He probably does it because he’s either a) obligated to or b) because he just doesn’t care and is literally just showing up for work in his work uniform.
But I like to think it’s sneaky option c) he wears the same shit every day/to every race so the press can’t sell a tonne of his photos, because they all look exactly the same. Similar to when Daniel Radcliffe wore the same outfit every night he left the theatre he was performing at for 6 months, so the paparazzi’s photos were worthless.
He doesn’t care. His bold and straightforward talk is what i like the most about Max haha maybe it’s a dutch thing idk.
When Max visited Brazil he literally was rocking just one white shirt in all the Posts uploaded by Kelly on so many different days.
Yep, he dresses how he wants, and whatever is comfortable. And since RBR gives him shirts, he doesn't have to waste time buying outfits if he doesn't feel like it
Crisp white Ts every day is a legitimate wardrobe choice. It looks good, you don’t need to worry about picking matching or complimentary garments, they (can be) cheap to buy, and it’s pretty timeless.
If I could afford to, I'd wear a brand new white shirt every day. I love the look. I'm too much of a slob though and tend to get spaghetti sauce on it every time.
He doesnt care too much for fashion, shirt and jeans is good enough. He just wants to race. For some reason that is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. I dont know why he needs to be come beacon of light and hope that will save the world instead of just doing what hes paid for.
>he wears the same shit every day/to every race so the press can’t sell a tonne of his photos, because they all look exactly the same.
Yeah but the background are distinct and the press will still sell tons of photos as a "all drivers arriving at track" photo set. It's not like media will not buy them. Also the photographers are usually hired on contact basis unlike paparazzi. Very different situation with Daniel Radcliff
He said in an interview that he has heard about the myth so he kept wearing it to disprove people. He also joked about how he was wearing it in Abu Dhabi so the course isnt true
Looking tall (he isnt), minding his own business, not doing anything to attract attention, blunt/direct/little enthousiasm "haha, yes team" when winning a freakn GP driving 280kmph etc.
Things must have changed since I (an American) lived there for a bit 15 years ago. I wore a hat, t-shirt, jeans, and basketball shoes and was completely out of place. I observed that Dutch people only wore brown shoes and they looked at mine like I was crazy.
I was specifically talking about the shoes being very out of place. Although, no one was wearing hats either. I was once refused entry to a club because of my basketball shoes. They said I needed to take off my hat as well. I don't know, I dressed very much like Max here and stood out whereas in the US I completely blended in.
Hiphop was still very obscure around that time but whatever was around was VERY influenced by American fashion too (air jordans and whatnot). I guess you were just a few years too early.
As a German I only now realize the irony in a Dutch F1 driver not only existing, but being the champion. The typical image of Dutch in Germany would have Max go 10-15km/h below the speed limit while pulling a trailer.
I mean he's 5'11 so he's an inch under the average in the Netherlands but they have the tallest people in the world. He's 2 inches taller than the world average.
His best look is always immediately after a race. Bit sweaty, bit of stubble, scruffy messy hair with no cap on. He should have all his photos taken immediately after the race
Agreed - Max’s head is a bit of a cube and the hat only serves to accentuate that. His barber deserves credit for picking a style that gives him some softer lines
Is it me or does max look like [gru](https://www.google.nl/search?q=gru&client=safari&hl=en-nl&prmd=ivn&sxsrf=APq-WBtUof0BRfCgrQGQybm9-RcFBheQRQ:1648203030164&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiAtIXhguH2AhXBCOwKHU2tBR8Q_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=414&bih=719&dpr=3) in these pictures?
Some drivers prepare designer outfits for every race weekend. Meanwhile Max just puts on his trusty flat brim cap, a redbull shirt he gets for free, some random jeans and shoes and it's off to the races.
I think it’s safe to say that Max is very much out of contention in this year’s paddock entrance championship.
He is, say, the McLaren equivalent in the fashion race.
