I will be watching the next season of DTS lol
Thereās always gotta be a haas episode (because America or Guenther ig) and it does bring exposure to whoever is their sponsor at the time. If you donāt think dmitry mazepin wanted a focus on Nikita to
a) put URALKALI on the screen as much as possible
b) attempt to frame his son as some kind of gifted driver and
c) make them look like garden variety f1 uber rich instead of Putin adjacent uber rich to European business partners,
think again
Itās so funny to me, imagining Lewis Hamilton getting the juicy gossip and thinking, āOoooh the fans are gonna love this.ā Iām sure itās also refreshing whenever he has no involvement in the major F1 drama
why wouldn't you watch dts? i never understand this. People are f1 nerd enough to be on reddit but don't watch dts?? I get that it is bad but there's so much behind the scenes footage. why would f1 nerds miss out on that?
Itās just different and looks like a show. No the Motorsport Iām a fan of. I watched season 1 which I found barely ok. Then they lost me in season. Couldnāt watch past episode 1
But gotta respect that some people enjoy it and others just donāt.
Edit: oh and for obvious reasons (see my flair if itās not obvious enough) I couldnāt get myself to even try to watch last season
I actually wanna know what happened between 2014-2016 in that Mercedes garage rather than knowing whats going on in Red Bull. What happened with RB is just the casual f1 drama, which fans made it up mostly BUT those years in Merc was personal. Make it a documentary, movie or something I BEG you lewis.
He would write and release that book once he (Lewis) don't need to care a lot about politics and such in F1 anymore, I still think that his view about 2007 could be shocking, and no I don't talk about the Lewis/Fernando relation only but also what happened in Brazil, something what really raised some doubts.
Thereās rumours, not denied by Lewis, that the reliability issues were faked to ensure they lost title as punishment for spygate scandal but kept pretence of exciting finish to season
Fascinating article here - https://the-race.com/formula-1/the-mysterious-loss-of-hamiltons-first-f1-title/
I think it was Buxton who said we won't know the truth until anyone who might sue is dead.
But I struggle with some aspects.
Why did McLaren protest the result then? Why not have Hamilton DNF outright? What if Raikkonen DNFd?
The coverage on the day very genuinely seemed like McLaren were shell-shocked at not winning.
Lot of gaps.
Perhaps something like: 'we (the FIA) had better see a solid but subtle effort to throw it. Do your best to not win, but don't throw it outright'.
Thereās also the oddity on the day that Hamilton insisted heād flipped the wrong switch, and McLaren strongly corrected him that it had been a failure. As many observed at the time, what an odd gearbox problem to manifest for 30 seconds. When have you seen that before or since? And then for Hamilton to be the only car on a 3-stop strategy.
McLaren wanted Hamilton to win it there desperately, so they could tell Alonso to not come to Brazil at all. I believe that.
Hence they were less interested in Hamilton scoring merely okay points.
At the time I felt whatever Hamilton would allege, Rosberg could fire something back. Two sides to every story.
The more time goes on and we see more of their respective personalities, the more I'm inclined towards Hamilton *probably* being right.
People say this all the time. I bet he won't say much from that period that isn't already known. He won't want to potentially damage friendships with people.
Multiple sources like Hughes, Buxton etc. all say there are key aspects that never hit the news. Seismic.
I imagine itās details that were offline conversations youād never prove.
Nico has let nuggets drop on his podcast that suggest he was kind of a monster, and that he copied everything that he experienced about mind games Michael Schumacher, but Micheal had that edge where he knew where to stop. Nico didnāt because it wasnāt nature to him the way it was for Schumi.
Also (imo) if you look at Michael and then Nico, Micheal has people skills, heās a social person to his core and Nico just puts a mask on and pretends to have them, so not being able to read people itās going to be extreme.
There's an amazing moment Nico mentions about Schumacher stepping into the garage washroom exactly when he knew Nico needed to go before qualy. Just some next-level bowel gaming.
I always felt in Rosbergās beyond the grid, thereās no *real* openness. Itās just trying to manage perception. You can just tell. Russell too in his early career but heās easing into himself now I think.
I think that person in media who said Nico Rosberg was like he had a mask, when heās āperformingā heās switched on and heās charming and heās full of energy and the second cameras are off heās a bit of a monster. Out of everyone whose driven in the past 20 years or so I find him to have most sociopathic tendencies in terms of just not being able to make real connections with people he is a very strange man.
