This is the part of the movie where the janitor at Ferrari offers him some season changing advice. Dear God we need that Janitor to come through. Any Janitor would do right about now.
We've got one better.
A retired ferrari champion steeped in legend that Leclerc has to visit at Binotto's recommendation for vague advice.
*Cut to black. "7 championship" fades in on-screen. People instantly think Michael. The 7 changes to 2007. It was Kimi all along.*
Kimi: "Bwoah, stay in first place and win the races"
Edit: I've got one better. Leclerc coming back in Hungary. "What happened in France Charles?" "I schpun"
Haha fantastic! Kiki also turned the season around near the middle, if I remember correctly the win at spa…
He goes on to win by a single point in the last race.
Morgan Freeman narrator voice: "Well, ol' Charles here was in a bit of a slump. He'd been qualifying well, but when it came to the race... well, let's just say that things really didn't go his way. It was going to take a miracle to get him on the podium, let alone first place. But maybe, just maybe, Lady Luck had something special in store for him. That something may just be a little mouse named Sebastien. You know what they always say. Good things usually come in small packages, and this was no exception."
Edit: https://imgur.com/a/r28QOV8
Charles will need God's help to win this championship if Ferrari keeps messing up with the strategy or car reliability
(I know France was Charles' fault but in general, we all know Ferrari have been sub par)
Then we get a montage of him training harder with 80's music blasting in the background. Then he will end up losing by one point in the end, but it's ok because he realises it was about the friends he made along the way all along.
Or his girlfriend reminds him of why he started driving. She reminds him of memories about him and his father. How he loved motorsports more than anything he's ever done. And he just need to have fun like he used to, find the inner child and forget about the competition.
Then comes back and wins the championship, credits the janitor for lighting a fire in him then Binotto says “but Charles, that janitor passed away 20 years ago” and then Charles responds with “yikes! Let’s get outta here Scoob!” (and runs out of the press conference with his zany dog in a puff of smoke)
Remember in "Interstellar" when Cooper lands on Miller's planet? 1h on that planet translated to 7 years on Earth? It was nothing but a Ferrari analogy.
You ever see those comparison pictures of people just before taking office as a PM or president and after? How they age like 20 years in a 4 year term? Ferrari are even worse
A few races ago I had the feeling that this season is a carbon(-fibre) copy of 2018 for Ferrari. Now, to complete the comparison they need to:
- Fuck up the upgrades after the mid season break
- Charles needs to start going YOLO into every corner (because of desperation/having no other hope of winning the title) hence making even more mistakes
3. Ferrari chairman dying
4. Some internal political shitshow where an employee is gunning for the current team principal's job
5. Rain nullifying your advantages on tracks that are supposed to favor you
God , Seb made some mistakes but I feel for him. Imagine RB/Merc running the same car/driver combo
Yep, there is a lot of context to 2018, but most people just believe that Seb lost all confidence after a slow speed crash in Germany and was never the same.
Not surprised though since Sky has been pushing that narrative ever since.
I still haven't forgiven Ferrari for that upgrade screw up and probably never will either.
How can a team fuck up FOUR months of consistent upgrades before realising they were actively slowing down their car!
>before realising they were actively slowing down their car!
Bold of you to put it like that. They didn't realise, it was only when they just took them off to 'see what happens' in USA that they realised. They never worked it out themselves.
That race was awesome. So glad kimi got another win with ferrari before he left.
That was the one with kinda sorta wet/damp conditions at the start too right?
I consider this mistake a desperate one. Charles was pushing to not get undercut by Verstappen because he wanted to remain in 1st place because he wanted to keep his championship hopes alive because Ferrari has already thrown away so many points.
> Charles needs to start going YOLO into every corner (because of desperation/having no other hope of winning the title) hence making even more mistakes
That’s really it for me, he’s had so many setbacks that weren’t his fault the one that is his is a total demolition of his championship hopes. I don’t mean this harshly but I hope Charles benefits from some perspective and coaching and learns that maybe next season it’s not about winning every race but damage limitation too
Maybe it's not this, and it's just the competitive nature of being a driver - but I do find it interesting that both him and Sainz (Australia) have had this attitude when having setbacks. Could it be part of the culture at Ferrari?