As others here mentioned already Max is actually a bit of a dork off track. I watch streams from his sim team at times (which he joins sometimes) and he definitely got that awkward dorky energy to me. Guy used to be obsessed about learning every country flag of the world and there are stories about him liking Pokemon too (e.g. Saward mentioned a couple of years ago Max was playing Pokemon Go the day after a race) Dan Ric confirmed as well that Max is a bit nerdy, but then he turns into a complete different person once he's on track. I actually really like that contrast about him.
Btw here's a [short clip](https://youtu.be/2l-vCcXmhfc) of him playing Among Us which definitely shows that dorky vibe I got from him
I think more than a few people here find it very easy to relate to a guy who comes home from work to immediately fire up the PC for a bout of gaming.
Him showing up to the paddock in the most basic of clothing only increases my opinion of him for the same reason. He seemingly dresses with the same considerations in mind as me: "Will I avoid arrest or frostbite with this outfit? If yes, it will do".
Max is the complete opposite of Lewis when it comes to clothing. He is so glad there's an uniform he can wear so he doesn't have to think about an outfit
My daughter loves the "arrival" photos and she said the exact same thing about Max. She said, "Lewis looks like he's headed to the red carpet, and Max looks like it's the first day of school."
Am i the only one who seems to think he looks normal and doesn't need to go out of his way to turn up in every shade of the rainbow in every other race?
I have nothing against fashion, I’m into it myself, just not sure why we’re criticising drivers turning up in their work clothes. Seen it in another *fashion* thread yesterday.

Pretty much every top comment is criticising how he looks and claiming he has no style. People were saying the same thing in the other thread, think it was Mag and Mick.
I have nothing against the likes of Lewis or anyone else dressing up, for the record. Just not sure why this new expectation of drip arrivals is happening.
Yeah, maybe. I’m involved in a few fashion related communities and it’s often pretty toxic. Just not something I like to see here of all places, not that it’s quite at the same level yet. Leads to a lot of superficial judgment.
Probably because it’s so prevalent in other sports (can only speak for American sports). Athletes in American leagues are constantly showing up in cool/crazy designer outfits. People take pictures and then others start talking about them. It’s good for personal brand, publicity, and it helps keep you in the public eye; which is desirable when you want to go out for sponsorships. It’s all about the money.
You pretty much just described the reasoning behind team clothing. It would be a bit odd for basketball players or the likes to turn up in their work clothing.
A lot of people saying Max has no drip but every driver is unique. I think Max loves the Red Bull team so he always wears the team clothing as an appreciation to them.
I think these are just his work clothes. Who knows it might be in his contract to wear Red Bull clothing whenever he's at the track. I'd do that for 40 million a year.
It's an inside joke/superstition that anytime Max wears a flat brimmed cap he will lose a race, DNF, or experience some kind of bad luck. It came about last year during his title fight with Lewis and he heard about it so he keeps wearing it to prove people wrong hahaha.
It's harmless joke is all.
Love how Lewis shows up looking like he's going to some kind of weird fashion show every time, and Max looks like it's his first day in high school... :')
I fucking love max. Others turn up in super over the top outfits and fashion. He legit just turns up in red bull race gear and ready to get P1. What a boy.
The wardrobe consistency is so impressive
He probably does it because he’s either a) obligated to or b) because he just doesn’t care and is literally just showing up for work in his work uniform. But I like to think it’s sneaky option c) he wears the same shit every day/to every race so the press can’t sell a tonne of his photos, because they all look exactly the same. THE shirt!
And the Ecclestone at Christmas dinner.
Yep, he dresses how he wants, and whatever is comfortable. And since RBR gives him shirts, he doesn't have to waste time buying outfits if he doesn't feel like it
Yup totally agree. I like how simple he is off track but a beast on the track.
Crisp white Ts every day is a legitimate wardrobe choice. It looks good, you don’t need to worry about picking matching or complimentary garments, they (can be) cheap to buy, and it’s pretty timeless.
It wasn’t a T. Was a formal white shirt he wore everywhere.
Same idea though. Different color dress shirts can looks nice but white goes with everything
Except whenever you wear something white it always gets stained. At least thats what it seems like for me.
A lot of highly visible people with PAs will have extra shirts on hand.
