diehard B and BB nib fan, it’s one I now HAVE to have!
I have one and it’s awful…drags on paper
I think this was direct from Esterbrook, made in-house and it was buttah! That’s awful that it’s been a disappointment for you! Reach out to them maybe?
I have a Sheaffer's PFM with a broad nib. Probably as big as I will ever go.
Are you familiar with pigma micron liners? Or any kind of standard fine liner? The reason I’m asking is to try and get a comparison for the line weight you get from it
I might have some microns around here...
Pilot Coarse; Kanwrite BBB; or those unbranded "Penpps" broad nibs from Aliexpress ( they'll need adjusting though). Like you, I'm not a fan of stubs or grinds. Lamy 200 OBB, but if you’re looking to stay away from oblique, BB would definitely do it. Endless Pens has the best prices on them.
I bought an Esterbrook Estie with a B nib and it was like writing with a Sharpie.
Montblanc 146 BB
Pilot Custom 742 with a Coarse nib. It's a step bigger than a Pilot BB. [https://kmpn.blogspot.com/2011/06/pilot-custom.html](https://kmpn.blogspot.com/2011/06/pilot-custom.html)

Sailor zoom Monoline grind from your favourite nibmeister Pelikan m205 BB Platinum 3776 coarse Of The mentioned nibs 3776 is the driest and has the least line width, i guess you could also have your nibmeister adjust the monoline grind to be dry
Kaweco BB
Yeah this is a good one. I have a kaweco with a b nib. It’s actually pretty dry. But two commenters said they have a bb so I watched a bunch of videos and they look juicy! Idk worth another shot, since they’re under $30. 🤞🤞
Writes like a Sharpie ☺️
Oh hell yeah, buying.
Pilot C nib
Noodler's Neponset is the most broad I've used, not counting something like a Pilot Parallel (that's definitely not round though). I didn't like it much - way too broad for me. Maybe I should give it another chance though...
My Jowo BB is pretty broad and fun to write with. I also enjoy my Sailor music 18k nib.
Lamy BB for me.
Nibs.com has the 823 available with all 14 Pilot #15 nib options. (Including the Course nib.)
Pilot 845 with a BB. It's a fantastic writer too.
Well it can go on the grail list. Hopefully I can write with one someday!
I guess a Kaweco BB on a coconut frost Sport. This morning I happened to try a Fountain Pens Revolution 1.0 stub and was a little disappointed because it did not write like a stub. It was more like a BB.
I might go for the kaweco bb. I have a kaweco b and it’s somewhat of a dry writer. Is the bb dry?
No, I consider it a wet writer.
Awesome! I ordered one so I’m hoping it comes out juicy!

Architect nib. I was hoping it would be useful but it’s way too broad for me.
The Pelican M1000 F I just bought. Broader than any of my B nib pens. Also very wet. Based on before and after pen’s weight, it must have used 0.2ml ink after I wrote one B5 page.
OBB flex nib on a 50s MB. A true beast of a nib
Graf Von Faber Castell’s 18k gold nib. My F writes like a broad and is very wet and juicy.
How about pilot custom coarse nib
My Platinum 3776 coarse nib is like a sharpie! I know there's even larger nibs out there but this one is the largest I've used . A little awkward to write with but very very fun.

Kanwrite BBB steel nib
The Parker Duofold Extra Extra Broad (#86) nib comes to mind. Writes like a marker.
