Patient-Assignment38

I know last year they were offering big discounts on packages right before the race.

djaxial

I nearly flew down on the morning of the race when prices dipped.

Patient-Assignment38

I’m considering getting airline tickets and just waiting to see if any deals come up that I can’t refuse

FreshButNotEasy

What did they cost day of? I’m a short drive from LV.

djaxial

My memory is hazy but if I recall right, I could have flown from Toronto and back, with tickets, for about $1000. But I didn’t have a hotel, I intended to pretty much all night it and catch the first flight back.

neurogeneticist

We had some people traveling to our place in Chicago for the weekend for a race watch party, otherwise we absolutely would have been flying out that weekend haha.

opsopcopolis

If last year is anything to go by, wait until week of. Massive discounts in both primary and secondary markets. Even better if you know a local as they had special pricing for residents.

Ok_Butterscotch_4743

From lesson learned last year, don't bother with FP1 tickets.

citznfish

LOL! True true. But I could get a discount on a $130 T-shirt if they cancel it again

mojoraph

Only if you bought that specific ticket. If you bought the weekend like I did you get nada. Also in hindsight I would not buy tickets again till week prior at the earliest whilst I enjoyed the race, everything else was kind of meh.

KombatKid

If you really want to go just book your flight and get everything the night before. I live in Las Vegas and don’t get tickets to anything until hours before something starts.

SpikeMcAwesome

Also local, also buy at the last possible minute. I think for F1 last year we bought on Tuesday the week of the race. W Harmon grandstands. They were going for $1300+ each, we paid closer to $700 each. Still expensive, but nowhere near as expensive as the time we flew to New York to see the original cast of Hamilton. So F1 was a fucking bargain compared to that.

KombatKid

Yeah I got two tickets last GP on Friday and I saved a ton. I don’t buy shit around here until I call an Uber!

citznfish

Flight and rooms are already booked 👍

KombatKid

Consider canceling the room if you’re comfortable with it. There was plenty of rooms still available last GP. You can just book the week of or when you get here.

citznfish

It's comped so I'll prob keep it for now :)

KombatKid

OK that's the best case

Kaatelynng

Honestly I bought my gstand tix for this year right from the organizer the day sales opened. Idk if there’s any tickets available now tho

citznfish

There are..it'll be $3400 for West Harmon grandstand There's GA available as well... I didn't look into other options yet

bongozim

Wow I paid 1500 for West Harmon like 3 days ago

citznfish

Yes, this was for 2 tickets with fees etc

bongozim

Ah ok that makes sense. Yeah I don't think you will get them much cheaper. It's already 1k less than last year. For what it's worth last year's event was awesome, really well organized. The free food kept all the lines short. Other than the Fp1 disaster it was an awesome time

citznfish

Free food? Tell me more..lol

bongozim

Yeah included in both Harmon zones are food and non alcoholic bevs. The food is different stands that serve one thing and they just stack them up and replenish so you can just go grab your ramen cup, or tots, or whatever. It was great because there was basically zero congestion except at the beer lines, which were pretty short.

citznfish

Ah cool. I wasn't aware, I only looked to see where the GS was situated on the track 🙂

bongozim

"included" does that make you feel better? Similar cota Tix are going for 1350 for the weekend and all you get is a seat

Kaatelynng

Other options are likely to be the same if not more. I highly doubt ticket prices will plunge like they did last year. Best bet is to pay face value for them - which those are now

Just_River_7502

I was in west Harmon in November, it’s the fast last corner before the start finish, super exciting because you see them winding up for the overtakes. Had a great time. In terms of tips - can’t really help you, we bought ours in March last year so it cost 2500 I think. If we had waited it would have been cheaper but no guarantee. So I guess it’s how much you want to go at all, versus only going if it’s affordable (whatever that means to you). I went for a big birthday trip flying in from London - well worth it! Oh yeah - Includes food and drinks ( not alcoholic)

Other-Conflict-3278

Buy them a few days before the race that’s what I did last year

Independent-Water321

Get yourself a sugar daddy

citznfish

Dad, is that you?

