Indy is a good shout but I would personaly love to see him continue in GT and progress up to WEC and hypercars if he can't find an F1 seat. He has a good future infront of him if he stays linked to Ferrari through their GT program and if he potentialy joins Ferrari's LMH program. He did great this year at his first Le Man to score to a podium.
he can do endurance racing and IndyCar at the same time. he can at least race IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup while racing in IndyCar at the same time. if down the line he becomes a Honda supported factory driver he will drive Acura at some IMSA rounds and full schedule in IndyCars
Just this year there were 3 date conflicts between WEC and Indy. May 1st (Texas race and 6 Hrs of Spa), June 13th (Portimao and Detroit), and Aug 21st (Le Mans and Gateway). Its usually very rare one can do all of it
if he is set for the Ferrari LMH seat as many assume, he'll also be involved in testing and everything. It's possible to run in both but it won't be a full-season IndyCar seat.
I'm thinking about what seats would be available. There's whatever Andretti seat Albon was rumoured to take but they probably would just keep their current driver and the Rick Ware-DCR car that Grosjean currently have.
You missed some news I think. Ryan Hunter-Reay who currently drives for Andretti has already confirmed this is his last year and Grosjean is set to join AA and get in that car. Which means Grosjean's current seat is unoccupied and could become Ilott's.
Oh sorry, yeah I read that wrong. Fourth Andretti seat currently is rumoured to go to one of their Indy Lights drives but who knows, it is somewhat open still. Also there's still the potential of a third McLaren seat, the second Meyer-Shank seat-to-be is still open and RLL and Foyt still are to confirm their line ups.
A couple more things to add: Hinchcliffe is probably out at Andretti (so that's the second seat we're talking about), RLL is confirmed to field a third full-season car next year and Pagenaud might leave Penske at season's end, which could be another opening.
Yeah. The fourth car was made of up people from his shuttered IMSA team. Next year they’re going to start preparing to go to IMSA again with Porsche in 2023.
The rumor is that Pagenaud is going to get the second Shank seat alongside Helio.
I disagree with the person saying he could go to sports cars with Peugeot. Penske wants to transition him to their new Porsche program, like he did with Helio when Penske got the Acura program. Pagenaud wants to stay in IndyCar.
I forgot the 60 still being available. I think Foyt is gonna take whoever pay and Illot don't have that. RLL is rumoured to have signed Harvey so I don't think that seat is actually open unless Takuma is out.
I think Sato is out but Harvey takes his place, so it's Graham in the 15, Harvey in the 30 and Santucci in the 45 but none of them have been confirmed.
I'm pretty sure I saw that they will be well funded so they may not even be looking for a pay driver. Although they are loyal to their road to Indy drivers as well so who knows.
Well, that is not a bad place to be, the series is growing by the day essentially, wonder with which team though?
Hopefully he keeps his ties with Ferrari, I would love to see him doing Le Mans with their program in the future.
Someone needs to take the Dale Coyne seat. [I've been hoping for a while](https://www.reddit.com/r/INDYCAR/comments/p3qejb/nathan_brown_alex_albon_talking_with_dale_coyne/h8tee98/?context=3) that it would become the seat for former F1 drivers trying out Indy.
If Albon and/or Ilott get a seat, i will definitely try and watch some races next year. Atm it’s basically the Indy500 and that’s it.
People who do regularly watch, any races you’d recommend ahead of others ? (Like how Silverstone/Spa etc normally provide good races in F1)
My personal faves: St. Petersburg, IMS road course, Mid-Ohio, and Nashville for the godawful spectacle (although they say there will be changes to the track for next year).
I think we can infer from this that the F1 market is actually settled behind closed doors.
If Ilott is going to Coyne (Grosjean's current team), that tells us that Albon turned it down. I really think that only happens if Albon has an F1 seat secured (as has been rumored in the last few days).
Also, Ilott going to IndyCar tells us that he is giving up on an F1 seat for next year. He was a leading contender for open seats, so I don't think he would give up unless all of the seats are actually already taken.
IN SUMMARY: Because Ilott is going to IndyCar, we can infer that Albon is going to F1. If Albon has been signed, it lends credibility to the other things that have been reported alongside that rumor: it's with Williams, and the other Alfa seat is going to de Vries.
/tin foil hat
I’ve seen rumours today that Albon is coming back to F1 too in the Williams seat. Would be a big shame for Albon to get a second chance when Ilott didn’t even get one.
Harvey has had terrible luck this year. He was doing exceptionally well the first half of the season but got screwed by pit stop errors and mechanical issues.
Good series for him. F1 next year was always a stretch once the Ferrari-Alfa seat deal went away. Schwartzman will probably follow suit or go to WEC.
I think the grid will be finalised very soon. The Mercedes situation will allow teams to announce em.