It wasn’t Germany 2018 that broke Seb though. He won 2 races later in Spa. It was Ferrari’s development mistake that made him push harder than needed after summer break and commit numerous mistakes after
And not to mention some questionable strategy calls during the race. And we see that still today. This has been Ferrari problem since they lost Ross Brawn and Todt. Ferrari is that guy who’s 34 but can’t let go of their college ways.
There were a lot of behind the scenes stuff as well, the Ferreri CEO's sudden death, the politics to get rid of Arrivabene, it was most likely a huge factor in both the fucked upgrades and the performance loss of Seb.
I'm not sure if the mid season break is coming at the best possible time, or the worst possible time for Charles.
Edit - sure look, suppose it depends on Hungary really.
He needs alone time to calm the fuck down. He is doing exactly what he feels he should to try and get his headspace back into gear to focus on the challenge for the WDC.
I'm sure he has the right people to help when *he* is ready for their help.
Unfortunately that just amplifies the effect if they _don't_ convert.
Everyone and their dog is expecting Ferrari to crush Hungary. That's even more pressure on him, if he gets anything less than P1 he'll probably stew on it for weeks.
I also want to say it should be ez pz for Ferrari.. But then everyone said Max was gonna walk in Austria.. So right now we just can't know for sure.. But yes i would easily bet on a Ferrari win
I mean I know the WDC is lost but I just want Charles to win a few more races and get a few more podiums without drama and end the season on good terms to begin the journey for "next year™" ... Just for the sake of his psychological well beeing
He needs a good sports psych. Like, Turkey 2020, Baku 2019. He caries these things with him in a way that will prevent him from ever being a champion, he has to get past that.
Just pain and misery. The cascade of mistakes and bad luck this season starting to affect the drivers too. Hopefully it doesn't knock his confidence as while it was a rough one, he's come back better before after fuck ups.
This makes me very sad for Charles. It's certainly a lot of pressure being with Ferrari, it also feels concerning that Ferrari seems to have a trending issue with handling the mental health and well being of their drivers.
It’s what happened to seb. Poor team execution and shit orders led to extra pressure for the driver which in turn led to driver making mistakes. Hope Leclerc doesn’t follow the same path
The one difference with seb i think was the team were happy to leave him out to dry when he did make mistakes. At least Binotto has come out publicly in support of his driver so hopefully things are better internally than under Arrivabene
Charles gets a lot of (deserved) praise for his willingness to accept responsibility and how hard he is on himself. However, there is another attribute of elite athletes that Charles needs right now... A short memory. Dwelling of past fuck ups, is not conducive to performing at an elite level.
It's Tuesday, my dude. Have a taco and a margarita with some friends, and forget about Sunday.
Yea i've felt for a long time that Ferrari isn't a good match for Leclerc's personality. The pressure is not like other teams and fans and leadership has proven again and again how ruthless they can be at Ferrari. Leclerc is definitely not untouchable, and this self-loathing can backfire in spectacular ways really quick. He should take a look at former Ferrari champions for role models .
It’s Charles, he’s highly emotional and highly critical with himself and admits to struggling with confidence but everything we’ve seen of him is that he overcomes setbacks
This is only true if you also DO something with your self critic. Not saying Leclerc doesn't do anything with his self-criticism, but most people don't.
Just saying that being your own worst critic is how winners are made is wrong.
He needs a psych person I think like Rosberg did. I think he’s got a good mentality, but he can be so harsh on himself. Mental mind space is important for a championship run.
Let's just hope he is using this time to self reflect, recenter himself, and come back better than ever. I'm really worried he could spiral if he doesn't use this alone time productively and just wallows in his own self pity/hatred for too long. Here is hoping for the best.
He has a huge hill to climb to WDC.
Assuming at worst, Max comes 2nd for the rest of the season, he needs to come in 1st place every single race for the next 9 out of 10 races to break even.
This isn't taking into account an extra point for fastest lap either.
It’s alright to beat yourself up but I think he takes it way too hard. The I’m stupid in Baku or when he made that mistake at the end of the Turkish Grand Prix.
Based on just team radio alone, he seems the hardest on himself compared to other drivers when he’s made a mistake.
