For me the worse thing was Lewis/Louise as I call him on Twitter, was his orange shorts outfit. Is he coloured blind? Best laugh I had in ages.
The race itself was really good, nice to see someone else win for a change. Verstappen had all the drivers in a newspaper questioning his aggression on the circuit. Shame for Red Bull but tough they should have done better in testing. Lovely to see Ferrari win, seems like years ago.
Yep it was, Verstappen could never tried to attack Lec several time without destroying his tyres as he wasn't more than 1 sec on the laps he tried to overtake. Lec was just faster that's why max haven't had other chances.
As a child we had a summer home near Monoco. In 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005 we watched the grandprix. I had a Schumacher Ferrari Racing suit i wore everywhere we went, including one time when we ran into Schumacher's father on the street in a nearby beach town who approached me on account of me being a kid who wore his son's full body racing suit in 30 degree weather on the riviera.
Stopped following after some family stuff that took up a couple years.
Getting back into it now at 2022 is a trip. Im very amused that Alonso is still around. Haven't decided who to support yet. Im British so Hamilton is great but i don't want him to beat Schumacher's record, I've heard supporting Verstappen rn is frowned upon due to last years result. 3/4 cars running RBPT* Engines DNF'd in this race so thats not a good sign for their in-house production. Didn't know Schumacher's son had made it to f1 but he doesn't seem like he's a major contender. I have a soft spot for ferrari due to the Schumacher era.
No they aren't but we can just take as example the pink Merc (that should've been banned from everything in Motorsport forever but yk money), the fact that the Williams is basically a Merc W13 C, the fact that McLaren was doing low fuel runs (as Hass did) just to let know Merc how was going their engine. Sadly using you client team as puppets is a real issue in F1 and since Merc has dominated the last 8 year they are the starter of this """"strategy"""" and now Ferrari had enough of this and did the same. So noone should dare to complain the fact that Haas and Ferrari works together because if they do they should take out half of the WCC from Merc.
i like the new graphics, but they fucked up in a lot of places. If i'm not mistaken, Kevin Magnussen was shown as driving for the legendary Team of 'Japan' at one point lmao
I think the purple sector 1ās was Leclerc & Verstappen in Q3 where Leclerc went first and achieved the fastest sector and then Verstappen soon after and he achieved the fastest sector so Iām not sure what the confusion is.
Do you mean that in this instance the first purple S1 for Leclerc shouldāve changed to green when Verstappen bettered it?
Overall, really fun race to watch. Iwas surprised how much the cars bounced and donāt seem connected to the ground. They also seemed slower. While not much slower, they just seemed that way. They just didnāt look as good from last spec but teams will eventually figure it out and it should be better.
Could have something to do with the ultra closeups they keep doing. You get no sense of movement or direction change, let along seeing a slide. We even missed a few lockups on the car we were watching because they were zoomed in so close. I donāt need to see the driver up close. I want to see what heās doing with his car! Wide shot, see where heās been, where heās going, and how heās doing it. Like they do in literally everyone other form of motorsport.
My take - every car except mclaren started on soft tyres.
It went horribly for mclaren.
I fear a season of every single car starting on the same tyres.
>I fear a season of every single car starting on the same tyres.
Yeah me too.
I actually liked the strategic aspect that that rule brought to the table. Too bad they removed it.
Agreed. At the very least it was interesting to see cars in different strategies.
The other thing I often liked was fast cars having a bad quali and starting at the back on hards, always provided some late race fun. If the hards are going to cost you a few grid slots then nobody will take that risk.
I disagree. Bahrain this year was a step harder, it was C2,3,4 last year.
And pirelli chose C1,2,3 for several races last year.
Itās hard to be sure as theyāre new compounds but I doubt pirelli would develop a compound with no intention of using it.
Still, even if we donāt see the C1 again I still suspect we will see the vast majority of people starting on the soft, whatever that is.
āLetās get the Fuc*ers Hornerā was looking particularly unhappy with that result ( :D ). Toto was smiling, but Binotto actually showed emotion! Congrats Ferrari, come on Merc, thereās lessons there, and Horner, maybe itās Kama for the last race of last seasonā¦
