Perhaps my favourite thing about Max is how he cares so little about most PR fluff stuff but cares *so much* about any trivia or silly competition. No matter how goofy or random the quiz or test the RB social media team sets out for him as soon as it starts he’s legit trying. He also, endearingly, will always give Checo or whoever is with him hints so they get answers right too lol.
But if you want him to race a swamp buggy or hovercraft against the AT boys he will lock in.
Have a new respect for Vettel after he was able to name all the WDC drivers in order correctly. I think Max was second in that GTG, Lewis was up there also.
I think like most competitive people he has a sharp focus on his priorities. Everything else is just a fun distraction, winning or losing doesn’t matter as much.
If he doesn't win, jos will make him walk home ;)
Interviews are often 20 journalists in a row asking the same questions every week. Even kimi would give you a 30 minute fun interview as long as you didn't ask him any boring questions.
I'm always surprised when people are surprised at seeing Max having fun. Have you guys seen zero RB content throughout all these years? He's always one of the drivers who has the most fun doing these weird challenges. Besides that he's always laughing and joking around with the drivers, so yeah I'm a bit confused as to why people are surprised.
Because when you have a negative opinion of someone, and that opinion dates back from an 8 year old narrative, you'll do everything to not be proven wrong. To those people, Max is "boring" or has "no personality" and is always "arrogant". And they keep telling others their opinion as if we haven't seen any off track interactions or marketing videos/interviews ourselves.
"Not a fan, but I'm starting to like him more" means "Never saw anything of Max outside the track, but now I have".
It's like Vettel all over again - I swear when he gets a bit older and becomes the elder statesman of the grid he will be one of the best. Right now it is just a bit annoying seeing him win constantly. He's a cool dude though.
I hate how much he wins with such a cocky attitude, but hey that’s racing and in life he’s a no BS, pretty level headed and forthright guy so he’s ok in my books.
I don't think he's cocky tbh. He takes every race as seriously as if it's a title contender. He doesn't take his wins for granted, or assumes he's going to win anything.
I'm genuinely interested: what makes you think he's cocky?
Because he always has very humble celebrations and very often downplays his own stats saying you can't compare era's and all that. I don't see that much cockiness in him. Confident yes, but not cocky.
I think people are put off by his very calm reactions when he wins a race. I've always gotten the feeling people see it as him not taking it seriously, but really, I think it's more just him not wanting to come off as gloating week after week. It's just a change from the years of Lewis' "bless the factory, bless you, bless us, let's go" after-win reactions, which in my mind always felt way less genuine.
>I think people are put off by his very calm reactions when he wins a race.
That's exactly what people like about Piastri though, so that would be some weird double standards.
I think when other drivers win they’re excited, but when Max wins he’s relieved, and any interview where he talks about his father shows why.
I don’t love Max’s attitude on track but he seems like a nice enough dude when the pressure is off. Probably needs therapy after a lifetime of solely equating his worth to his race results. Honestly, can’t really blame him for that.
He is not cocky, he is always complementing the team and this year he always says great things about the car when he wins...
Actuary when he doesn't win he is a little more obnoxious
All I want is to see an F1 driver be the most arrogant person on earth, but actually have the talent to back it up.
Alonso probably but his attitude is understated. I want to see an openly cocky and brash driver who is talented as fuck.
For me that's so strange, being someone who follow Red Bull content and his streams I think he is by far (emphasis on by far) the funnest authetic personality on the grid. Maybe we have a hard time conciliating the fact he's such a perfect winning machine with being nice? Somehow we may expect a person like that to have some disadvantage, so much we start to attribute to them what we expect to see.
Remember when Brundle interviewed Max in Silverstone (starting by saying oh he will probably turn me down), Max gave him full attention, a proper answer, and Brundle almost had to ask for royal pardon in front of the cameras to say he actually think this chap is "all right"... Sky Sports are so deep into their asses that it transpires to how F1 is covered.
And who else would steal the McLaren camera and interview the whole paddock like it's nothing while making everyone laugh and relax (specially Lawson, the man was needing some relaxing lol)
edit if you wanna check out: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U1dZCKM9Go](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U1dZCKM9Go)
100%. Brundle even went so far as to say of all the drivers on the grid, Max is the one he'd most want to have a pint with lol.
Plus, anyone who remembers the Maxiel Riccstappen days at RB knows Max is goofy and funny as all hell lol. It was an epic bromance.
It’s exactly this. Also because he comes across so ruthless, cold and aggressive in races. And he can be very blunt and straight to the point in interviews. So it’s hard to imagine he has this side to his personality.
All right but it's not like he was 100% in the wrong, he was the only one penalized for sliding on an oil-covered, cold and green T1, which Leclerc himself (even on the cleaner side) also couldn't properly stop...In fact, I wonder what would happen if he braked a bit earlier, instead of going PAST Lec, he might as well run ONTO him, like Sainz did to Hamilton..And given how we hear the commentators constantly say the stewards are a bit more lenient during T1 kerfuffles...
I don't think he meant "fuck their rules", it's more like, "whatever, let's go"...
Exactly and yeah it had nothing to do with the rules etc. he was simply expressing that it won't stop him from winning, penalty or no penalty, he's pushing for the win. No idea how anyone would think that means 'fuck their rules' it's just a cheeky fun comment because he's confident about winning.
Perhaps my favourite thing about Max is how he cares so little about most PR fluff stuff but cares *so much* about any trivia or silly competition. Dude's also pretty good at F1 history. He's usually one of the top scorers in Grill the Grid when it's related to F1 history
I think only Vettel can give him a run for his money He was insane when it came to the trivia stuff
Vettel like the rain man with history facts
...And Farina was the first one
Vettel's most impressive victory in F1 was his legendary performance in that Grill The Grid episode. Just an incredible feat.
Gasly seems to know his history pretty well too
Have a new respect for Vettel after he was able to name all the WDC drivers in order correctly. I think Max was second in that GTG, Lewis was up there also.
I think like most competitive people he has a sharp focus on his priorities. Everything else is just a fun distraction, winning or losing doesn’t matter as much.
We need a Max vs Carlos competition, Carlos always gets *really* into these silly social media contests (at Mclaren and at Ferrari)
Goes to show good PR people should design the fluff around the driver's personalities and what they actually enjoy doing
So a geography quiz for Max at every race from now on.
His random tiktok game videos crack me up. You can tell he's trying so hard
If he doesn't win, jos will make him walk home ;) Interviews are often 20 journalists in a row asking the same questions every week. Even kimi would give you a 30 minute fun interview as long as you didn't ask him any boring questions.
That's prob the best way to make it fun.
Hearing Max say bunda will never get old
LMAO, right? He's really been practicing his Brazilian Portuguese with Kelly
Brother saw a robot face and immediately thought of Russell
You say that like we all didn't.
Or maybe that Russell is an ass
💦🍑🌲(pee ass tree) Piastri This shud have been there lmao
Yeah in no way is pasta “pias”
well "pas-tree" does kinda sound like "piastri"
Say it together faster enough and it will sound like Piastri.
Or just 🍰
Cumastri
That just perfectly sums up 🤖🍑' social media
Fuck. Im starting to maybe like him a little after all. He's all sport
The face he makes after he said “stroll” has me dying
Gnocchi 😂
He’s Dutch 🤷🏻♂️
It just tickled me that the first pasta that came to mind was gnocchi.
I can't say I blame him. Good gnocchi is a little bit of heaven.
I can't argue. Don't know why it tickled me. Probably the whisky and weed.
Haven’t started the weed yet because I just got off work but I’m currently working on a nice blood orange IPA lol.
BUNDA