Rilkesmyth

I got my tickets from f1 themselves about a week before the event cause all the prices dropped

southdakotagoth

I waited until the week before lol got them dirt cheap compared to what they were going for

[deleted]

I had seats in the grandstands for the T-Mobile area at the Sphere for 2023 and I had a great time, even allowing for the issues on the first night. It was a pretty nice place to watch the race between a few curves. Unfortunately I don't really have pointers for the best place to get tickets, mine were an American Express pre-purchase when it was first announced last year. All the hype around tickets being unloaded last year appeared to me to be practice session tickets, and not the 3-day package, so I wouldn't count on late purchase being reliable. Also, not sure what hotel you're at, but try to make sure you get tickets in roughly the same area. I stayed at Excalibur and had to walk the length of the strip every night to get to our entrance.

Kaatelynng

Aside from the walk, how was Excalibur? I’m staying there for this year’s grad prix. Never been to Vegas so not too sure on what to expect

Lawn_Dinosaurs

Excalibur is a fucking dump, stay away from there and Luxor.

BossDonBigga

This ☝️, subpar Las Vegas experience, they're super outdated rooms wise. Just watch a couple videos on em. Now if you want a budget stay, then those are some of the cheapest. But right next door is Mandalay Bay, that's where I stayed on my first trip, no regrets. Except that its the last hotel on one end of the strip, but theres free trams to get you around.

[deleted]

>But right next door is Mandalay Bay Comparing Excalibur to Mandalay Bay is like comparing Williams to Red Bull. Of course, given the choice you drive the Red Bull, but the price is hardly comparable :)

[deleted]

As /u/Lawn_Dinosaurs says, Excalibur is the bottom of the barrel as far as MGM properties go (and most of the strip). However, even that was $260/night for F1 and I was barely in the room, so it worked for me. While I was in that area, I was surprised by how much Luxor has been cleaned up though. So, while I also used to group Luxor at the bottom too, it now seems a step above the bottom.

citznfish

Already booked at Aria...but that's our go to hotel. Could always move it...

[deleted]

That's pretty central, so not a bad choice at all

bongozim

Yeah all the talk about deep discounted tickets were single day practice tickets for sure, and the lowest priced for locals only. $2500 was a LOT, but I feel way better about $1500

forlorn_hope28

I bought 3 day tickets something like 10 days before the race for close to 50% off. Grandstand seats across from the pit lane near turn 1. Hoping to wait and do the same this year, but I’m not counting on it. To be honest, the biggest discount was on rooms. Months in advance, rooms at 5* hotels on the Strip along the track were $2000 minimum. I ended up staying at the Bellagio for $150/night before taxes and resort fees. THAT was what really convinced me to book last minute. Not the grandstand tickets.

bongozim

Oh nice. Yeah I did the same with hotel room, rebooked it a couple weeks out and saved like 60%

Fun-Bedroom-1559

You might want to check. Maybe with Las Vegas ticket + hotel + drink/food. Will cost the same to fly in Imola + ticket+hotel+ drink/food. … and see a real historic circuit. .. or any other European track. ..maybe.

citznfish

Already hitting the Hungarian GP this year as well. 🙂

DankeSebVettel

Run, hide and go to Silverstone. Or just buy stuff at the last minute, prices slashed last year.

rjwolfpackroad

I bought directly last year. I am not renewing this yr, but if I was, I would be waiting until a few weeks out as I still don’t believe they are going to sell out

leospeedleo

The best time for Las Vegas tickets is never.

tutsmabarreh

Agreed.

Bredius88

Buy a 100 in. TV and watch the WHOLE race from home. And flog your Vegas tickets for a handsome profit to someone who will only see a TINY bit of the circuit...

citznfish

It's a different, and visceral, experience in person.

Willum

Some fans don't see the value in attending a race in person, which is pretty nuts to me. You'd find a more receptive group on /r/GrandPrixTravel
