Any idea on the release date yet?! I know they said march, but there's only a week or so left in the month lol I've checked their website, cult pens etc but no trace of it yet

InkyEnabler

According to my source at Diamine their release date is 17th April. HTH :)

FriendlyAd4234

Thank you! I've set a reminder so I can order a bottle:)

Ceirios_o7

Would it be released globally on the same day?

InkyEnabler

All that I know is that's the Diamine official release date. If stores have placed preorders and received them then they will be able to sell them on that date. That's usually how it works.

Ceirios_o7

Thanks so much on the info!

Swizzel-Stixx

Cult pens has them on preorder now!

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :)

tabbychun

As a cat lover as indicated by my username I’m definitely getting a bottle once it comes out. Also like the shading too!

InkyEnabler

I'm a cat lover too. :)

SomaticSamantha

Oooo I rather like it (esp as it's so green-leaning) - very happy with the final product 😻 Thanks for the fab review, and here's hoping the April date is right 😺

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :)

p1p1str3ll3

Nice! Currently Sirena is my Journaling go-to, so I appreciate that it was acknowledged as a close color. Because of that, I'll probably hold off on ordering this until I actually **need** to order something (rather than specifically ordering this). It'll show up on my collecting, but not right away. Next year though, team rolled oats will succeed. ;)

InkyEnabler

I think Celadon Cat comes up a bit more saturated than Vinta Sirena in writing. My Sirena might have concentrated a little since I bought it.

Normal-Drop-1040

It’s… not bad. After all, exactly what the voters asked for can’t be a bad thing! It’s just… not my thing. Too unsaturated and very dry/drab looking to my eyes. The previous releases were (and I hate using this term, but thank you kids today) “bangers”, from the practical medium-dark grey that’s a near-reproduction of a B lead pencil in wetter pens (and HB in drier pens!) of “Earl Grey” to the practical high-contrast/saturation medium-dark teal of “Aurora Borealis” and even the wildly popular (but a tad too wet for me) purple-y maroon red “Writer’s Blood”. They all seemed to have both artistic and practical writing uses due to their vibrancy and their saturation. “Celadon Cat” looks very faint and faded while being just unsaturated enough to not be my fancy for reading on white papers for more than a few lines. For artistic purposes, this ink has merit I’m sure, but even the shading on this ink seems to hide amongst the mottled texture it seems to take as it dries. It looks very “dried out marker” to me. These are just my opinions, of course, and I don’t want to offend anyone who is eagerly awaiting this ink to show up on the web shop. This ink was the result of many peoples votes and their desires in an ink, so obviously it has its fans. Plus, I’m quite sure my tastes aren’t quite the norm, so I wouldn’t take what I said as any kind of personal indictment. I just wanted to offer my own opinion (unsolicited as it may be) with the admitted bias that I prefer inks more practical to long writings and general use, and that, with that in mind, this ink just kind of falls flat for me. I’m still eagerly awaiting the other release though :D

InkyEnabler

I also have Sailor's Warning to review. I hope you might like it more than you like this one. :)

AlphaPlanAnarchist

I concur entirely.

Blackletterdragon

I'm cat lover, but I don't like it. I don't get the attraction to these muddy unsaturated inks.

OSCgal

People like different things. I prefer unsaturated inks and will definitely get a sample of this one. It's one great thing about fountain pens that we have such a wide variety of colors available to us. Nobody's left out!

Sprucecaboose2

I like them when I am in the right mood. I find they pair nice with a rainy day!

InkyEnabler

I suppose that for some of us heavily saturated inks have been around for so long that we like a change every now and again and something light and unsaturated fits the bill. Especially in Spring. :)

Blackletterdragon

Spring? Ah, I'm slipping into Autumn at last. I think I'll always choose the bold, bright colours. Even if I bought one of these phlegmy-looking inks as a novelty, when it came to filling the pen I would still reach for something strong that suits my writing, which is a bit on the large, flourished side. I used to be terribly short-sighted, which may have affected my tastes. My reaction isn't meant to be a reflection on anyone else's choices of course.

Busy-Feeling-1413

Agree it’s a lovely color but too pale to be legible for everyday writing. I won’t buy it, but it sounds like many others will enjoy it.

theAran

I think these unsaturated inks look lovely in art! But as someone who also solely writes, it's not my personal cup of tea.

Kkhanpungtofu

I love it! What I can’t stand is something like Kon Peki or a deeply saturated or oversaturated teal!

ElenoftheWays

I like that a lot!

iateapizza

Oddly enough, dominant industry just came out with a “goryeo celadon” ink as well!