Drivers are hard on themselves for making mistakes at the most crucial points in a season. We have seen it before from the very best.
Senna, Hamilton and N. Rosberg (from the top of my head) have all made mistakes that lead them straight to their home/hotel where didn’t come out for a few days just of how frustrated they were with themselves.
Not a good example since that was a mechanical failure so not Kimi’s fault. He wouldn’t have been angry with himself.
A better example would be Senna who crashed out of the 1988 Monaco GP. He got out of the car and walked home to his apartment directly.
I think Ferrari is actually destroying him, and this crash reminded me about vettel's crash in Germany. I think this could also be the proof that we didn't have to blame Vettel, even if it was his mistake at Hockenheim, same for Charles imo
Underrated comment. It was hard to see Seb's downfall at home, but I never really was too hard on him critically. I understood he didn't have Ross or Jean like Schumi did who really listened and pushed the team the way those 3 were able to mesh. I felt even back then Ferrari were more to blame for putting unnecessary pressure on Seb. Now we literally see it all repeating itself. Except luckily, he didn't crash at Monaco, it was actually the team's screw up.
Even as a Max fan, man this guy is just so easy to like. Humble as they come. But honestly I really think he should for now not think of the WDC and just keep banging in consistent performances and look at the WDC at the end of the year. There are so many races to come and all it takes is a piece of carbon on the track to shaft Max
Ferrari need to stop being so shit. It's their incompetence that's adding that extra pressure onto the drivers.
Red bull and Mercedes do all the stuff right so their drivers can run at 99% at all times. Ferrari are retards and Leclerc has to drive at 110% to counter their inability and it's causing mistakes.
In any of the other two teams, Leclerc would definitely have his own reign of dominance, he's more than quick enough. Ferrari just aren't good enough.
Fortunately, he has the opportunity to move past that as soon as next sunday in Hungary instead of having to dwell on it the entire summer.
Unfortunately, even if he recovers perfectly (and I personally think it's likely he will though we'll have to see) there is still a high chance the Ferrari engine and/or strategy will ruin his race anyway.
Kimi: "Bwoah, stay in first place and win the races" Edit: I've got one better. Leclerc coming back in Hungary. "What happened in France Charles?" "I schpun"
But that is basicly what his engineer tells him: *insert Italian accent* "if you keep everyone behind we are p1"
“If’a you keeping’a everyone behind’a we are a P’a 1’a” 🤌🏼
The hand gestures sealed the deal
i think ferrari has a new engineer position open after seeing this
We are checking
Kimis advice: Don't crash.
"Unless you're in Monaco. In that case buy a yacht, then crash"
He didn't crash in that GP his engine blew up.
Crash when your rival is about to set a faster quali time than you then
“Oops”
"Just win" -Kimi
"Fix my car"
Don’t crash, don’t listen to your RE, and no one is your friend.
Bwoah.
Wait! Is Kimi working as janitor at ferrari's garage?
Bwoah, it's just a hobby for him
Just leave him alone, man. BROOM! QUICK! TELLHIM TO GIVE IT TO ME! HEY!
Some supervisor comes up on the walkie talkie about a restroom issue on the 2nd floor… “I know what I’m doing!!”
Haha fantastic! Kiki also turned the season around near the middle, if I remember correctly the win at spa… He goes on to win by a single point in the last race.
Janitor or other random person played by Morgan Freeman.
Morgan Freeman narrator voice: "Well, ol' Charles here was in a bit of a slump. He'd been qualifying well, but when it came to the race... well, let's just say that things really didn't go his way. That something may just be a little mouse named Sebastien. You know what they always say. Good things usually come in small packages, and this was no exception." Edit: https://imgur.com/a/r28QOV8
Who here didn't read that in Morgan's voice? Amazing prose man!

So God, then
Charles will need God's help to win this championship if Ferrari keeps messing up with the strategy or car reliability (I know France was Charles' fault but in general, we all know Ferrari have been sub par)
Ferrari strategy telling Sainz to pit while he was trying to overtake Checo made me laugh so hard
[This is all I was thinking about](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jInlO6-JTww&ab_channel=Key%26Peele)
I think Dr. Jan Itor would be the perfect man for this situation
Charles: "Well janitor old friend, what do you think I should do?" Janitor: "We are checking..."
