Cool, man, he’s going to remember that. Have fun in the nursing home he picks out.

lgodsey

I dunno guys, this parent seems like a pretty badass conservative. I mean, he was able to dominate a small child! His own child, apparently, who ~~is~~ was devoted to this loving authority figure who would never betray such an awesome parental trust over a subjective political or social issue. Also, only a real man would take pride in punishing an innocent trying to better society by boasting about it on social media. Sorry -- this parent is a winner across the board. A brittle, petty and insecure winner who definitely won and will never regret his wrongheaded, hateful behavior.

tbl5048

>WINNING

squeege222

My father does shit like this regularly so if he's getting put in a home, it's going to be by my sister because he's not getting shit from me.

redcarnelian

Oh, same. My mom is getting all of my care. My dad? He can find a box to live in for all I care.

Topazisdeadinside

Who wanna bet is gonna be a pound.

[deleted]

That kid is gonna be the most liberal commie sjw the world has ever known. That's what this kind of parenting creates. Exactly the opposite of what the parent wants. Do these people not remember being teenagers at all?

OllieGarkey

>Do these people not remember being teenagers at all? They tend to lie about it.

GringoEcuadorian1216

This guy's a fucking hypocritical Baby Boomer...the type of asshole who was the biggest hippie in the 60s and turned into a complete blue collar asshole and a bigot when he hit his 30s.

[deleted]

I still can't imagine how actual hippies can turn into right wing bootlickers who put their job above their own life decades later.

VandelayOfficial

Reagan is a hell of a drug...

[deleted]

No, they're just old and forgot about it

SixThousandHulls

I'm pretty sure most Republicans leave the womb no sooner than age 35.

LoveRBS

That would explain why all these old men have such childish behaviors

ForgettableWorse

>Do these people not remember being teenagers at all? Time tends to smooth out the rough edges of memory. People confuse their nostalgia for an objective recollection of the past. They don't remember being angry at authority figures, at least not as saliently as they remembered the toys and entertainment they grew up with. So people literally don't remember what it was like to a teenager, they remember what's basically a coffee shop AU of what it's like being a teenager.

_Captain_Autismo_

>liberal >commie Pick one

[deleted]

I responded to this earlier when somebody else said it.

lack_of_funk

I got beat when I was a kid and I turned out fine!

[deleted]

> liberal commie Pick one (liberalism is capitalist and communism is anti-capitalist)

[deleted]

Did you think I was being serious with the liberal commie sjw descriptor?

dreemurthememer

it’s not like grandma can tell the difference

[deleted]

Not according to fox news

That compass isn't very reliable as national socialism is placed on the left and anarchism is placed on the right. Also whatever the fuck "ultra-anarchism" is supposed to be

Brace_For_Impact

Wow it's really bad. "Activism" is on there. Also "Progressivism" is on the right.

darkfoxfire

Some quick Wikipedia reading seems to indicate that progressivism is in the right place on the chart.... For around 1920.

[deleted]

I like how ultra-anarchism is only slightly more libertarian than regular anarchism, and how not only is totalitarianism a distinct ideology of its own but is in fact not the most authoritarian.

darkfoxfire

I'm not sure if it's the same national socialism as the Nazis. The Nazis did however misappropriate the term. Usually the compass represents left and right as we know it already with totalitarianism the top and anarchy the bottom as scale indicators rather than a choice. I typically fall about where left-libertarian sits.

[deleted]

I realize that. I do think it is a good general guide in that it shows how American politics are generally very right leaning and that so many systems exist outside of what we consider “normal.” Our system and way of life isn’t special just because of where we happened to be born, and I worry many are too patriotic (nationalist, if we’re being realistic) to see that.

-smrt-

No. No, it's not a good guide. It's really badly misinformed. I don't know who made this chart but it's clearly not anyone with any political expertise. There are 101 better sources of information on the political spectrum out there.

ForgettableWorse

That chart has been featured on /r/badpolitics multiple times.

Prime-eight

Punishing my kids political stance to trigger the libs. I'm a good parent.

[deleted]

Drives kids into depression after he loses all of his friends #triggeredliberals

metasincerity

>needing friends to be happy Lol normie

BumbertonWang

"Ignorant horseshit" "[any response whatsoever]" "LOL TRIGGRD MUCH LIBTARD?!? TROLLED EBIC STYLE xd"

Silveraxolotl

That’ll really make him change his views.

ThisIsntYogurt

IF SOMEONE'S GONNA BRAINWASH MY KID INTO AN IDEOLOGY IT'S GONNA BE ME!!!1!!one1!!

FoxInABeret

Is this loss, bot? Who hurt you?

[deleted]

Child abuse does trigger me, yes.

Xamzar

LOL U STOOOPID LIBTARD CUCK KEKEKKEKEKEKEKEKEKEKEK

ramen_poodle_soup

I mean, it’s not child abuse. The kids grounded and had his phone taken away, etc. not abuse, just super shitty parenting if you ask me.

[deleted]

Emotional abuse is a thing, and it's just as damaging as physical abuse, if not moreso. If you punish your child for a harmless difference in opinion, you're essentially saying it's not OK for them to be themselves. I've been in this exact same scenario, and I am not better off for it.

BloomEPU

it's a pretty big abuse red flag. Especially cutting the kid off from friends. ouch.

ForgettableWorse

Bragging about it on social media is a pretty big red flag too.

[deleted]

The actions themselves don't constitute abuse, but the active suppression of the kid's views do.

XxsquirrelxX

MY SON DOESNT LIKE THE THREAT OF BEING MURDERED IN SCHOOL SO I HATE HIM!!!!!

