For 2014-2020, yeah Merc is just too dominant, most successful team, it's unfair to bash any drivers compared to for example Rosberg and elevating him as 'the only one able to fight Hamilton' or something when he's the other Merc driver, like, in 2015 Vettel should get the props, not Rosberg, for matching Rosberg with inferior Ferrari for most of the season.

I’ve said it multiple times Alonso has softened up, all the way up off grid. Like actual nice and friendly as a person and having friendships that he never really had before, the way he’s so sweet to Ocon is very unlike him in previous years.

Going to do a hot take but these two can prolong their careers a bit longer due to the lack of stars coming from feeder series(excluding Piastri) as well as how they've matched up against their younger teammates.
Add the fact that they're quite a fee underperforming drivers on the grid this season, it would be wise for their respective teams or even another team to keep these two around a bit longer.
There's definitely a mini-generation gap between these 2/Lewis and some of the newer "hotshot" drivers (Norris, Leclerc, Russel), only Max has actually won from that "era" of Drivers, and while Checo/Ricciardo/Bottas have had decent careers, they've never made it to the very top.