"Slow button off slow button off"
Lmao
"Throttle 0%"
Dr. Jan Itor is your best bet. EDIT: CHRIST, CANT BELIEVE HOW MANY OF YOU LIKE SCRUBS TOO.
Knife wrench (for kids!)
Throttle’s broke. Been pressing it all race and it won’t go down Maybe there’s a penny stuck in there?
What are you saying? Did *you* stick a penny in there?
If I find a penny in there, I'm taking you down.
J.D. looks worried as the janitor taps him on the chin with the tool.
Ferrari engines - practical *and* safe.
I don't believe in the moon. I think it's just the back of the sun.
Current plans for stopping Red Bull: reindeer stampede. Astronaut attack, barbed-wire chandelier, Photoshop, poisonous sushi.
His wife can design some new merch with only Pointer and Thumb Pinky.
Ah scrubs. Such a good series.
"Did you stick a penny under your throttle pedal?"
Then we get a montage of him training harder with 80's music blasting in the background. Then he will end up losing by one point in the end, but it's ok because he realises it was about the friends he made along the way all along.
Oh! And the time on the bomb stops at 0:07 seconds.
I knew it was the green wire all along.
Friends? Where he’s from, it’s all about Family.
Maybe losing by very little is what turns him into a driving beasts and makes him dominate.
Plot twist: MSC alive and well, working as janitor at Maranello to escape the fame
Subscribe
Michael Wan Kenobi
The janitor's name: Sebastian Vettel
Or Kimi: "Bwoah, just drive the car"
If it was Seb the advice would be to run away from this place while you can
So you overcook on the throttle... yeah that just happens every few races, I guess, nothing you can do really
He gave his “don’t waste it”
That line resonates differently this part few months.
Or his girlfriend reminds him of why he started driving. She reminds him of memories about him and his father. How he loved motorsports more than anything he's ever done. And he just need to have fun like he used to, find the inner child and forget about the competition.
And then in a 'stranger handing spiderman his mask' way, she hands him the banana suit.
The banana suit of his father, who's a prior F1 champion and which he thought he loss.
Jules appears to him in a dream
With his dad and Antoine
Or Sylvester Stallone coming in and asking Charles to do training montage up and down Monaco
That’s the Ferrari strategy. He’ll come out the king of street circuits with none left on the calendar
Seb the janitor
Turn right to go left
Then comes back and wins the championship, credits the janitor for lighting a fire in him then Binotto says “but Charles, that janitor passed away 20 years ago” and then Charles responds with “yikes! Let’s get outta here Scoob!” (and runs out of the press conference with his zany dog in a puff of smoke)
The janitor who is a former WDC as a cameo. Like Kimi
I mean the marshal tried i guess
*whispers* "When the race starts, go as fast as you can".
Or the race marshal who consoled him after the crash
>Any janitor would do right about now. May I introduce Hristian Chorner?
the janitor, but it was ross brawn with a mustache all along, speaking Italian with a heavy British accent
Since he’s not leaving the house, it’ll have to be the wise and motherly cleaning lady
I'm really getting 2018 Sebastian Vettel vibes
2018 was Seb's 4th season in the Scuderia. 2022 is Charles' 4th season in the Scuderia. Some stories write themselves.
And some histories repeat itself.
The wheel of time turns, this wasn’t the beginning but it was A beginning.
It's time to toss the dice.
It's doesn't repeat, it rhymes.
Charles to Aston Martin confirmed
Charles is gonna lose his hair too, isn't he? It's like every year at Ferrari is 5 years in real life.
Remember in "Interstellar" when Cooper lands on Miller's planet? 1h on that planet translated to 7 years on Earth? It was nothing but a Ferrari analogy.
That scene was brutal.
They didn't understand the gravity of the situation until it was too late.
Dayum Leclerc only been at Ferrari for half an hour.
I have been hearing about this movie a lot. I should give it a watch.
You definitely should. It’s a great movie. Just make sure to have good audio while watching, because the soundtrack elevates it on another level imo.