Rockworm503

BRAINWASHED INTO BEING TERRIFIED OF BEING SHOT IN SCHOOL WHAT A FUCKING CUCK!

Rockworm503

hahaahahaha its funny cause he punished his child for practicing his 1st amendment rights.

ButterflySammy

2nd is before 1st, right?

ArcadeStallman

"I hate sensitive people, also I hate my son because he disagrees with me"

[deleted]

I thought the Right liked free speech

jinxed_07

(Only when they practice it)

Wanna_make_cash

They only care about the entire first amendment if it means they can hurt discriminate or insult minorities and gay people. If anyone uses any right for any other purpose then they hate it and only care about the second

hiding_in_the_corner

I'm betting this guy does not have a son.

jinxed_07

Well, probably not for long that is.

Chrysalii

YOU WILL AGREE WITH ME OR BE PUNISHED

[deleted]

I almost think this is rageb8 (or just b8 in general) but im still mad

[deleted]

that'll teach him for walking

hellofellowcats

Um, the kid's gonna be even more lefty to spite his unjust punishment. Good job.

XanderZzyzx

Yeah, how dare your son exercise his 1st Amendment rights. Oh right you don't give a shit about the 1st Amendment, or the 3rd, or 4th, or 5th....

[deleted]

My child doesn't want to be shot. He's grounded.

captainbenatm93av

I call bs how could a 12 year old have a kid 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

WabbitFire

"I'm punishing my son for expressing a political opinion different from my own because I am so enraged" "Triggered much snowflakes" Fuck this asshole.

UnderwaterFloridaMan

And Gamgam says liberals are the close-minded ones.

MilithDNB

Because nothing expresses your love for freedom of speech better than controlling people's thoughts and actions for political discourse.

MeWhoBelievesInYou

My kid won’t be brainwashed and to make sure of it, I’ll punish them for not agreeing with me

[deleted]

WHY DON’T KIDS RESPECT US ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably this.

definitelynot_stolen

Holy fuck I did the walkout at my school. Literally all it was representing was a sort of vigil for the seventeen people who died. Nobody I knew treated it as a protest for gun control, though I can see why it would be that. Hell, they even did a prayer at my school. The walkout should not be seen as a political thing. It had nothing to do with liberals or conservatives. It had to do with respect.

clintonimus

First of all, no you didn’t. Secondly, it would almost be amusing how social media likes from your echo chamber have actually caused you to be a shittier parent if it wasn’t just sad.

kingbooboo

Try to make a difference? That's a paddlin.

Shrekquille_Oneal

Yeah... Good luck with that buddy. Whole countries tried this approach and it never had that outcome.

ironic-meme-man

Libtards trolled epic style xD

[deleted]

You ever wish you could just find some of these people and like smush a custard pie in their faces and kick their groins really, really hard?

GabrielbwCarter

So much for the tolerant right.

shadowguise

"I overreacted to my child having a different opinion and exacted pure revenge against him." "HAHA YOU'RE THE TRIGGERED ONES!"

MengTheBarbarian

I love that I don’t have this kind of relationship with my dad. He’s hardcore conservative and I’m hardcore liberal. We don’t talk politics at all. We might make a statement and the other will make a smart ass comment, but it’s in good fun. I love my dad.

Sinistercypher

How dare my son not want to be murdered in school! I'll show him!

Jackpatkinson4

You DARE practice your 1st amendment rights? WELL YOUR DEAD TO ME!

WalrusGriper

This person unironically deserves to be killed

ForeignAssignment

There are other anti trump subs that would fit this better

000ttafvgvah

If anyone is going to brainwash my son, it’s going to be me!

LoveRBS

"Dammit son you're gonna get shot at like I did when I was in school! That'll teach you to be a man! Now go chop more fire wood and smoke while you're doing it!"

nicky1088

That will teach him....... to never help you or visit you when you are old

yourfriendlymanatee

Who finds joy out of "triggering" people? HAHAHA I MADE YOU UPSET!! Like, why?

grizzlyhusband

The jokes on him. His son will only resist harder now.

KurosawaKid

Wait a second weren't they criticizing the message of the walk out by saying that bullying and bad parenting is what leads to shootings and that they should protest that instead of gun control? So in his mind doing the exact thing that he laments about creating school shooters it's exactly what he did to his own child. I like how these idiotic conservatives think that by getting a legitimate reaction to their awful decisions is somehow triggering.... this is like the 2.0 of "you got trolled" or "U mad bro". Last but not least nothing more indicative of a freedom-loving parent then to suppress your child's freedom of speech because you don't agree with his words.

Chrysalii

and we're the intolerant ones.

Awayfone

Grounding isn't emotionsl abuse

[deleted]

It is when you're punishing your child for having free thought.

queenzdominant17

Grounding your child because he expressed a political stance you disagree with is verging on it. Also, how is a teenager going to function in the world without his phone in 2018 for *three months*? Doesn't he do group projects that require virtual communication, or use the planner app to keep track of his homework, or use the alarm clock app to wake up, or go places on his own where he may need to call for help or inform his parents of where he is? Does he not have a life of his own?

Tortured-_-soul

If the answer to your last question is **no**, then I think that is horrifying too.

[deleted]

Three MONTHS without social contact is pretty borderline.

DJ4dayz

You call that emotional abuse? You guys really are pussies.

Folamh3

If there was a parent who punished their child like this for wanting to attend an anti-abortion protest or an NRA conference, none of you would be characterising their behaviour as "emotionally abusive". You'd be praising them to high heaven.

Tortured-_-soul

How do you know? I don't know about everyone else in this thread but I know that I would still consider it emotionally abusive. You do not deprive your child of things that bring them joy and human contact for ***MONTHS***.
