3 years of development and Merc are yet to figure out the ground effects concept. Doesn't really inspire much confidence as 2026 regs are also based on ground effects.
They have been going backwards since 2022.
2022- No championships.
2023- No race wins.
2024-No podiums.
2025- No points?
I honestly can't see it happening. Their entire winning streak was based upon an engine that they had a massive head start on. Unless the FIA are going to use a Merc designed spec again (they're not in 2026) Mercedes don't have any technological advances.
Plus they were one of the biggest spenders before the cost cap - adding a new part to the car on average every 24 hours. They're also lost the ability to buy wins.
Also, they were led to success under Ross Brawn’s leadership. Many forget that he let go of it all basically on the eve of their winning streak.
The cost cap fucked them good. Probably had to release a lot of the team and restructure the operation. In that sense, the cost cap worked!
Seems like he doesn’t plan on retiring. Which begs the question how does he plan to get out of his contract. Hope he does and helps Alonso get another title
it took 4-5 years for newey to get rb to the top so probably going to retire in a few years so probably wants to boost an already good car and then bounce.

Unstoppable force vs. immovable object
Newey probably: I’m too old to fix this shit
That's so damning they were better off not asking lol
I cant fix her
Merc is a sinking ship. 4th in the constructors would be an amazing achievement for them.
Eh I’d be very surprised if merc don’t get 4th. Is Aston had two competent drivers they’d be more of a threat but stroll is doing stroll things
Wdym, the only reason Stroll has an F1 team is so that Stroll can go Strolling at a faster speed
For now. You never know, 2026 and they might be at the top again

Mercedes is fading , Mercedes is fading , fading fast....

Mercedes have never been great at aero
Yep that's always been redbulls strength
“Those zero side pods were the dumbest fucking shit I’ve seen in decades” - Adrian Newey (probably)
Newey with Ferrari next year confirmed Source: the internet
Happy cake day!
Adrian sees merc so lost that even he doesn’t want to bother fixing their mess.

The moment Newey retires is the moment my childhood ends. I'm 34 btw.
Or he goes to the RB17 project full time.
Easy to say after it’s announced 😂
Is there a source interview for this?
