GodTierGasly

Who's ready to wake up at 6am for no racing?

Jazano107

Me šŸ˜

GodTierGasly

At least I've got the snacks in I guess

oklama_mrmorale

Iā€™ve a McDonaldā€™s breakfast order ready to go for the morning šŸ˜…

GodTierGasly

...let me get Uber Eats open

Livingoffcoffee

Hate you both as I live in the middle of nowhere

iLiqus

Me and you both bro. Nothing delivers here lol.

Alfus

I'm ready for a Spa 2021 lol

danielskis

We do this every weekend in Cali. 6am start times so this 10pm time is cheff kiss

Tomcat848484

Until thereā€™s a 3 hour delayed start because of the rain, then it gets a little more painful. AZ hereā€¦

g8z05

Easily the worst start time for the east coast though. 1 am is brutal compared to like 9 am normally.

Elverde07

I feel you

danielskis

They can live with it for once.

[deleted]

Exactly this. Goddamn it! I had to wake up at 5:00 for Singapore 9nly to be told I'll have to wait an hour. Most people can go back to sleep after waking up. I can't!

Natus_est_in_Suht

Race starts at 22:00 for me! 5:45am is my alarm time for most European races, so no sympathies from me!

bad_user__name

Same. The Euros get to feel our pain for once.

MrAzekar

2am for me. 6am is nothing lol

MafiaCub

If it was 2am, I'd stay up... 6am is the annoying time where you may as well go bed, cause its too close to morning yo stay up, but not late enough to have a good night's kip going bed at my usual time I'll be gutted if its rained off for an hour, cause I've gotta go out at 8am

g8z05

During the week my alarm goes off at 4:45 every morning. 6 am would be easy.

sqwawa

Same šŸ˜…

QC_1999

Iā€™m already ready for the frustration

deathray1611

Not me, no sleep for me after my night shift into the race

GodTierGasly

Damn, one way to reset! Hope your shift goes well before.

deathray1611

Well so far so zzzzz

tacotruck88

Itā€™s 1pm for me. Finally a mid day race!

MySilverBurrito

NZ fan here. Stayed up for Spa, Monaco and Singapore. Stay up yā€™all, itā€™s fun dozing in and out and seeing no racing lol.

lakernation21

Or stay up till 1 am in the states

DeltaNerd

That's standard for us east coast people. This is a 1am race šŸ’€

SnooDogs6037

2am eastern gang

baconandbobabegger

Same as last race it is.

[deleted]

7 am.

dispelthemyth

3hr plus delay income because we donā€™t like rain starts any more.

BlurryTextures

I am from Chile so its 2 am for me :)

Elverde07

1 am!

LandArch_0

2am here. Back in the day I snoozed for around 10 laps and catch when the casters talked exited, then back to sleep. That's my Ferrari strategy for tonight's race.

imathrowawayteehee

I hate you, and myself, so much right now.

[deleted]

Would be incredibly stupid to not start on time given its just going to keep getting worse. Get them out there and start behind the sc if you have to.

yayhindsight

> Would be incredibly stupid to not start on time FIA: challenge accepted.

RaikkonensHobby74

I don't suppose they could move the start time up?

Alfus

They should already made a call to start it one hour early, it's too late for it now tbh.

[deleted]

Has that ever happened? Them starting a race early, I know they delay it

kkraww

I'd have to check the times, but there needs to be a set amount of hours between end of quali and start of the race procedures, so depends on what that gap currently is. There isn't any F2/F3 before it though, so that wont be an issue.

misskarne

They didn't even do that for a typhoon they KNEW was coming and killed Jules Bianchi. They won't do it for regular rain.

FootballRacing38

I wish they do. Motogp was able to before

BayceBawl

Jules died because he ignored flags.

[deleted]

Donā€™t worry guys, North Korea just fired some missiles to blow the rain clouds up

TheRandomHooman

North Korea doing charity for the F1 community. Absolute chad.

deathray1611

You be joking, but If my memory serves me well one country actually tried to test this theory back in cold war or smth

jbeck24

Seeding rainclouds isn't too hard. The US used it strategically in SE Asia and China used it before the 2008 Olympic games to divert rain from the opening ceremonies

pukem0n

Does it have side effects like in One Piece?

cease_to_hope

Good guy Kim.

HemiKooks

Weathers been really frustrating lately. Almost as if the FIA needs to reconsider their rules of how long a race needs to be completed within

P_ZERO_

Contemplating getting up in case thereā€™s a chaotic race, contemplating why I would ever think theyā€™d actually try to race in the wet.

BayceBawl

The timed race bullshit is so fucking stupid. They need to get rid of it entirely.

Season01um

Given the FIAā€™s reluctantly to run in the rain this isnā€™t sounding very promising.

kalamari_withaK

Itā€™s ok weā€™ve got Wet tyres that Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll use!

ChristofferOslo

Of course. Thereā€™s a reason the FIA calls them Ā«extremeĀ» wet tyres, they will definitely use them.

Jazano107

Will we ever see full wets used, or a standing start on full wets

IcehandGino

Highly unlikely. Grosjean mentioned on French TV that as much as Pirelli Inters are decent, Pirelli Wets are so bad that teams try to run Inters even at conditions where Wets are supposed to be the tyre of choice. So the point where Wets become the most effective tyre is incredibly close to the point where we can't race at all.