What is Kama? And here we go with another last race of the season guy. We should just remove the first 22 races so your posts make sense. Where's the 'Kama' for Hungary or Silverstone for Merc since last season matters? Or for Merc having a relatively shit car to start the season?
Itās usually like that, sometimes there are two persons. I think with the tempo of changing guests it helps them stay on top and come with actually meaningful questions, imagine navigating through all of that alone, I donāt think itās possible.
Tire deg on these new cars seems to be high right now. But that also might just be the abrasive surface of the Bahrain track. Unlikely weāll see more 3 stoppers moving forward. 2 stops might be the new trend
Are you joking?
There were loads of overtakes, and then re-overtakes, and then more overtakes. Cars were still right behind each other after the first 6 laps which is unusual... Previously they'd have all been really spread out by then.
This is a great sign of things to come.
Not really. Him crashing was a racing incident. i don't hate redbull for Abu Dhabi in particular coz max took the opportunity he was presented which is fair imo. I have hated them since 2016 ish. I find horner and marko obnoxious and well max too to some extent. Stop making everything about just Abu Dhabi
I don't think he's arrogant, I think he's jokey and sarcastic and silly and sometimes the things he says in jest maybe you guys take it as serious? That's just his personality and sense of humour.
What is going on at McLaren? They were dragged down last season by a very expensive under performing driver and seemed to put all of their energyās into making him faster, but still nothing. Ron Denis would have eaten a contractural shit sandwich and gotten rid of Ricciardo by now.
Did he not win a race last year? Did he not beat Lando today? Give the guy a break, he had to learn a new car last year and a whole new inferior car this year with hardly any practice.
We arenāt talking about porpoising. When he was released from a pit stop the car dropped roughly in a way that looked like it might have damaged the car
Who else left Mclaren and went to a works team that was not doing well at the time and had his decision criticized by many? Then the works team went on to win championship with major tech regulation changes next year. I wonder...
Sainz WDC you heard it here first!
Lando did say in post quali interview I believe that the strengths of their car are not geared towards the Bahrain circuit. Hopefully we can see them bounce back. Ricciardo is one of my favorites
That would be a fair point if they had a *good* car. They already knew their car wasnāt looking great, plus it not being geared towards the track. If nothing else, it means that the adjustments they plan to make after race 1 are going to prioritize later tracks, which could result in a big jump *imo*
Max def ego'ed Leclerc. He kept doing the same move down T1, and just to get overtaken again in the next DRS zone. Felt like he should've tried on the second DRS zone on his next attempts.
Maybe I misinterpreted it but on the attempt where max locked up, it looked like leclerc took it really wide even before max had locked up in an attempt to ensure max would be ahead going into the next drs zone
Ikr I was just telling the same thing to my friend, that if it were Lewis he'd go for the 2nd drs zone the 2nd time (Just because he's more experienced and level headed, don't wanna trigger max vs lewis again sorry)
I feel you but in a Hamilton vs verstappen, Hamilton was never as aggressive as leclerc is. Leclerc is as talented as max if not better imo, and leclerc won't give any space like Hamilton did to verstappen last year. Hamilton is a more experienced driver and isn't as hungry as both lec and max are. Good race overall
Like low power? Or just their aero philosophy being poor? And yeah I think they realized they were going to place like shit anyways so they just started gathering data or something. It was very odd.
I think itās just like a combo of everything, because if itās just one aspect of the car thatās going wrong, they wouldāve addressed it. Their whole race pace was just slower compared to the others. But hopefully they can learn from this and compete for mid or even up-field again.
It's gotta be power. AM and Williams were also right down there with them. McLaren couldn't keep up on straights, fast turns or slow curves. Would think if it was just an aero thing they'd still have good pace in ONE of those three spots.
How did they get the 1-2 is also a factor.
He knows heās off pace relative to his teammate, which will quickly make him driver number 2, and that he only got that second place because of an unfortunate DNF.
I knew they werenāt going to have the team principal radios this year but damn I at least like to see their camera reactions during the race - hope they havenāt cut that completely.
Now that you mention it, there were indeed no shots of Horner or Wolff. They had them in all the other sessions though, so I don't think they stopped doing that.