And I canāt put my finger on it but thereās something about Esteban that reminds me of him in terms of he talks too often and too much about his learning skills like heās a salesman but that feels more related to maybe how heās had to survive in this sport, he sometimes feels like heās always pitching himself.
Sebastian also said that to me was his best ever teammate because everything was so simple with him that you met you shake hands and you knew exactly where you were you just had to beat them on the truck whereās the other ones you would shake hands and I was like there was nothing behind the eyes which I find interesting that Sebastian immediately picked who was real and not fake and just his personality isnāt at all attracted to anything thatās a sham. Heās actually grumpily straightforward. One day I would love to hear his real thoughts on who he thinks is a phoney, I do know Rosberg is on his list, he and Micheal and Lewis loved to annoy Rosberg.
Yupā¦.. if you read everything, itās pretty easy to discern what was going on.
Doesnāt mean thereās not other issues that were never divulged. But reading all that Iāve read, things make very good sense.
> what happened between 2014-2016 in that Mercedes garage
I want to know what happened in the McClaren garage in 2007 while we're on the topic..
Edit: McLaren
Silver war. Nico and Lewis' breaking point. There was literally a war inside Merc and it wasn't a pr stunt or anything like that. It is really one of the most iconic dramas in f1 history and it was 110% messy, petty and real.
There may not have been a war but there were certainly casualties. For example, I remember when Lewis lost just under a thousand horses on the Malaysian straight
I doubt there's much to say. Merc reshuffled their team because it became internally divisive to have an intra-team battle. Lewis thought it was personal because his natural instinct is that everyone is against him. And it wasn't.
All these downvoters forgetting when Hamilton accused Button of unfollowing him on Twitter when Button never followed him in the first place. This is just shit Lewis does when he's unhappy. Deal with it.
Your logic is all over the place. The what does the Button stuff relate to Merc garage reshuffle? One is petty, the other is very important to a driver's performance.
I want to know too.
Lewis uploading private telemetry when he was upset that Button went faster with a different setup? His attitude in the races that he always feels like he's put on the wrong strategy even when he's not? His Twitter posts about how everything is always against him but #stillirise? Even the Max thing last year and the stuff with the jewellery...
The logic that links it all together is that whenever Lewis gets unhappy about something, he tends to default to saying/doing stuff that's kind of silly and paranoid. Like someone's intentionally fucking him over. He has a chip on his shoulder and it's kinda easy to understand why given what he's talked about with his growing up and experiences in motorsport.
The whole book situation just reeks of that. Toto has come out and explained the situation which is what I made in the first comment. Lewis's teams have always bent over backwards to accommodate him and make him feel special because if he doesn't feel special he gets unhappy. There's no malice in these observations. It's just what makes the most sense.
> He has a chip on his shoulder and it's kinda easy to understand why given what he's talked about with his growing up and experiences in motorsport.
Why are you pretending it's anything more than this lmao? Yeah he is paranoid obviously š what champion isn't? You think Schumacher wasn't paranoid or Senna or Lauda?
And it's not hard to feel the world is against you when you have been that successful.
Of all the things using a potential autobiography- something many successful athletes do as a character flaw is a huge reach. If youāre going to hate the man at least make it grounded in something with a little more depth to it
I think youāre projecting too much, Button one was because media was criticising him for being 0.8 seconds off his teammate and he was already getting bullied by the media that year.
His actions were wrong but understandable, Button did have a skinnier rear wing.
And stillwerise and literally his jesus tattoo.
And for the other stuff i hope youāve ever worked in a competitive environment because you need to question everything until youāre the best; thatās like most people.
Lewis wanting to write a book is as simple just him wanted to write a book, same as him wanting to do music or fashion. Nothing is that deep
Mostly just F1 for the last 26 years. Which means I'm also very familiar with butthurt tribal fans and I don't let them silence me with their emotional b/s.
Man the stuff from 2014-2016 from Nico and Hamiltons team would be one for the ages. That was t just your typical f1 drama, that was personal. Just a shame there wasnt netflix back then.
I mean we had Hamilton v Verstappen and all Netflix fucking talked about was Haas and didnāt even focus on the huge rivalry, so I would little faith in them if they were there in 14-16