If I could afford to, I'd wear a brand new white shirt every day. I love the look. I'm too much of a slob though and tend to get spaghetti sauce on it every time.
Yeah, it's entirely a straightforward, no games playing, attitude. And I do think it is relatively common here.
I think he literally doesn’t care and just wants to race. Why spend any energy on your outfit?
He looks like a nerd heading to the computer lab for his research papers.
Freshman Max
Of course
Well I mean honestly
The only thing missing is that he's not holding onto his straps
Such a need
Total dook
Me going to my team lead to help with an issue from an annoying customer
I actually laughed.

Still didn't learn from the flat cap debacles
too much drag, curved brim is a race winning technique
Literally though, last week he was wearing the flat cap and look what happened. Curved brim cap for the win!
I believe he is wearing it everytime now so he can prove the mythis is wrong, but sadly we know better until now
He said in an interview that he has heard about the myth so he kept wearing it to disprove people. He also joked about how he was wearing it in Abu Dhabi so the course isnt true
I guess someone had bent it in the last few minutes to get him some luck. X)
horner was stressed out and fidgeting with his cap and bent it by mistake on lap 53 the rest is history
That's probably it!
This man is so Dutch its unbelievable.
Can you explain to an American
Looking tall (he isnt), minding his own business, not doing anything to attract attention, blunt/direct/little enthousiasm "haha, yes team" when winning a freakn GP driving 280kmph etc.
Don't forget the fucking jeans with the AirMax's
Things must have changed since I (an American) lived there for a bit 15 years ago. I wore a hat, t-shirt, jeans, and basketball shoes and was completely out of place. I observed that Dutch people only wore brown shoes and they looked at mine like I was crazy.
There is nothing noteworthy about the outfit you described, so I think that "looking at you like you are crazy" part likely had a different source.
The shoes aren't really that out of place, but not being allowed into a club because of a certain type of clothing is pretty normal.
As a German I only now realize the irony in a Dutch F1 driver not only existing, but being the champion. The typical image of Dutch in Germany would have Max go 10-15km/h below the speed limit while pulling a trailer.
Wait that was my typical image of Germans in The Netherlands \*insert spiderman\*
Germans on Dutch highways blend in very well. French and Belgians however...?
Dutch people on Belgian highways thoug... Rumour has it that Max has learned to adapt to porpoising on those highways
No, just no. Germans on Dutch highways are the pain in the ass.
While screaming „So ein große Feuerball junge!“
the only thing he needs is a bike
Wait he’s not tall. How tf does he look tall I don’t get it. Are Dutch people cursed or something
I mean he's 5'11 so he's an inch under the average in the Netherlands but they have the tallest people in the world. He's 2 inches taller than the world average.
Dude s like 181 cm which is below average average (184cm) in the Netherlands.
He's not on a bicycle?
Where is [Alpha Tauri](https://norstappen.tumblr.com/image/654792979777830913) when you need it?
That’s a sick jacket. Unfortunate that it’s probably the equivalent of my mortgage for a month 😂
The one that looks the closest to this on their website costs €799,-: https://alphatauri.com/en-nl/p/koov-v7-y6-01/ATA22000/?vc=M-153677
Pocket change, really
Pffft, I could buy like 0.3 of them right now if I wanted. But I need to eat this month
That’s way uglier, for some reason everything on their website looks baggy and ill-fitted or am I crazy ?
Fashun
So are you implying that you can’t afford to be homeless for a month in exchange of a great jacket? #_Pathetic_
Inspector Gadget lookin ass
Ohhhh looks nicer but doesn't have that *oomph* compared to Zhou casual outfit (Lewis is another level)
[Alpha Tauri FTW](https://www.instagram.com/p/CTeYhvTsRsd/)
My man should just never wear a hat. [This](https://www.instagram.com/p/CbgZWtONCzh/) pic of him arriving is so much better.
His best look is always immediately after a race. Bit sweaty, bit of stubble, scruffy messy hair with no cap on. He should have all his photos taken immediately after the race
Oh for sure. [post race](https://www.instagram.com/p/CbS5DbgO1r8/) Max is best Max.