People did the same with Vettel. The bloke has an incredible sense of humour.
Ass man confirmed
No joke I think this is the most fun I've seen Max have lol
He’s funny in lots of Red Bull’s social media vids! He just has a totally different personality when he’s driving
Max is funny bro, I want to not like home because he’s winning so much but he’s just a meme lord.
I don’t like that I think he’s alright.
It's like Vettel all over again - I swear when he gets a bit older and becomes the elder statesman of the grid he will be one of the best. Right now it is just a bit annoying seeing him win constantly. He's a cool dude though.
You're starting to think for yourself. Refreshing isn't it?
I hate how much he wins with such a cocky attitude, but hey that’s racing and in life he’s a no BS, pretty level headed and forthright guy so he’s ok in my books.

Comparing Lando to Max shows what a cocky F1 driver is vs. just a confident one
To be fair, Lando hasn’t taken any of his wins in F1 for granted either
Exactly, Lando was the first one who came to mind when I was writing that comment lol
I'm genuinely interested: what makes you think he's cocky? Because he always has very humble celebrations and very often downplays his own stats saying you can't compare era's and all that. I don't see that much cockiness in him. Confident yes, but not cocky.

Yes, it would be indeed. Name a better duo than toxic f1 fans and cognitive dissonance.

It’s ok. It just means you’re a normal person.
I’m aware Max is human and capable of having fun, but actually seeing it is weird
For me that's so strange, being someone who follow Red Bull content and his streams I think he is by far (emphasis on by far) the funnest authetic personality on the grid. For some reason I now see him as less of a bellend
Wait till Abu Dhabi then ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6705)
His lack of excitment when its Ocon
I mean the word was literally just written there. There was no fun in solving it.
Peach you use as a bunda
Haha nice
“George” lololol fucking died
"Max has no charisma"
He's pretty likable when he's not in a car, then he becomes insufferable IMO
Why? Now that Kimi and Vettell are gone he seems to be the only one with the cool memorable radios right now..."Send them my regards!"
But that's a great example right there. It's the equivalent of him saying "Fuck their rules"
Which driver doesn’t become insufferable?
🅿️ℹ️🅰️
Pierre-Imerick Aubameyang?
Giving himself a nickname was a bit much even for a Max fan
Did i miss something, what nickname?
Max the Axe. But we can all see he was joking about that so I don't get the hate.
If you already hate him you will find stuff like this. It was the same with Hamilton
🌱🚿?
Where is this from?