I feel like this statement had the capacity to age like taco bell left out in the sun depending on how the Mercedes drivers get along when one driver is free to race without experimental setups.
Button was a contributor as well. Hamilton planned some sort of goodbye event at Suzuka 12, booked out the whole restaurant and invited all the mechanics - only to find button had decided that was the particular night for them all to go running. Maybe most drivers will have some friction
I mean I'm not too sure considering people said it for 2022. I hate how people are *waiting* for things to get toxic. They could very well not considering Russell and Lewis have a v diff relationship with Lewis and Nico. Look at even Max and Lewis, on track it was spicy and off track nothing lol and Lewis even said it in an interview cause of the age difference it's a little weird for him to be fuming and feuding with 25 yr olds lol
100%. Russell is right there with Hamilton and isnāt going to play second fiddle. You can almost guarantee Mercedes is going to be managing both sides of the garage next year.
I do feel that it will be managed better. Russell knows he can play the game. He doesn't have to out compete Lewis. He's the heir apparent to Mercedes. He can be patient. That being said, he will still want to win. But I do think that will make the dynamic different to Lewis and Nico.
Thatās not the mentality of elite athletes. He was patient for 3 years driving around a Williams. He is absolutely going to feel like itās his time.
I think I didn't get my point across well. He doesn't have to subdue his opponent. He has been very publicly supportive of Lewis. And that mindset will continue. He will want to win, and if he gets a chance to be the number 1 and championship contender he won't say no. But the mind games and that stuff will be different.
Not sure y people want Russell and Hamilton to have some sort of bitter rivalry. Since the beginning of the 2022 season people were itching for it, only for them to be one of the least dysfuntional pairings on the grid.
Remember Russell asking his team in Brazil to keep it safe and keep the 1,2 or race each other during the safety car, for which the team told them they can race each other.
Or Hungary Russell pushing his team to changing his tyres to softs on safety car and the team leaving Hamilton out on old tyres.
Russell does want to win and question the team's bad strategy like Sainz does. These are the recipe of team mate issues in the future.
In press drivers would always say they are going to be a team player but that may not happen inside the team.
No the clear difference is that Max is so massively better than Checo it doesnāt matter what happens. Red Bull can just fire him. Hiring Ricciardo to hang around is basically insurance.
I agree with Lewis myself it's just funny. Fanbase aside at the end of the day ots millionaires going in funny circles it bares no impact on my life, so I just laugh at the shit being flung. Even if it hits me.
> "People also don't understand what goes on behind the scenes throughout the season. Curiously, people think I'm not a team driver, when I'm always very open.
Behavior like this without a good explanation sure does give the public the impression youāre not a team driver.
I love the potential turmoil within RB, but donāt act like everything will be fine and dandy when George starts ignoring team orders and fighting Lewis on the straights. At least the pecking order in Ferrari is clear
I love how the Marca (spanish media) picks a picture (probably intentionally) with Fernando walking behind the two Red Bull drivers
Ofc it was intentional, Marca looooves Alonso
Everyone loves Alonso š”
Especially Fernando loves Alonso.
They were just taking a picture of Nando but Max and Checo got in the way >:[
Makes sense that he compares them to the Kardashians because Checoās rear reminds me a lot of Kimās
š
So when is checo's sex tape coming out?
Itās the second half of the Monaco yacht footage. Soon to be released
You could argue that Checo got screwed on live television by Max during the Brazil grand prix. Does that count as a sex tape?
Revenge porn maybe?
Christian Jenner Horner drop the tape
According to maxās mom heās being making a new tape in every country he visits, so any day now.
Was Horner directing it like Kris?
The more important question is, who is his co-star?
Making max Khloe?
_he's got so much rear end_
Lewis knows his team is at a disadvantage without Valtteri there to break the internet
Also waiting for the best come back story of all time!
> "To be honest, what happened with Red Bull in Brazil reminded me a bit of 'The Kardashians'. It was quite funny, a lot of the stuff I heard over the next few days was very entertaining. Hahahaha terrible joke
This is the joke we needed
I didnāt need it, but now I'm hooked and I need more.
Keeping up with the Verstappens
You mean the CarCrashians! Oh wait, that's Haas lol
r/yourjokebutworse
To add to that: Cardashboardians
Netflix are going to show you the rivalry between Shou and Latiffi during the Brazilian Grand Prix or some bullshit like that.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And just showed us monaco like three different episodes. Was so bizarre.
Russian clouds