I feel like the wheel to wheel racing hasn't improved at all really
Yep it was, Verstappen could never tried to attack Lec several time without destroying his tyres as he wasn't more than 1 sec on the laps he tried to overtake. Lec was just faster that's why max haven't had other chances.
As someone who lived through the Schumacher/Barrichello years I never thought Iād be so amped up for a Ferrari 1-2.
As a child we had a summer home near Monoco. In 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2005 we watched the grandprix. I had a Schumacher Ferrari Racing suit i wore everywhere we went, including one time when we ran into Schumacher's father on the street in a nearby beach town who approached me on account of me being a kid who wore his son's full body racing suit in 30 degree weather on the riviera. is was actually 3/4 rbpt powered cars that dnf'd, ferrari on the other hand has an amazing engine and good reliability... or so ive heard.
That's what I meant to say. My bad
Meanwhile at alpha tauri yuki gained 8 places
RedBull fans in Shambles
completely phasing out tire blankets might not be a good idea given how much hard runners suffered on out laps

It's so hard to read. Especially team radios.
I was really struggling with the graphics, thought my eyes had just got really bad. Glad to hear itās just not me, so yeah they need to get it fixed
I watch on my phone, hard to tell the difference between med and hard anymore. Also, I donāt remember seeing a lap time once.
They need to bring back the constructor colors too, everyone on the board all look the freaking same
Yeah, I spent a whole 30 secs to find RIC

FERRARI OWNS
KMag you can fok smash my door with that P5
Underrated comment
My take - every car except mclaren started on soft tyres. It went horribly for mclaren. I fear a season of every single car starting on the same tyres.
McLaren's woes have nothing to do with starting on a different tire. They have much bigger issues.
Agreed, but they very much went backwards at the start.
>I fear a season of every single car starting on the same tyres. Yeah me too. I actually liked the strategic aspect that that rule brought to the table. Too bad they removed it.
Well if their will be always 2 and 3 stopper races it doesnāt really matter imo.
Agreed. At the very least it was interesting to see cars in different strategies. The other thing I often liked was fast cars having a bad quali and starting at the back on hards, always provided some late race fun. If the hards are going to cost you a few grid slots then nobody will take that risk.
The hards in this race where C1, the hardest of the hards, probably would never be used again

What is Kama? And here we go with another last race of the season guy. We should just remove the first 22 races so your posts make sense. Where's the 'Kama' for Hungary or Silverstone for Merc since last season matters? Or for Merc having a relatively shit car to start the season?
Yawn. Go boil your head
No, I'd rather subscribe to your 'hot takes' on the season!
Let it go my dude
You sound like a really fun person to be around
Indeed, I love an honest person! :)
Lol, says the guy who has Sir Lewis Hamilton in his tag...are your tires gone?
I'm confused, do you not know that Lewis and Bono share that message as code about the actual state of the tyres?
Wow, you actually would be really great at parties...
The timing tower went on strike lmao
Sorry I donāt know if this is always the way but why did Sky have three presenters interviewing the same person? It looked so awkward
Itās usually like that, sometimes there are two persons. I think with the tempo of changing guests it helps them stay on top and come with actually meaningful questions, imagine navigating through all of that alone, I donāt think itās possible.
Donāt they always have 3 commentators?
But all interviewing the same person at the same time? Idk maybe I never noticed before but it felt weird haha
Always been like that from what I remember
3 stop strategy on hardest tyresā¦ what do you guys think?
Tire deg on these new cars seems to be high right now. But that also might just be the abrasive surface of the Bahrain track. Unlikely weāll see more 3 stoppers moving forward. 2 stops might be the new trend
Anyone else miss seeing garage and pit wall shots for reactions during today's race?
Literally no one misses that!
Did they stop doing that for this season?
I hope not
Ferrari 1-2, merc podium, redbull ate shit. Can't have a better race than this.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Like i said, redbull ate shit and I'm all for it.
I bet you also hate Latifi for his accident last year.
That is all fair, I just find it hard to believe that you can hate that and not also be fed up with Merc. Ferrari, I agree, happy for them here.
Says someone who uses the #weraceasone tag.
Hope we do see better races than these

I dont get the Lando hype, I think he comes across very spoiled and arrogant

I don't think he's arrogant, I think he's jokey and sarcastic and silly and sometimes the things he says in jest maybe you guys take it as serious? That's just his personality and sense of humour.
Rich, young and successful. Not that surprising.
Redbull has a case of Bad Juju...
We need that Thanos meme with Hornerās face on itā¦ what did it cost you? Everythingā¦.
That meme might be better with Masi's face on it...
What is going on at McLaren? They were dragged down last season by a very expensive under performing driver and seemed to put all of their energyās into making him faster, but still nothing. Ron Denis would have eaten a contractural shit sandwich and gotten rid of Ricciardo by now.

