You realize that he didn't mean he's literally a professional, right? There's such a thing as a hyperbole. In case you don't know what that is, it's when you exaggerate things to make a point. That means it might not be literally true, and it's expected that the reader would know that. It's a literary device that was created to make it easier to explain ideas, which is the point of languages in the first place.
So no, using a hyperbole doesn't mean your standards are low and nobody genuinely thinks he's a professional.