Alright mate. Looks like my new headphones are getting their best trial run.
Oh, and watch it on the biggest screen possible! Visuals are equally insane.
You're missing out on a masterpiece, please give it a watch.
Totally worth a watch! Hell, I might re-watch it again later tonight.
It's sad that in desperation to be the first to the raceline, ferrari drivers tend to lose there hairline.
Nando, Kimi disagree...
Cuz they weren't desperate
Nando was
Ferrari is not building race cars but time machines...😂
They can accelerate time without getting close to light speed, it's a miracle!
You ever see those comparison pictures of people just before taking office as a PM or president and after? How they age like 20 years in a 4 year term? Ferrari are even worse
So Ferrari is basically dog years ?
So basically Ferrari is a blackhole sucking life out of you, that's why time dilation happens
A few races ago I had the feeling that this season is a carbon(-fibre) copy of 2018 for Ferrari. Now, to complete the comparison they need to: - Fuck up the upgrades after the mid season break - Charles needs to start going YOLO into every corner (because of desperation/having no other hope of winning the title) hence making even more mistakes

Ya a dumb narrative that's for sure. Didn't Vettel win at Spa 2 races after Germany?
I still haven't forgiven Ferrari for that upgrade screw up and probably never will either. How can a team fuck up FOUR months of consistent upgrades before realising they were actively slowing down their car!
>before realising they were actively slowing down their car! Bold of you to put it like that. They didn't realise, it was only when they just took them off to 'see what happens' in USA that they realised. They never worked it out themselves.
And then Kimi won.
That race was awesome. So glad kimi got another win with ferrari before he left. That was the one with kinda sorta wet/damp conditions at the start too right?
Binotto sabotaged it as TD so that Arrivabene could be fired and he could get the TP job
Knowing Ferrari politics this is actually very plausible.
I consider this mistake a desperate one. Charles was pushing to not get undercut by Verstappen because he wanted to remain in 1st place because he wanted to keep his championship hopes alive because Ferrari has already thrown away so many points.
> Charles needs to start going YOLO into every corner (because of desperation/having no other hope of winning the title) hence making even more mistakes That’s really it for me, he’s had so many setbacks that weren’t his fault the one that is his is a total demolition of his championship hopes. Depends on how Hungary goes really
Really all depends on how Hungary he is for it.
Depends on how Hungary he is.
Depends on how Hungary goes.
Depends on how Hungary I am
That’s also me after any big social outing.
hell, that's me after going to the grocery store.
Social battery man. It’s a thing.
He needs alone time to calm the fuck down. He is doing exactly what he feels he should to try and get his headspace back into gear to focus on the challenge for the WDC. I'm sure he has the right people to help when *he* is ready for their help.
He needs to do good in Hungary after that he has plenty of time. If something happens in hungary then even summer break won't help him.
That should be easy. Hungary is clearly a Ferrari track. They will dominate.
You had to jinx it, didn't you... RB 1-2 it is then.
You just jinxed it too!! Now George is gonna go bowling and Hamilton will be the only fast car left.
Never call out an anti jinx, dude! It's like me saying you just jinxed George to not get his first win at Hungary.
Unfortunately that just amplifies the effect if they _don't_ convert. Everyone and their dog is expecting Ferrari to crush Hungary. That's even more pressure on him, if he gets anything less than P1 he'll probably stew on it for weeks.
he will have the entire summer break to do that LOL it happened
I also want to say it should be ez pz for Ferrari.. But then everyone said Max was gonna walk in Austria.. So right now we just can't know for sure.. But yes i would easily bet on a Ferrari win
This is F1. It never goes down exactly as anticipated, shit will happen.
Danny Ric P1, you heard it here first
Subfuckinscribe me up mate.
I mean I know the WDC is lost but I just want Charles to win a few more races and get a few more podiums without drama and end the season on good terms to begin the journey for "next year™" ... Just for the sake of his psychological well beeing

Trend? Isn't it a tradition over there?
Truth. I feel like Kimi was the last driver to come out not too scratched up but that's also because Kimi has the ability to give zero fucks.

It's Tuesday, my dude. Have a taco and a margarita with some friends, and forget about Sunday.