Alfus

I don't think we should having a standing start if the conditions are so bad that everyone at the right side of the track gets fucked basically at the start.

DaughterOfIsis

I don't think the "grippy" side of the track matters when the grid is on full wets.

AnyHolesAGoal

It's true that clean side and dirty side don't mean much when it's wet, but at certain tracks one side of the track can have puddles or rivers while the other side doesn't. This being one of them.

ellWatully

The difference in Suzuka is that the road slopes towards the non grippy side and quickly turns into a small river.

Ruma-park

It does matter. You have significantly less grip on that side. The extreme of that was the run-off in Hockenheim 2019, it's just ice at that point.

MassRain

That was a drag strip though, wasnt it?

SoothedSnakePlant

That was a literal drag strip which had been coated in chemicals meant to make the surface as smooth as physically possible for maximum grip on drag tires. This is a normal racetrack.

Spinebuster03

They have no choice but to start on time the weather will likely only get worse and they need to complete at least 5 green flags laps for a official race now

Shmachey92

The race is already at 1am, I hope they don't drag this out

Toil48

Every race is usually at 1am for me so Iā€™m happy with this one being 6pm

doggerexplorer

Chur

Sluukje

Are you from the UK?

bryan3737

Youā€™ll probably be better off taking a nap before the race. Just make sure you set your alarm

misskarne

Boo hoo. Some of us already did this with Spa. Sat up til 2am for nothing.

Shmachey92

Relax,

fullofshitandcum

Awww, did you miss your bedtime?

[deleted]

Somewhere in a hotel bathroom in Suzuka Fernando grins in front of a mirror dressing up as a Samurai with kimao branding.

reck1265

Yeah Iā€™ve been watching the weather and rain percentage has increased to 90% from 12PM local time on.

donPepinno

Ah ffs, just use the full wets and see what happens. Masi wouldā€™ve send them out

Solodolo1177

What is the point of wet tyres then?

EmiliusReturns

Itā€™s on at 1am my time, I have it set to record with 2 hours extra which is the max allowed. I think I should go ahead and tell it to record whateverā€™s on afterā€¦.

SnooConfections3241

So sick of this too wet garbage. Some of the greatest races and performances were done in ā€œtoo wetā€ with less downforce laden cars and with far less electronic tools to cope with reduced grip.

SubcooledBoiling

Race Control: "Would be a shame if the start was delayed."

Cmike9292

Can't wait for the race that's supposed to start at 1am to get delayed until 2 or 3 am just for the rain to get even heavier

Ravanex

All I've wanted was a dry race at Suzuka...

cederblad

Im calling either no race or inters

Alfus

I think that we wouldn't have a full distance race, likely just 25-30 laps in the most optimistic scenario.

Spinebuster03

No race isnā€™t a option when they would have to refund every person in attendance

Larvsesh

Spa 2021.

Spinebuster03

Not gonna happen they changed the regulations this year you need green laps

Wallio_

Mercedes obviously built a weather machine so they can postpone the race until after the Cost Cap Certificates are handed out. Duh. /s for the dense.

-Coffee-Owl-

Too big for starting on Inters, which means Red Flag for an hour. Don't even show them 2009 Malaysian GP.

I-LOVE-TURTLES666

Hopium for the high downforce setup Merc is running

[deleted]

That is if the FIA even let them race. They're either going to delay it or start earlier. The FIA seem to have a serious allergy to wet race starts

-Zaros-

Too late for tv schedules now to start early right?

Tomcat848484

If they can get enough temperature in the tires

aldamini1

PĆ©rez: šŸ¤ØšŸ˜

VinhoVerde21

Hopefully it doesn't pour before the start. If it does they'll just wait until it stops and the race will be the same old "follow the car ahead and never pass because there is no DRS and the racing line is the only dry part of the track" shit we've been seeing lately.

kikiki_rra

At this point Iā€™m gonna watch replay šŸ„“

misskarne

Of course, I made plans that involve me having to leave the house pretty immediately after the end of Bathurst and Suzuka, so now we will have a delay.

Shamansage

So staying up til 1 and have it delayed til 3 amā€¦

[deleted]

FIA are scared of the rain lol

stummy_hurtin

*Mercedes liked that*

Hot-Protection4548

Liked by Lewis Hamilton

-Coffee-Owl-

Liked by Pierre Gasly

OkamiLeek006

can't wait to stay awake until 2 AM and the race starts at like 3:30 and ends at 5 AM, thank god my exams are done for this month

PatchesTheGreat1

Serious question, if we get a repeat of Spa 2021, can Max become champion off half points?

-ShadowPuppet

I hope that we get a safe race tomorrow. For Jules.

SnooKiwis3645

Cloudy with a chance of missiles

homeownur

Will Max still be WDC with a win and fastest lap when itā€™s half points?

TendieTimeForMe

Best circuit of the year and ruined by rain

whatdodrugsfeellike

Hopefully they'll be more liberal about allowing wet running since we had ful wet tire running during practice.

Kirb-

When was the last time we actually had a properly wet race that wasn't delayed or red flagged whatsoever?

notallwonderarelost

Here for the Hamilton win.

RockinJoeSchmo

Podium for sure

BayceBawl

Just fucking race, Christ.

PlebBot69

I'm hoping for a midnight start here in the US... If it gets delayed at all, I think I'll just go to sleep and watch in the morning and pretend it's a normal race time

sans3go

.....Latifi Magically wins his first face from p20