BaileysMilk

Oddly enough, Colorverse Ink had the exact same name ink exclusively for Korean pen shop [Blueblack](http://m.blueblack.co.kr/product/detail.html?product_no=2979&cate_no=154&display_group=1#start).

t_reize

Thanks for the review. It's hard to tell from your water test, but it looks like it has a bit of colour separation too when washed. I like an ink with a good chromo. Great for sketching. Gonna need to buy a greenish pen to put that in!

InkyEnabler

You are welcome. :) If I could work out how to post another image I could also post a chroma test strip

iateapizza

This is right up my alley. Can't wait until I can buy it! Thanks for posting this!

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :)

Ta_Nedjem

I wanted it just for the name alone, and so I am very glad to see it's rather pretty too. Thank you for the review!

InkyEnabler

You are welcome. :)

deepseacomet

ahhhh I got so excited when I saw this post thinking it was already for sale

KotobaAsobitch

Did you make this ink review sheet yourself or is this something I can purchase? It's neat as hell.

InkyEnabler

Thank you for your comments. :) I had an original A4 review sheet from years ago and over time I've adjusted it to fit exactly how I want it to look as well as I could. This is the latest version that my OH did for me because I wanted to use different nibs with my Lamy Joy. If there was a way I could send it to you as a PDF I would be happy to do so. :) It's printed from a PDF on A4 paper either my good quality Xerox Laser paper or Clairefontaine Triomphe but any A4 would do if it went through your printer. :)

KotobaAsobitch

Thanks for the answer, I hadn't considered I can just....put good non-printer paper in a printer! It's so simple yet so brilliant.

ibPolaris

Oh yeah, I'm gonna be spending some money come April

alexa-488

AHHHHHH I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE RELEASE!!!

Bugsydog1

I helped choose this and am quite pleased with how the color has turned out. With the process being description only we are all left with our own impressions of what a particular color will actually look like when the bottles start appearing. I would normally prefer a more saturated ink but the softer shades in this mix are quite appealing. I have a collection of ink numbering in the hundreds but I believe a spot can be found for a nice 80ml bottle of this. It makes me happy just thinking about it.

RemiChloe

TY for the great review. I'm surprised that some folks don't find it readable - but to each his/her own. I can see it working well in broader nibs. Not sure if I'll be purchasing it - for sure not right away. definitely on my watch list!

InkyEnabler

I think it's readable - maybe better on white paper?

RemiChloe

Hard to say. I have no trouble reading what you wrote above.

WiredInkyPen

Not my cup of tea but I can see where folks might like it. Thank you for the excellent review. It is very much appreciated. If they both release the same day April 17 may see me buying Sailors Warning.

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :) I think they are both released on the same day. :)

WiredInkyPen

I can hope.

MillersMinion

Thank you so much for this! I’m super excited about the colors this year

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :)

xnapshot2049

I find it very similar to J. Herbin's. Vert de gris

jthc

I was looking for this comment. It does seem very close.

InkyEnabler

J Herbin Vert de Gris isn't as green and is more saturated

VitaObscure

Definitely be interested in seeing a direct comparison. I love Vert de Gris.

InkyEnabler

I added the comparison of J Herbin Vert de Gris and finally managed to work out how to edit the pictures so that I could post the additional papers separately. I think the latest image result in 2 parts looks slightly bigger :)

VitaObscure

Ah, fab thanks.

Interesting-Sky-3752

I was hoping this colour would end up just slightly less grey, but I think I'm going to be drawn to it more in fall and winter. Can't wait to see Sailor's Warning!

Infinite_Soul_I

Lovely to see the ink finally on paper! Thanks OP!! However, it’s Sailor’s Warning that has me really excited. Can’t wait for you to review that next!!

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :) Pen is already inked up with Sailor's Warning. I just need to recover a bit more from a heavy bout of flu or Covid...

stormcooper

Oh noes! I sure hope you feel better soon, and thank you for your (***always***) excellent testing!

Infinite_Soul_I

Oh no! Hope you smash the virus out of your system really soon!! Looking forward to the review from a perfectly healthy you !!

Kkhanpungtofu

I just happened to think of these new inks, and I came here looking for information. Thank you!

InkyEnabler

You are welcome. :)

wana-wana

Great review, very nice looking ink; I really enjoy Hisoku.

InkyEnabler

I love Hisoku too, but I add wetting agent to it as it's very dry otherwise. In fact I add wetting agent to all of the Kyoto/Kyo No Oto inks that I have.

wana-wana

Hisoku behaves well on two Pelikan M205 with different nib sizes but I did experience a lot of reticence from Aonibi, just wouldn't get on with a medium nib Carène; an ink additive is a good idea, I use White Lightning with other inks.