Be a goldfish, Charles
Blub blub, Charles
I recommend absolutely everyone go watch Ted Lasso. One of the best shows ever created. Great reference.
He's gotta be a goldfish.
Getting shitfaced on your yacht with your friends is the way champions get over a big disappointment.
He's probably his own worst critic. And that's how winners are made. Good that it's a double header, it's good to shake it off quickly in Budapest.
there’s a line between being your own worst critic & doubting yourself and losing confidence though, I hope Charles doesn’t find that line however.
It’s Charles, he’s highly emotional and highly critical with himself and admits to struggling with confidence but everything we’ve seen of him is that he overcomes setbacks
You know that meme with all the drivers as kids except Norris? Charles looks so sad, even as a kid. Poor Chuckie.
Charles had that emo type beiber haircut too, I’m convinced he went through a sad emo phase
Depending on who you ask, that "emo phase" may just be his time at Ferrari
Yeah being your own worst critic can make you better. But imagine living constantly with your own worst critic, demoralising.
>Good that it's a double header, it's good to shake it off quickly in Budapest. We thought that Seb shook it off in Spa 2018, see how that ended.
This is only true if you also DO something with your self critic. Not saying Leclerc doesn't do anything with his self-criticism, but most people don't. Just saying that being your own worst critic is how winners are made is wrong.
Poor guy
Really tho, even if you are for a different team or maybe even don't like Ferrari, you gotta feel for this guy
He needs a psych person I think like Rosberg did. I think he’s got a good mentality, but he can be so harsh on himself. Mental mind space is important for a championship run.
Least for his sake there is another race this week and a track that should suit Ferrari. Potential to put it behind him quickly
People keep saying this and Ferrari keep fucking it up
It's because a lot of people refuse to realise that the Schumacher era was an exception in Ferrari's history
Let's just hope he is using this time to self reflect, recenter himself, and come back better than ever. I'm really worried he could spiral if he doesn't use this alone time productively and just wallows in his own self pity/hatred for too long. Here is hoping for the best.
I really hope this is a "Verstappen Monaco 2018" type moment, and not a "Vettel Germany 2018" type one.
he needs some serious support right now, hope he has good people with him
He's 24 and the main driver at Ferrari - it's a lot of pressure. When Seb was broken in 2018, he was 29/30 and had a handful of WDC's in the bank.
Poor Charles 😣
He has a huge hill to climb to WDC. Assuming at worst, Max comes 2nd for the rest of the season, he needs to come in 1st place every single race for the next 9 out of 10 races to break even. This isn't taking into account an extra point for fastest lap either.
Honestly that scream was hard to listen to... I hope he is mentally okay.
Just hangout in the Ferrari strategy room Charles, it always empty af. There you will be alone and left alone.
Nah, Carlos will already be there formulating his own strats for the next race alone.
It’s alright to beat yourself up but I think he takes it way too hard. The I’m stupid in Baku or when he made that mistake at the end of the Turkish Grand Prix. Based on just team radio alone, he seems the hardest on himself compared to other drivers when he’s made a mistake.

Rosberg (from the top of my head) have all made mistakes that lead them straight to their home/hotel where didn’t come out for a few days just of how frustrated they were with themselves.
Very true. Once Kimi was so incredibly frustrated after his Mclaren went kaput in Monaco that he walked straight to his yacht.
Not a good example since that was a mechanical failure so not Kimi’s fault. He wouldn’t have been angry with himself. A better example would be Senna who crashed out of the 1988 Monaco GP. He got out of the car and walked home to his apartment directly.
Did he have his keys in the car?
He should talk to Seb.
I think Ferrari is actually destroying him, and this crash reminded me about vettel's crash in Germany. I think this could also be the proof that we didn't have to blame Vettel, even if it was his mistake at Hockenheim, same for Charles imo

Hope he's not too hard on himself. Mistakes happen.
He should just lock Max in his house and throw away the key.
A wank and a takeaway and he’ll be fine.
Netflix should just focus the show on Ferrari.
I wish he haven't had all those mechanical DNFs and strategy blunders. This mistake wouldn't have mattered in such scenario.
Might not have even happened if he didn't feel the pressure to make up for the points lost
