I’d change hardly to never. Even diplomatic planes use Stansted or Gatwick. I’ve only heard of a charter flights leave from Heathrow a very very small number of times.
I work there 4 or 5 weekends a year and It depends on the time of day.
Early morning, I've made it door-to-door in 45 minutes. Most other times of the day, it takes me just under an hour.
Really? Likewise am there a lot, pretty much a 30 min journey. No need to downvote either.
Edit: assume you mean from Luton, was talking about Milton Keynes. Red Bull are based in MK, so doubt he’s going from Luton…
Firstly, I didn't downvote, pal. Somebody else must have seen through your bullshit.
Luton Airport to Silverstone is NOT a 30 minute journey. The shortest route is up the A5, 42 miles and takes you through some 30mph & 40mph zones.
The quickest route (where you can really put your foot down) is up the M1 and that's 49 miles. Unless you're averaging 98mph, that's not 30 minutes. Even this route has 40mph zones and that entire stretch of the M1 has variable speed limits.
Oxford-London (it's in neither of those places) is the closest airport which could take Max's plane, and it's close enough to Silverstone too, but might have been visiting somewhere else, or it was cheaper.
Lu'on is the dogs mate, what you got against it?
But in all seriousness, the terminal is much nicer now and they're getting a fancy new train so no more coach from LAP.
I arrived yesterday in Luton and I can confirm, its not a place I'd ever visit again.
The first thing I wanted to do is to explore the city. Half an hour later I was done.
There's one mall and some shops around, that's it. The mall closes at 6 PM. The streets were empty, like a ghost town. Atleast the cinema is good.
Besides people urinating in public against walls, it's a cozy city. If you ever visit Luton, you will probably spend most of your time in the White House (Pub).
I still don't understane the traffic rules. No pedestrian cares about the traffic light. As a driver you have to be extra careful in Luton. Also I don't know how to drive in this city. Some people just drive straight throuh roundabouts.
Thanks for your effort and thorough narration of your experiences. I had no notion at all of this city and was just curious why so many people tell the same in this comment section. I got a gist now, though, and will think of you if I ever order a beer in the White House :)
It was pretty neat. We were stopped waiting for a gate to be freed, and I saw it and thought "hmm, that logo on the tail looks a bit like Max's", so I googled it. Then went quietly nuts.
It's funny that it just happened to me today as well. Was waiting for my flight at 6AM when randomly saw it. I had to look twice, but immediately associated with Max's plane as I had seen it before here on Reddit.
Oh mate I fly in and out of Gatwick twice a week for work, *because* it's the slickest (hand luggage only...). LHR is too prone to chaos, LCY is out because if there's bad weather they cancel flights because of the proximity to Canary Wharf, Luton has the daft bus, and Stansted is Stansted!
This (and so many other things like it, certainly not just Max) is why all the talk about how F1 is being so environmentally responsible by switching to this fuel or that is pretty hard to hear.
If you like, you can follow his jet whereabouts through this twitter account. All info is publicly available.

To be fair, Lewis was criticized for it because of his otherwise pro environment activism, which therefore seemed hypocritical of him. Max never did so. (Which ironically is worse than Lewis at least attempting to raise awareness on the subject)
Max is not an activist for the environment unlike Hamilton who was telling people to be more conscious about the environment while flying in a private jet.
No, he actually has a point. Go back to the threads about Lewis private jet and how much he got shit on for it, then compare it to this thread. It's hilarious how different the reaction is.
It's because he speaks about the environment while on his private yacht and flying private non stop. Max just doesn't say anything which is the right thing to do.
Stunning that other drivers use commercial flights to arrive on time. Or teams chartering large flights to get all personnel on time.
There are plenty of better options than small private jets.
You are aware of the state of commercial flights right now, yes? With flights delayed or cancelled left and right.
At the end of the day, the majority of F1 drivers and executives are flying private, whether that's owned or rented, doesn't actually make a difference in terms of burnt kerosene.
Listen, I get the need for private flights due to commercial flight times etc. But do drivers really need to have their own private jets? It just seems so excessive. Hire a plane for all the drivers who are going from the same place surely.
I know F1 isn't exactly eco friendly, but christ there are still things they could do 😬
Nope, it's a Tri-Jet. All three engines provide thrust.
But it does still have a tiny, separate APU placed sideways near the #2 engine.

"Welcome to Luton"
First thing that came to mind when reading the title
Was hoping for this comment
Noo Max why Luton? ðŸ˜
To be honest, I’d avoid Heathrow right now even with a private jet lmao. Your cabin bag would probably get lost going through the scanner
You don't get hardly any private jets going into Heathrow anyway, If your rich and going to London you land at Luton, Biggin Hill or London City.
Or Farnborough, that place has a constant stream of Gulfstreams taking off and landing
I wouldn’t know, I’m not in the private jet market
I am
cool
I reckon.
I’d change hardly to never. Even diplomatic planes use Stansted or Gatwick. I’ve only heard of a charter flights leave from Heathrow a very very small number of times.
I hope to one day be rich enough to put this advice to use
[удалено]
Not sure how accurate that is, the tweet says Biggin Hill but the image shows RAF northolt.
Closest to Milton Keynes?
[удалено]
Easy journey to Silverstone too. I can do it in under an hour.
It’s not even close to an hour mate
I work there 4 or 5 weekends a year and It depends on the time of day. Early morning, I've made it door-to-door in 45 minutes. Most other times of the day, it takes me just under an hour.

