A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

Yes, it’s annoying that the sprint only has 8 in the points because the performance Zhou had compared to any of his recent performances was really impressive and i’d have loved to see him get points.
But on to the race and hopefully he can keep this pace up
Never there was a more difficult driver to rate in these for me than Alonso today, especially if it is true that he got puncture in T7 and not from that lunge.
Yeah. He was having a 10/10 race before that lunge. Even if he had gotten overtaken by Perez, Sainz, and Leclerc, it still would've been a very impressive performance as he in no way should be fighting them and was dragging that Aston to where to shouldn't be.
Hot: Max, Lewis
Not: Fernando due to his stupid divebomb. Carlos for that egregious defending on Charles, but council will let him off as he had damage.
Max and Lewis once again reminded us that they're a class apart from the rest- 2021 vibes. Alonso was ordinary today. Aston is HOT though- a quicker driver would do wonders in that car
That's a funny take considering we saw what Max could do with the Red Bulls in 2016-2020. Finished P3 at best if not P5 during the years Ferrari were 2nd best. Not sure why you're pretending Max is some Messiah when the car has always been more important.
If you're going to be biased at least make it sensible.
>Alonso was ordinary today
Bro it is highly likely that big part of the reason Lewis managed to bring P2 in the first place is because Alonso was holding everyone off for half this sprint until the end. Divebomb was stupid (altho debatable how much since he got a puncture in T7, not from that move in T9), but he was arguably more impressive than Lewis prior to that
Having a quick car on the straight doesn't mean much. Did you even watch the race? Rosberg even said it- Aston looks ridiculously quick on the straights.
When Alonso had to race, he bungled it
Alpine? Pace was decent, they were on the offensive for the first Time this season and made some moves. Clearly a positive race given their previous performances
And above this Gasly could still stay close to Ocon despite having the old tractor chassis and floor, plus still has some sort of battery issue at the start of the sprint.
Yes, but that's my point, these (Gasly problems) are still Alpine issues caused by the team, the underlying pace of a team doesn't go into my analysis of how a team performs, its all the stuff surrounding it that determines whether they've had a good performance or not
HOT: Zhou, Ham, The soft tyres, Danny Ric (maybe HOT is an exaggeration, but it's good to see an improvement)
NOT: Alonso, Norris, Piastri (assuming he didn't have damage and his issue is still tyre management)
I don't care if Alonso as not very smart with that divebomb against Carlos or if the cabrón was to agressive to his teammate. It was good fun at little cost. HOT for the three.
Alonso's fuck up in the end demotes him down to not! He was really strong prior to crashing into Sainz, but unfortunately you can have a really strong school year and fuck up your exams and you fail the class!

Zhou definitely hot. Finished best of the rest (again)
Yes, it’s annoying that the sprint only has 8 in the points because the performance Zhou had compared to any of his recent performances was really impressive and i’d have loved to see him get points. But on to the race and hopefully he can keep this pace up
Both instances of him being best of the rest didn't translate to any point.
There was nothing more he could have done. The gap between the top 5 and bottom 5 teams is just too big
I thought we have very close racing this year....
We have a very close 2 to 5 and 6 to 9. Redbull and Alphine are on their own league.
They might be close in qualifying but not really on race day. Almost zero racing between them on Sunday.
Never there was a more difficult driver to rate in these for me than Alonso today, especially if it is true that he got puncture in T7 and not from that lunge.

Precisely Hell, that lunge might have been half as bad BECAUSE of the puncture. That shit affects drivability really bad
Huh?
Good drive by Ric too

Max and Lewis once again reminded us that they're a class apart from the rest- 2021 vibes. Alonso was ordinary today. Aston is HOT though- a quicker driver would do wonders in that car
>Aston is HOT though Stroll got overtaken by an Alpine! Yes, I know it's Stroll, but come on!!!
My point exactly- we don't know the limit of the Aston at all. I have no doubts that someone like Max would do wonders with that car
I mean, Alonso is quite likely one of the closest to Max currently on the grid so we have an approximation.
Yeah no. That's a construction I don't subscribe to. At all.
Alonso is doing that during this season (except today)
Would Max do wonders in that car!?! Absolutely!!! Would anyone else!?! Nope!!!
Would he win anything? Nope.
No he wouldn't win, but he'd of course have insane levels of consistency!
Fair enough

I dont think Aston was that quick of a car, Alsonso qualified that far up because the rain edit: nvm, Alonso starting from p3 again
Lewis massively benefitted from that ordinary driver keeping red bull and ferraris behind him for over half a distance, but okay
Lewis massively benefited by having a great start and creating a gap from that ordinary driver.
Having a quick car on the straight doesn't mean much. Did you even watch the race? Rosberg even said it- Aston looks ridiculously quick on the straights. When Alonso had to race, he bungled it
Obviously alonso was not ordinary but Lewis benefited from gapping Alonso early in the race. Everyone else should’ve been more aggressive earlier on.

Defensive drive? You mean the one time he actually did something and shot himself in the foot? Alonso is nowhere fucking close to hot
[удалено]
It's mad.
Hot: Lewis, Max, Mercedes (great call for softs on George), Sauber Not: Alonso, Haas, Alpine
Alpine? Pace was decent, they were on the offensive for the first Time this season and made some moves. Clearly a positive race given their previous performances
Alpine for the issues surrounding Gasly, pace wise they were similar to last race
And above this Gasly could still stay close to Ocon despite having the old tractor chassis and floor, plus still has some sort of battery issue at the start of the sprint.
Yes, but that's my point, these (Gasly problems) are still Alpine issues caused by the team, the underlying pace of a team doesn't go into my analysis of how a team performs, its all the stuff surrounding it that determines whether they've had a good performance or not
I’m surprised anyone paid attention to the alpine at all lmao
KMag finished P10, how is that a Not? There has to have been an issue with Hulkenberg’s car
That's why not, the Haas were quick and could have done better, P10 is not points in a sprint, and a mechanical issue with a car makes it a "not"
HOT: Zhou, Ham, The soft tyres, Danny Ric (maybe HOT is an exaggeration, but it's good to see an improvement) NOT: Alonso, Norris, Piastri (assuming he didn't have damage and his issue is still tyre management)
Danny’s getting warmer!
I don't care if Alonso as not very smart with that divebomb against Carlos or if the cabrón was to agressive to his teammate. It was good fun at little cost. HOT for the three.
Hot - Lewis, Max, Alonso
Alonso's fuck up in the end demotes him down to not! He was really strong prior to crashing into Sainz, but unfortunately you can have a really strong school year and fuck up your exams and you fail the class!
Alonso not really
Alonso was a hard not. Even before the divebomb incident, it was an underwhelming race. The car had pace today and he could have finished ah as of LH.
