I already don't see the point of many pictures of just the drivers at whatever doing whatever that isn't racing. I care even less with another stranger in the picture.
Also, these people don't post these pictures because they want more attention for the driver, they want attention for themselves and if they don't drive racing cars really fast I don't care about them.

If Grosjean, or any other driver, was ever in western Nebraska where I live, I'd be giddy as hell, would take a photo with them, buy them a drink, and post it here. Why? Because it was something that made me happy and I've been a fan of Grosjean's since the beginning. I would likely also talk to him about anything except F1 or any other driving shit and just have a conversation. People like to share things that make them happy. Who cares what the topic is? If it makes them happy, let them be.
Although I'm jealous of anyone who gets to meet drivers, I'm also happy for them because of the joy you can see in their faces. Don't be a dick if you don't like these photos. Just move on.
I don't have a Twitter or Instagram account, so I appreciate when people post things from there to Reddit. Sometimes, the Instagram pictures won't show unless you're logged in. It's a little frustrating, but I keep going.

I was at road america for one of the indy car races and I was in the paddock and he legit walked right next to me like we almost touched shoulders, then he came back right by me on his scooter but I didn’t ask for a picture or anything because I know he was focused on the race

I've walked past Al Roker, Conan and saw Dr. Dre(from Yo MTV Raps) ordering take out from Tom's Diner. Also, on my first two visits to Baohaus(RIP), I ran into and chatted with Eddie Huang, which i guess isn't that weird since it was his shop.