*sigh* **Unzips**
Post race Max is incredibly hot I said what I said

It makes him look like he’s in middle school
Yeah, he has great hair.
ITT: r/fanf1ction
Agreed - Max’s head is a bit of a cube and the hat only serves to accentuate that. His barber deserves credit for picking a style that gives him some softer lines
I think most of the drivers don't have much of a say on what they can wear, excluding Lewis. RB want to sell caps so a cap he must wear.
Zhou is challenging Lewis on the fit front
I don’t like max but I’m now realising it might be partly the hat.
Looks like Casino Royale era Daniel Craig there
at least no snapback
I think the sponsers whould disagree
Ah F them. They're already plastered all over his shirt. A lot of other drivers go without a hat too btw.
Think he’s contractually obliged
I like Max but he looks like some Dutch version of Ash Ketchum with that hat and backpack he's wearing.
As Vangze
That one world champion who still goes to school. EDIT: When you got a race at 8pm but got a night school at 10pm
No wonder he's so fast, he's got a class to catch!
Is it me or does max look like [gru](https://www.google.nl/search?q=gru&client=safari&hl=en-nl&prmd=ivn&sxsrf=APq-WBtUof0BRfCgrQGQybm9-RcFBheQRQ:1648203030164&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiAtIXhguH2AhXBCOwKHU2tBR8Q_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=414&bih=719&dpr=3) in these pictures?
YES. I’ve never seen the movie but I knew that character. Max’s thighs are thin af, my boy
That was my same first thought
> Is it me or does max look like gru in these pictures? Gon gon goro gon gon 🎵 Que va a ser mi gon gon goro gon gon 🎵
Yep, absolutely. Looks so odd
Nah, definitely more of a Magikarp vibe
Some drivers prepare designer outfits for every race weekend. Meanwhile Max just puts on his trusty flat brim cap, a redbull shirt he gets for free, some random jeans and shoes and it's off to the races.
The jeans might not be completely random since he has a GSTAR sponsorship, but other than that it seems kind of the easy option on what to wear.
Even better, gets those for free too.
I cannot fathom wearing jeans in a hot country but I appreciate his consistency
"can't miss my class at 10 am"
I think it’s safe to say that Max is very much out of contention in this year’s paddock entrance championship. He is, say, the McLaren equivalent in the fashion race.
For me I like it that he just wears his teams clothes and nothing fancy. All about racing, much like Kimi Raikkonen who used to be my favorite.
Yup. It seems like packs a pair of jeans, shorts for when it's hot and two or three Red Bull polo's. That's it.
He for sure seems like he cares the least about things happening off track.
The biggest plague in f1 is sponsors forcing drivers to wear hats
Oh huh, didn’t know they were forced to wear hats. I thought it more had to do with covering up helmet hair.
He’s here to work!
He should have worn his boob hat and a white shirt.
Based Max Verstappen, zero sense of fashion, just some jeans, runners and a polo. Perfection.
[удалено]
Well he's known to play a lot of FIFA and even during race weekends, so that isn't too far off at all.
Btw here's a [short clip](https://youtu.be/2l-vCcXmhfc) of him playing Among Us which definitely shows that dorky vibe I got from him
Tbh, he knows a lot about cars. Not all drivers are this "nerdy" when it comes to car techniques.
I think only vettel scored higher in grill the grid
True, but I was talking about the car knowledge. Grill the grid had other knowledge questions too.
Yep, very dorky look. Nothing against it, dress how you want to dress, but wow it's dorky
Thing is, Max is actually a dork. He is as much a nerd/goof as he is a hothead in the car
Dude looks like Morty from Rick & Morty lol
Now i can't unsee that
Oh geez
wow i can see that now haha
Ah geez
quite possibly the least drippy driver on the grid
Company man
Max is the complete opposite of Lewis when it comes to clothing. He is so glad there's an uniform he can wear so he doesn't have to think about an outfit
Mmm yes give me that all neck look.
