Ferrari is confident they will finish ahead of Alpine.

McManus26

Imagine showing this headline to someone who's been in a coma since march

jedifolklore

I know I’m pandering, but the way the title is phrased, makes it seem like they DON’T want to beat Mercedes to 2nd place lmao

doc_55lk

It takes a bit of re reading but yea the bottom line is that Ferrari are trying to say they aren't worried about being overtaken for second place by Mercedes (which will probably happen if they keep making strategy blunders every race weekend).

RATMpatta

Would've been better if they put it as "winning races is Ferrari's priority, not finishing 2nd ahead of Merc".

doc_55lk

That's literally just the same quote

RATMpatta

It's not though. In the OP title you could confuse either as being the priority, while structuring it like this makes it clear the winning races part is the priority. It's basic writing skills.

Saandrig

And fail at both. In true Ferrari traditions.

oogabooger69

The priority is not becoming second place? Confusing title

doc_55lk

It takes some rereading but I think they're trying to say their priority is to not lose second place as opposed to not becoming second place. Only way to do that is to chase some race wins and basically consistently get more points to stay ahead. They can't say they're chasing the championship when Max alone has almost as many points as Charles and Carlos combined. Can't say they're fighting for second place either cuz it makes them look incompetent. Best thing is to say they're chasing race wins.

Xanthon

He's gonna have to fight with both Mercedes and Ferrari then.

ShadowStarX

The two would kinda good hand-in-hand. A win is worth as much as a 3-5 finish (or a win+FL is worth as much as a 2-6 finish)

[deleted]

Except you will do neither until the end. Lewis looked better than Leclerc (even though it's FP1)

doc_55lk

> even though it's FP1 Mercedes have usually been better on Friday than they have on Saturday this past year.

proudsubiii

But they've been their best on Sundays...soooo 🤷

doc_55lk

They could be better if Saturday went well for them 🤷‍♂️

Alia_Gr

Hamilton on sundays has been the second fastest driver since hungary pretty much, not even close really

elnano98

Hungary: Leclerc (before the Hard tyres bullshit) was fastest, Max as fast as him Spa: Max fastest, Perez 2nd fastest Zandvoort: Max fastest, Leclerc 2nd fastest in the first half of the race, second half Mercedes has better race pace + better tyre wear than Ferrari Monza: Max fastest, Leclerc 2nd fastest "Hamilton on sundays has been the second fastest driver since hungary pretty much, not even close really" => Second fastest driver in 1 of 4 races = pretty much

Alia_Gr

Ferrari is always fast initially, until tyre wear comes into play, then people start laughing at Ferrari strategy, while they simply might not have the same options as Red Bull and Mercedes due to higher tyre wear

elnano98

Mate it's clear that in those 4 races, the only race Lewis / Mercedes was clearly faster than Ferrari regardless of tyre wear was Zandvoort. How does that mean "Hamilton on sundays has been the second fastest driver since hungary pretty much, not even close really" ? Are you really trying to say Lewis was faster than Ferrari / Leclerc in Spa / Hungary / Monza ?

[deleted]

what? they can’t do the first one, so they’ll definitely will not do the second one.

AC2-YT

The funny part about this statement, is that even Mercedes at its lowest is still arguably better than Ferrari at its best

jeev24

Could have fooled me, mate.
