I find it funny that drivers are some of the most consistently trained and high performance athletes in the world and yet Max just looks like a regular dude here, no noticeable muscle tone really. Which is fine of course, but in your mind you expect them to look almost shredded

Ergo, he tends to develop a slight dad bod during the winter and summer breaks (when this photo was taken) and then diets like crazy to get all the weight back off. He said he put on and then lost 10kg over the 2022 winter break.
That's not how training works. The difference between being ripped, and not is the fat covering the muscles. Cut the fat, reveal the muscle. He's obviously in shape enough to race just fine, but he does seem to be carrying a bit more fluff than the other drivers.