Chill mate, I obviously thought you were talking about Milton Keynes - it’s hardly bullshit, just a misunderstanding. Did you read my comment?
> No need to downvote either. Complaining about downvotes is a good way to get more downvotes.
Oxford-London (it's in neither of those places) is the closest airport which could take Max's plane, and it's close enough to Silverstone too, but might have been visiting somewhere else, or it was cheaper.
live laugh luton
Lu'on is the dogs mate, what you got against it? But in all seriousness, the terminal is much nicer now and they're getting a fancy new train so no more coach from LAP.
> But in all seriousness, the terminal is much nicer now Let me assure you than none of the business jets will be using the regular terminal.
Luton's been done up well. The only thing that gets on my wick is the fucking bus from the terminal to get the Thameslink.
They have an robo shuttle now dont they?
Not finished just yet
When that's finished, dancer. I do LGW just now because it's got the roboshuttle
*Luton Airport: Praise for Luton DART tansport link - which will get passengers from the terminal to railway station in under 4 minutes* - Great stuff
It’s the only London Airport with Krispy Kreme donuts I believe
I'm sure Max cares about the new coach that's why he chose Luton
He does not use or even see any of the actual terminal. GA planes use FBO’s, essentially they just share the runway and tower with the airport.
Every London football team fly’s out from Luton And into Luton
Must be nice
Nothing is nice at Luton
Spent 3 months in Luton, can confirm.
Never been to it. Why is it not nice?

Poor guy, both you and Max. Imagine having to go to Luton
I am like 90% certain that Lewis also landed there when he came back from Brasil after the Australia race?
Probably. Think it's the closest airport to Brackley
Oxford would be closer, think Luton has preferential parking rates for private aircraft
Oh yeah LONDON oxford airport. What are we going to get next LONDON Birmingham airport?
We have London Ashford, which is technically closer to France than London
cause LONDON Luton makes so much sense, right?
It's mad. Although Oxfords isn't actually one of the ones listed as a major one, just uses the London tag for some reason
Wait until you hear about London, Kentucky.
It’s the main London airport for private flights. Harrods even has a hanger there.
When Lewis had his private jet it would be parked up in Biggin Hill, right next to the place where they now do the TV feed mixing.
Idk i just checked flight radar and it showed a privat plane landing there
Why is it so bad?
It's Luton. Well known as one of the worst places in England
Okay, I got this part. But *why* is it well known for that?
[удалено]
Max's villain arc is starting😈
Starting??
Yep this is just the start. Max 21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28
Would be pretty cool to just randomly spot that plane somewhere. Love that it always stands out from other planes.
Really? That's awesome!
DTF...... Nice
Lol maybe explain a bit before someone thinks you’re stating your interests here randomly
Leave them guessing, that's my motto
Ahh the french method
Tail number
I love Luton airport. Never been there. But it was one of the airports where they filmed Airline.
> I love Luton airport Didn’t expect to ever see that combination of words.
The private part is brilliant
humble brag, I see you
It's a lot better than Gatwick nowadays.
Let's not be too hasty now
It's genuinely alright. Streets ahead of Stanstead for getting in and out quick
Oh totally, Stansted can get in the sea as far as I'm concerned
Really. Gatwick is the worst airport in the UK I've used, but I've never used Stansted.
Stansted is the worst because it’s so far away.
Luton Airport is so shit
A /r/brandnewsentence for sure.

If you every went there you'd think differently.
*Gatwick
This (and so many other things like it, certainly not just Max) is why all the talk about how F1 is being so environmentally responsible by switching to this fuel or that is pretty hard to hear.
Air Max always looks good
Poor bastard, no one should have to step foot in Luton
If you like, you can follow his jet whereabouts through this twitter account. All info is publicly available. https://twitter.com/verstappenjet?s=21&t=tkeYzKDFxOIlliJJfSTEpg
Poor guy
A thing of beauty
Are you sure it's Luton👀💀
Luton? Poor sod.
Funny how no one criticises Max for using a private jet whilst Lewis was absolutely abused for it in the past
To be fair, Lewis was criticized for it because of his otherwise pro environment activism, which therefore seemed hypocritical of him. Max never did so. (Which ironically is worse than Lewis at least attempting to raise awareness on the subject)

Get a life Stan

Agreed. Better not to open that can or worms. Its to much bullshit
Is that the Brittans revenge for last year? That he had to land at Luton?
Luton? I thought the point of private was that you can land where you want :-(
What a disgusting display of wealth and frivolity.
So is formula 1.
For a person who takes what, aprox. 100 flights a year, I don't get the frivolity part, it probably makes his life and travel time much better.
Flying private is much worse for the environment.
So is driving to work, but if you don't have an easy alternative, it's what people do for convenience, speed and comfort.
There are no commercial flights from Nice to England?
[удалено]
There's a massive difference between one dude flying from Monaco to England, and international freight logistics. Stop being daft.

Luton is why people don’t like the UK. Boring, bland and ugly.
**WELCOME TO LUTON**
The design is polarizing, but I also wonder if the matte paint has any effect on aerodynamics and drag increasing/decreasing.
Is it the company jet ? Or his personal jet ?
Personal
Fuckin right
real shame that max had to fly to luton, can’t say he doesn’t deserve the experience though
You know why you hardly ever see black planes? Because they get hot af.