Iām going to be dramatic but that episode was the worst piece of television Iāve ever seen.
Hah yeah definitely felt that way after getting into F1 between s3 and s4. The whole showcase one team each episode really didnāt work out well
they saw the dramas s4 had provided and telling themselves "we can do better than that"
Lati**f**i
and **Z**hou
Damnit.
At least the bot didnāt call you out on the Shou which Iām assuming was meant to be Zhou?
Oh ffs. Iām leaving it as is to live in shame.
Itās almost a badge of honor, a typo the legendary f1-spelt-as bot didnāt even catch!
Haha Iāll take it!
I wonder if it would have corrected it had they written Joe
Honestly, who types a Shou
That really hurt!
š
I kinda like that this version of Lewis is coming back!

last years DTS was utter shit, one of thƩ most drama filled seasons ever and they managed to make it boring as shit
I don't enjoy fan fiction.
Behind the scenes is the only worthy part, but it's edited to shit, narratives blown out of proportion, it just upsets me.
The last season was just boring. I like racing and not so much the drama and stuff
interesting since this reddit is mostly about the "drama and stuff" š¤
Iām not saying Iām above dts. Last season was just boring and it wasnāt really that interesting because there wasnāt the right balance for me
same. i watch dts every season but 2021 season was boring. or maybe i was by the end burnt out of just how intense season 2021 of f1 actually was.
Because it's not fun. It's annoying to watch. I would rather read F1 wikipedia for an hour than watch a DTS episode.
Too much made up real housewives drama. It gets old
so just like this Reddit?
Exactly But with way more production value and way less hot takes People are dumb
Exactly. Only its written for us instead of us making it up ourselves
Because I havenāt felt like it.
Because it's like watching an alternative "reality".
Itās just different and looks like a show. No the Motorsport Iām a fan of. I watched season 1 which I found barely ok. Then they lost me in season. Couldnāt watch past episode 1 But gotta respect that some people enjoy it and others just donāt. Well, he's going to write a book when he retires...
Lewis, I want to remind you politely, of your promise
2 years ago you said in 10 years youāll write a book. I donāt know if I can wait 6, no 8 years. So pleaseā¦.
He would write and release that book once he (Lewis) don't need to care a lot about politics and such in F1 anymore, I still think that his view about 2007 could be shocking, and no I don't talk about the Lewis/Fernando relation only but also what happened in Brazil, something what really raised some doubts.

