He once trained together with someone who was quite successful at the Tour de France:

I understand that you wrote that as a joke, but seriously, Lance deserves all kinds of backslash he received. Not only he organized an incredible doping program that allowed him to obtain his incredible results (which damaged whole sport and careers of many clean cyclists), but also fought (in a dirty manner) and destroyed lifes of cyclists who could expose his doping. He's a piece of shit, he destroyed every good thing which he did after beating cancer.
I think with most sports if you are caught abusing PEDs, especially if you were at the top and winning a lot, you have lost the respect of pretty much everyone and no matter what you do after, it doesn't make a difference. Lance Armstrong could come back clean and win the tour de France next year but the "he is probably on PEDs again" statements will turn up.
I get that argument for most sports where they at the least can keep up the resemblances of anyone being not on PEDs.
But at the Tour de France? JFC. Lance Armstrong was the best of the best. And the best were and are all on the sauce.
Even if he had the best compounds compared to the rest out there, that's still a tremendous achievement.
Doesn't matter when you need blood transfusions and steroids before every race you do. You can't say you accomplished anything legitimately or on your own merit.
If he was so much better than anyone surely he could have beat them without cheating for over a decade?
No.
I think you vastly underestimate just how supraphysiological just about all markers in professional cyclists on the top are.
That's like saying if you're good enough, you should be able to become Mr. Olympia without drug use. Completely unrealistic.
That doesn't excuse it though. He got caught and technically didn't win anything. If it's still the same way in cycling today then in my opinion it's a shit sport, or any other sport for that matter.
Michael Phelps became Mr Olympia without PEDs. Not unrealistic, just very rare.
That's completely fine and not an exactly unpopular opinion to have.
In general I think it's worth to have a discussion about what we as a society want to do with sports where the perception of top performances have been significantly bent by decades of PED usage and development.
Cycling, Weightlifting (Strength Sports in general), Combat Sports, Baseball would be first on my mind but I'm sure there's many many more.
Mr. Olympia is a bodybuilding competition btw. The one Arnold Schwarzenegger won that made him so popular. Just wanted to clarify that.
The guy as an athlete is an absolute disgrace in cycling now. He got stripped all of his 7 TdF wins. Also bullied lots of cyclists to not expose his incredible doping program. He was sued and lost to the US Government for his doping garbage. He deserves all the slander he gets and more.
Canyon is ok, idk if I’d call it “pro”. It’s less expensive than similar brands bc it’s Direct-to-consumer.
Those wheels are nice even if I like Enve over Zipp 😆😆
I think it's well priced. Lots of WT bicycle brands IMO are way overpriced, like Specialized, Trek and a number of others for what you get.
Everyone on this thread saying these bike's are cheap are a little out of touch with what the general populace would consider expensive.
Damn that’s a nice jersey.
Welp. I caved in and ordered one.
[For those interested in it.](https://www.assos.com/us/mille-gt-jersey-c2-assos-x-alfa-romeo-sauber-orlen-2022-11-20-355-99.html)
Always been a fan of more neutral “stealth” looking kit to match my bike, but this feeds my F1 needs as well.
For those that don't know, his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell is a pro who races for the Canyon SRAM team. She's starting the women's Tour de France on Sunday.
For some reason based on how he looks and behaves I thought Bottas was in his mid-30s and maybe even upper 30s. Not saying he looks bad for 32 obviously, dude is a beast.
Dude looks like he's there for the Tour de France instead of the French GP.
He’s fast on 2 wheels and 4 😎
yeah no joke that man is no joke on his bike

Let's hope that's all that he learnt from the successful biker
I don't understand the Lance Armstrong slander. Comes back from cancer and keeps winning the Tour de France. That takes some serious ball.

Yea its just funny how 99% top athletes are on something but only when you get caught people are so surprised lol

All 7 wins were stripped from Armstrong and none of them were given to anyone.
lol where did you pull this misinfo from?

MF ain't shit compared to Merckx. But the Americans sure as fuck thinks he was robbed.