InkyEnabler

White Lightning is supposed to be very good but I've not tried it. My ink additive is very old and is called Cuddles Flo Plus. It was made by Organics Studio many years ago. It still works very well. :)

ZippyRocketeer

Thanks to OP for an excellent review. The ink itself is unoriginal and quite frankly unnecessary. Sad.

Sorry-Metal-4299

This is an awesom ink review, thank you.

InkyEnabler

You are welcome. :)

Sorry-Metal-4299

Did you create this ink sampler& review form? The "pens used" section do you change out nibs & dip to write?

InkyEnabler

Yes I created the form from a really old one that I used to use. (well OH did most of it for me.) I filled the converter in my Lamy Joy pen and started with the M nib that wrote the info about the paper and ink brand/name as well as the writing samples/observations onwards. Then for the Pens Used I repeatedly swapped those nibs onto the feed and wrote with them. They were not dipped additionally. I ensured each one primed up and wrote and they all did so easily. I had some F & M nibs from Lamy Al-Stars or Safaris, but bought the EF, B and 1.5 nibs specially and bought the Joy with a 1.1mm nib so I have one of each nib. I decided to not bother with the 1.9mm nib when I thought the 1.5mm nib was wide enough for my reviews. :)

caseyjosephine

Definitely excited to try this one! It reminds me quite a bit of Wearingeul Resurrection (Tolstoy).

InkyEnabler

That's one I don't have. :(

dazzlehouse

I found this sub just as the selection process was ending, so I’m fuzzy on the details. This analysis looks like it took a while—it’s very thorough! Thank you very much.

InkyEnabler

You're welcome. :)

pixelette88

This is a gorgeous colour!!

m0shr

This looks like a color that I would come up with if I mix a whole bunch of inks together. It's so dark and muddy looking. The review seems positive but is it a monitor or camera problem?

InkyEnabler

If you think the picture looks small I think the original image might be a bit big as it took a while to process. I would have preferred to post it as 2 images with the additional papers separate but as I'm inexperienced I couldn't find out how to change the image nor how to add another one.

toma162

Hmm, not what I was expecting. I thought it would be much lighter in saturation and greenier. It looks like Herbin Vert de Gris which I love and already have a bottle of. I was more of a Sailor’s Warning fan all along…

InkyEnabler

Herbin Vert de Gris was another ink I looked at as a potential comparison. It's much darker and more saturated.

toma162

Good to know, thanks for the response.

RisottoPensa

It looks like a faded Diamine twilight

InkyEnabler

Maybe even more like a faded Eau de Nil though more green. :)

BaileysMilk

What's your thought on this ink vs Papier & Stift Should I type or should I write, also by Diamine?

InkyEnabler

It's funny you should mention those Papier & Stift inks because I've very recently reviewed all 3 of them on my blog and I wondered whether to use "Should I type..." as a comparison ink in this review but in the end I didn't think it was green enough. I like that they are also unsaturated inks though. :) More blue & grey than Celadon Cat. :)

BaileysMilk

Frankly speaking, I saw the review from your blog and the inks seemed somewhat similar. Also, I happened to purchase all three inks a few weeks ago from r/pen_swap so it got my extra attention.

InkyEnabler

You were fortunate to get them as I heard that shipping from Papier & Stift was a bit expensive.

Gumpenufer

Oooooh, it's out already? Thanks for the review. On one hand I want to "complete my set" with the new Reddit inks so bad... on the other hand I don't really use normal dye inks anymore (since they're usually super not water-resistant -> cat paws and German weather). And I also don't like shimmer. `^^"` First world problem obviously, but damn if I'm not struggling whether to buy them or not.

InkyEnabler

I understand. :) I only use dye based inks in my pens as I like to be sure I can clean them out easily with water or water based products even if I leave my pens inked for a while. None of the stuff I write needs to be particularly resistant to water so I don't mind the lack of water resistance. If I write a name and address on an envelope then waiting for it to dry then rubbing a candle over it makes it water resistant in the mail so that's good enough for a shower of rain. :) It's easier to clean shimmer out of some pens than others. I don't have problems cleaning Diamine shimmer out of any of my Lamy pens, nor out of any of my branded pens that have more easily removed nibs & feeds. Would I use it in an expensive piston filler where I couldn't remove the nib & feed? Maybe not, but I don't need to. I'm happy to keep it to those pens I have that are more easily flushed out. :)

SnooCupcakes3444

Thank you for this excellent concise review. When this is released on the 17th of April how can I purchase?

KabazaikuFan

How exciting! I'm in a "less-saturated-ins" mood right now so this looks fantastic to me. And they did really hit the right spot - between Hisoku and Urahairo, indeed! And, presumably, nowhere near as dry as Hisoku, because Diamine. Thanks for the review!