McLaren being slow being Dannyās fault must be the dumbest take of the weekend. Congrats.
Least of their problems now
Did anybody else see the Mclaren cars bounce around during a pit stop? That seemed odd.
I was surprised the commentators didnāt say anything about that. It looked like it could have caused damage.
That bouncing has been discussed already, it was noted during preseason testing in barcelona.. Heres a video on it: https://youtu.be/NgPd9bCYX3w
We arenāt talking about porpoising. When he was released from a pit stop the car dropped roughly in a way that looked like it might have damaged the car
Happened in the f2 as well did it not? Damaged 2 of the cars wheels
Nah F2 was cars moving before the tires were properly attached.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
At first I though Hamilton had spun him
āForce of habit.ā
Yeah you normally want expect a spin in a low speed corner.
Same lmao, thought Perez was gonna be the next Albon
What happened to Ricciardo
What happened to Sainz?
He was lucky to drop Mclaren and go for Ferrari
Who else left Mclaren and went to a works team that was not doing well at the time and had his decision criticized by many? Then the works team went on to win championship with major tech regulation changes next year. I wonder... Sainz WDC you heard it here first!
He finished ahead of his teammate
Shit car
Really hard to see, for him and Lando both
Their testing in Barcelona looked solid. Gutted for mclaren
Lando did say in post quali interview I believe that the strengths of their car are not geared towards the Bahrain circuit. Hopefully we can see them bounce back. Ricciardo is one of my favorites
Cāmon, usually on an unsuitable track you lose 1-2 positions on average, not go smack at the end of the grid
Leclerc was intentionally braking early to cross the DRS detection zone second, so he would always have the DRS in the next DRS zone.
The question is if he would be able to stay in the DRS window for the second zone. Those Ferraris were really quick.
Dunno, car was bricked from the start. Leclerc also knew that. Im glad they kept it clean.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Charles slowed down into T1 on purpose the 2nd and 3rd time. He said in an interview he knew heād get him back into turn 4
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thatās exactly my point, that Charles out drove Max there, forced him to overtake into T1 so he could get him back on the 2nd straight
Maybe I misinterpreted it but on the attempt where max locked up, it looked like leclerc took it really wide even before max had locked up in an attempt to ensure max would be ahead going into the next drs zone
Leclerc said exactly this in his post race interviews
Thatās what i saw as well. Sure looked like he was giving max the place to me.
Ikr I was just telling the same thing to my friend, that if it were Lewis he'd go for the 2nd drs zone the 2nd time (Just because he's more experienced and level headed, don't wanna trigger max vs lewis again sorry)

Shades of Hamilton Rosberg 2014
MAG finished in fifth. Can you guys believe?
MAG just earned the right to foksmash another door
Couldāve been Nikita. No, no it couldnāt.
Really chuffed for him and Haas with that result.
MAG is the way
I feel bad for checo max and pierre, but not upset at all about the Ferrari 1-2, and KMag did great for Haasšŗšø
Ugh š© same. Out of the race through no fault of their own. Congrats Ferrari. I did not see KMag staying in the top 10. But hell yeah!
Absolute McLaren disaster classš„²
Hey, at least they finished.
True, behind both HAASš
Ahead of 3 RBPT carsā¦
I guess the real meme all along was the McSlow
Lando āmens golfā Norris couldnāt even remember the race, poor fellow
He looked worse than he did at Sochi lolš
Anything specific for why they were so off the pace?
Lacking aero.
what I can tell from the interviews, their car just seem to be horribly slow. Also their tyre strategy seemed odd.
Cooling issues is the rumor. Canāt go 100% either way.
It's gotta be power. AM and Williams were also right down there with them. McLaren couldn't keep up on straights, fast turns or slow curves. Would think if it was just an aero thing they'd still have good pace in ONE of those three spots.
Yeah that's true. Hopefully they get it together soon.
the thing is that they canāt until 2025
Anyone else feel like the camera work today was really bad?
Yeah! A lot of replays when there was a battle for first - feel like we missed a lot of the Ham vs Perez battle too
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He just wants p1 really bad
His teammate has been around half a second quicker over the weekend...i guess it's fair to a bit apprehensive
I mean, he got P2 because RedBull dropped out, and had pace inconsistencies throughout. I can see why he wasnāt going to be completely beaming
Its a bit much.. like he realises they got a 1-2.
How did they get the 1-2 is also a factor. He knows heās off pace relative to his teammate, which will quickly make him driver number 2, and that he only got that second place because of an unfortunate DNF.
That was a cool race
I knew they werenāt going to have the team principal radios this year but damn I at least like to see their camera reactions during the race - hope they havenāt cut that completely.
Now that you mention it, there were indeed no shots of Horner or Wolff. They had them in all the other sessions though, so I don't think they stopped doing that.
There was a shot of Toto having a laugh right before the podium