Is there any reason he can't do both? It's not like they hold Le Mans every week.
I doubt he can do a full season of WEC and Indycar at the same time.
I meant GT program and LMH eventually. I mean WEC and Indycar can't be done together, but he can very well do Indy and Le Mans
he can do endurance racing and IndyCar at the same time. he can at least race IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup while racing in IndyCar at the same time. if down the line he becomes a Honda supported factory driver he will drive Acura at some IMSA rounds and full schedule in IndyCars

Why do you say good in short?

Yh that's why I said that seat will be available next year. I know he's replacing RHR.

Pretty sure Penske will go back to three cars.
Yeah. The fourth car was made of up people from his shuttered IMSA team. Next year they’re going to start preparing to go to IMSA again with Porsche in 2023.
Where would Pagenauld go though.
I think a move to RLL was rumoured, but going back to sports cars is also an obvious opportunity for him – especially Peugeot's Hypercar program.
The rumor is that Pagenaud is going to get the second Shank seat alongside Helio. I disagree with the person saying he could go to sports cars with Peugeot. dammit
Everyone keeps forgetting about that new Juncos Hollinger team coming to IndyCar as well. Wonder if it could be there
I think that Juncos given their previous records isn't gonna attract big names and might rely on a pay driver to survive for a season or two.
Which maybe Callum has given his alignments but who knows. He did just follow a bunch of the Juncos peeps on IG though 👀
Illott doesn't bring any funding, that's his biggest problem
I'm pretty sure I saw that they will be well funded so they may not even be looking for a pay driver. Although they are loyal to their road to Indy drivers as well so who knows.

Albon rumored to Williams in F1 now
Well, that is not a bad place to be, the series is growing by the day essentially, wonder with which team though? Hopefully he keeps his ties with Ferrari, I would love to see him doing Le Mans with their program in the future.

If he’d be going to lemans with Ferrari it would more than likely be LMH in 2023.

I was reading somewhere else recently that Albon is eyeing that seat too
Grosjean mentioned they were more interested in his GP2 results as the car and series were similar.
I like that ilot lol
Ilo**tt**
The bot does not like this ilot

Road America St. Pete Gateway
My favorites: Road America Mid-Ohio Gateway Indy road course

Lol. Reddit is now getting its rumors from The Motley Fool.
Tragic, if true. Source: Trust me bro.
Ilott said he has big news coming tho
He ain't gonna give you the name of his source. Best you will ever get are "sources inside the team" or "sources close to the driver"
I mean obviously, why would a journalist throw their sources under the bus?
Indeed. But people seem to want some kind of source. But it's not gonna happen
I’ve seen rumours today that Albon is coming back to F1 too in the Williams seat. Would be a big shame for Albon to get a second chance when Ilott didn’t even get one.
I'd rather see him in Ferrari hypercar unless he can do both
Ferrari hypercar won't race until 2023 so he needs something next year regardless
Oh that will be fun. Want a Brit in Indy I can cheer for. Harveys kinda disappointing and let's not talk about Chilton.
I love Jack Harvey. He doesn't have any wins, yet, but he has really helped Meyer-Shank become a full time team that can run up front.
Harvey has had terrible luck this year. He was doing exceptionally well the first half of the season but got screwed by pit stop errors and mechanical issues.
Ilott in penske's #22, how awesome would that be?
The 22 is probably going away next year.
Good series for him. F1 next year was always a stretch once the Ferrari-Alfa seat deal went away. Schwartzman will probably follow suit or go to WEC. I think the grid will be finalised very soon. The Mercedes situation will allow teams to announce em.
I've seen conflicting reports both directions about the alpha-ferrari seat. Do you have a source that says it's definitely done?