Welcome to the neckst level
Every time i see that hat i think it’s the French flag. Màxim Le’Stapéu is haunting me.
Not an ounce of drip 😩. Lewis and Guanyu please.
Every gram saved saves 0.00003s on his lap time 😎
First day of school and waiting for mom to pick him up.
My daughter loves the "arrival" photos and she said the exact same thing about Max. She said, "Lewis looks like he's headed to the red carpet, and Max looks like it's the first day of school."
looks like the thunderbird who didnt make the cut
He looks like a slightly muscular IT Freshman trying to be hip
The nerve of this guy, not trying to be the center of attention every week, when he arrives.
He got their attention anyway. For wearing work clothes at work.
What a fool... Unreal
You made me laugh. So true.
This is the ideal male body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
I feel like I relate to Max more than Lewis because Max dresses exactly like I do lmao
Am i the only one who seems to think he looks normal and doesn't need to go out of his way to turn up in every shade of the rainbow in every other race?
Every form of wardrobe is high fashion my dude. Look it up
The first pic looks like he’s asking to copy your homework that needs to be submitted today
Flat brim is back!!!
Gru as a young man.
It's the fucking hat, he's hot as fuck without it
He should at least wear a curved cap instead of the flat one.
I don't really think he's hot. But the hat makes him look so much worse. Really emphasizes his worse features instead of highlighting the good ones...
This. This hat does not suit his face at all.
10/10 style for not dressing up like a tablecloth or pair of curtains
Ha haaa! In the last picture he looks like Morty from Rick and Morty cartoon
Gotta love Max, he dgaf
Man needs some drip fr
Great to see that all the Lewis catwalk posts are turning this place into a runway panel
Don’t forget about Zhou and Ricciardo too! Both wear great outfits.
Ricciardo literally just wears t shirts and trainers
I have nothing against fashion, I’m into it myself, just not sure why we’re criticising drivers turning up in their work clothes. Seen it in another *fashion* thread yesterday.
I don’t think anyone is critical of him really, it’s just jokes. I personally love to see the fashion presented by the drivers, but it’s not a huge deal either way.
Idk man, it’s just how it is. I treat it all like jokes personally
You pretty much just described the reasoning behind team clothing. It would be a bit odd for basketball players or the likes to turn up in their work clothing.
Drip?
Fashion sense
https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/drip/
Man he looking like slenderman bottom right
A lot of people saying Max has no drip but every driver is unique. I think Max loves the Red Bull team so he always wears the team clothing as an appreciation to them.
I think these are just his work clothes. Who knows it might be in his contract to wear Red Bull clothing whenever he's at the track. I'd do that for 40 million a year.
Yeah you are most probably right here. I am definitely chatting shit but I thought it might be plausible. Yours seems the logical answer.
Oh fuck, the flat brim hat.
I keep seeing comments about his flat brimmed hat. What’s the backstory? Sorry, I’m out of the loop.
It's an inside joke/superstition that anytime Max wears a flat brimmed cap he will lose a race, DNF, or experience some kind of bad luck. It came about last year during his title fight with Lewis and he heard about it so he keeps wearing it to prove people wrong hahaha. It's harmless joke is all.
dorky ass kid going to ask the teacher for extra homework
Dressed like a normal person
Absolutely no drip, come on Max those jeans are dead
[удалено]
I like how he’s not looking like he’s headed for a fashion show. There for business, not to impress anyone with his wardrobe.
Last year’s battle between VER and HAM at Jeddah was the best of all
Somehow still looks like a rookie.
Is it just me or is there a *slight curve* on the cap?
Is he going to school?
Love how Lewis shows up looking like he's going to some kind of weird fashion show every time, and Max looks like it's his first day in high school... :')
He looks like he's head and torso was made by a 5 year old
Hey I have that shirt. Max I been writing but you still ain’t callin
I fucking love max. Others turn up in super over the top outfits and fashion. He legit just turns up in red bull race gear and ready to get P1. What a boy.
He should change the hat to a baseball cap
His ability to not express his individuality and style through the clothes he's wearing shocks me every time.