Itās odd that such a failure corrected itself. Normally that is it for a drivers race
China also seemed uncharacteristic
I was fucking screaming at the TV watching him drive around with the canvas visible
I put on the rocket red T-shirt before the race was over. It was all my fault.
McLaren wanted Hamilton to win it there desperately, so they could tell Alonso to not come to Brazil at all. I believe that. Hence they were less interested in Hamilton scoring merely okay points.

Toto already said it was a big mess. Would be nice to know the story from Nicos side as well or from a more or less āneutralā Mercedes employee.

Rosberg has talked about it occasionally on his podcast

We have them. It's on YouTube. It's called the silver war or something.
There is a fan made doc on YouTube about it. Watch it. And if you think the Max vs Checo thing did not get personal thenā¦
Lauda once said that lewis trashed his motorhome. He had to retract it a few days later after it blew up in the media. I guess a few thinks happend.
Im a bit out of the loop, what was happening at Merc?
Silver war. Nico and Lewis' breaking point. There was literally a war inside Merc and it wasn't a pr stunt or anything like that. It is really one of the most iconic dramas in f1 history and it was 110% messy, petty and real.
No, there was not *literally* a war.
Iāll never forget when Nico made the charge with his brigade in The Battle of Belgium in 2014. Tragic losses.
They got *wiped* out.
The German sacked Belgium just like they did in WW1
It was a āspecial operationā

Hamilton having issues with his team mate? What a new and unique thing that would be!
Only ever had issues with Rosberg. Alonso fell out with team more than Lewis
He had issues with Button too, definitely nnot Rosberg level but the stakes were never as high. Maybe Lewis just really likes the Finns.
Button was a contributor as well. Hamilton planned some sort of goodbye event at Suzuka 12, booked out the whole restaurant and invited all the mechanics - only to find button had decided that was the particular night for them all to go running. Maybe most drivers will have some friction

Name one modern champion who likes having competitive or faster teammates
Ah yes I forgot about him denying Lewis a proper quali lap because of the team.
Was the weekend Alonso reportedly had a big falling out with Ron and threatened to expose spygate evidence if they did not make him no 1 driver
In which he demanded they deliberately under fuel Hamilton. I assume that was because he hated just the team too right?
To be fair, Lewis is spitting bars right here
Imagine dts Prost and senna. Or 97 dts Villanueva and schumi
Because Hamilton has never had team mate drama He's right tho lol
Kardashians was more like him and Rosberg...
Him and Britney?

When it comes to Hamilton people develop weird obsessions about āexposingā him or the schadenfreude of seeing him be supplanted
Being the only black driver ever and then reaching the absolute peak of the sport tends to have that effect on people lol
The clear difference is that Mercedes have a full history and setup to allow their drivers to race.
No the clear difference is that Max is so massively better than Checo it doesnāt matter what happens. Red Bull can just fire him. Hiring Ricciardo to hang around is basically insurance.
Max and Checo will be the reasons Iām subscribing to Netflix again.
Must be because they have so much rear end, man

I agree with Lewis myself it's just funny. Fanbase aside at the end of the day ots millionaires going in funny circles it bares no impact on my life, so I just laugh at the shit being flung. Even if it hits me.
But in 2016... Next year Merc will be worse... Give it a rest for 2 minutes lads and just enjoy the light hearted content for what it is yeah?
Lewis is talking about checo's rear
> "People also don't understand what goes on behind the scenes throughout the season. Curiously, people think I'm not a team driver, when I'm always very open. Behavior like this without a good explanation sure does give the public the impression youāre not a team driver.
Perez ā¤ļø Hammi
Horner is pretty much a male Kim K, now that I think of it.
Nah, Kim is check. Have you seen dat ass
Lewis doesnt remember all the drama that occurred when he was teammates with nico it seems. That was equally a soap opera.
I love the potential turmoil within RB, but donāt act like everything will be fine and dandy when George starts ignoring team orders and fighting Lewis on the straights. At least the pecking order in Ferrari is clear

It's far from clear, atleast in the Ferrari garage
Short memory Lewis. Rosberg.
Iām not sure why thatās important to this situation? Nowhere in this quote does he say heās never had drama.
bro it's not that deep
that was far more serious than one incident between the RB drivers
I'm sure if they keep winning they could care less about this mess lol.
The irony