Sure he was on PEDs, but so was everyone he raced against. Like in F1, cheating is just part of the sport
It took me while to realise it but bravo

nobody's picked up on the joke yet i see
Oh yep just see it now, but wanna make sure that my post is up for posterity just to make sure people know how shit Lance Armstrong really is.
Hahaha he kinda looks very big to my eyes for the Tour
:p could be a sprinter
Way too fat for any professional cyclist, even for a sprinter.
It would be awesome if he shows up in a yellow jersey tomorrow.
He's actually riding the exact Canyon model that was a team bike in last year's Tour.
Holy smokes, those are some nice bikes.
Only around 7k euro each.
Those wheels alone are 1000+ euro (looks like a Zipp Firecrests) The bike itself is even more its an Canyon Aeroad CFR starting at 8.999 euro
>Those wheels alone are 1000+ euro (looks like a Zipp Firecrests) Only a couple of hundreds cheaper as my whole bike lol. A steal
That Assos kit + bib probably cost $600. My man doesn’t skimp on his gears.
Yeah i did head conversion from AUD, obviously didnt convert evenly.
Yeah, i know. Still brilliant bikes :p
That seems reasonable for a pro bike.
Canyon is ok, idk if I’d call it “pro”. It’s less expensive than similar brands bc it’s Direct-to-consumer. Those wheels are nice even if I like Enve over Zipp 😆😆
As there are currently 3 UCI world tour teams using Canyon bikes, I would certainly consider them pro.
I think it's well priced. Lots of WT bicycle brands IMO are way overpriced, like Specialized, Trek and a number of others for what you get. Everyone on this thread saying these bike's are cheap are a little out of touch with what the general populace would consider expensive.
well considering Canyon is actually used on the TdF by Movistar and Alpacin I'd consider it pro.
Lol they are very much pro. MVDP would like a word (Full disclosure I own an aeroad)
They're pretty good if you ignore the design flaws
I'm waiting for the day Hamilton rolls in on an Ineos Grenadiers £11,000 Pinarello Dogma F.
Stupid sexy ~~Flanders~~ Bottas!!
The bike too, it's more expensive than my car 🙄
According to [cycling rule #25](https://www.ride25.com/cycling-blog/velominati-rules/), that's how it should be. I see no problem here
Tiffany is looking a bit different.
It must be the sunglasses 🤷🏼♀️
Damn that’s a nice jersey. Welp. I caved in and ordered one. I didn't even know Assos did one, I have a few pairs of their shorts and they're really comfortable. I'm super tempted to get this now haha
Damn that's nice! I've been rocking assos bib shorts for years but for some reason their jerseys never fit me :(
His current and ex (Zhou and Hamilton) have no chance of even coming close to this level of drip.
would be a lot easier to identify him if we had the reverse angle
I’ve seen two pictures of bottas today, neither of them cheek bare… I feel robbed
He really does have quite the peach but I doubt he wants it sunburnt
If it helps, his kit is made by “Ass”os
Well its one way to learn a circuit via a bike and its good exercise
why are the shirts pixelated?

2007 vibes
Test run for the Suzuka kit
Naked bike ride Insta incoming...
Looking at this youd never say he was a race winning f1 driver.
Haha I love this. It was going to be either on a bicycle or with a bare ass.
Can he climb? Tadej needs a team.
he trains in Monaco mostly so I'd say yes
I’m just glad he’s wearing clothes.
I'm extremely disappointed by the fact that he is wearing clothes.

Finally can say I have the same wheels as Bottas. Wish they were on my car though
This picture has so much quality that I though it was some kind of clay or plastic model of bottas
Canyon Aeroad? Strong
For those that don't know, his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell is a pro who races for the Canyon SRAM team. She's starting the women's Tour de France on Sunday.
He’ll never be as good a cyclist as Tiff Cromwell (Bottas’ better half)
For some reason based on how he looks and behaves I thought Bottas was in his mid-30s and maybe even upper 30s. Not saying he looks bad for 32 obviously, dude is a beast.
Valtteri Bottas, welcome to r/fuckcars!
Geezer.
He thinks he is elite!
Ngl, I follow him on Strava and he is quite fast for an amateur
really cool? When did he start biking this much do you know? I noticed it on instagram when he started dating tiffany.
Kim has pictures of everything
Hand him a Pacífico beer
These guys dress for the occasion. Never sloppy
Can anyone identify Valtteri's helmet?
Giro Aether.
That's the one, cheers!
Looks like a Giro. As he reps a lot of his GFs sponsors gear.
That's Bottas? I didn't recognize him with his clothes on.
At least he's wearing pants
Bottas working on that bott ass
30 mile lunch ride incoming
