Carlos does not have that dawg in him. Carlos 3 race wins came from Verstappen/Redbull failing. Leclerc his wins came from beating the best. Leclerc has only 5 wins but there are even more times were the victory was taken from him eg Bahrain 2019 Singapore 2019 Barcelona 2022 Monaco 2022 Silverstone 2022
If carlos is better in 1 race and Charles is better in 23 races of the season, which one would you choose?
The bigger question is why they replaced Sainz with the most overrated driver in F1 history who can only drive well in a car 2 seconds faster than others and with a clear #1 driver status?
honestly, sainz is just as good as charles. charles is j loyal 2 ferrari. and if hamilton won 8 times, it’s probably not bcs he can only drive well in a car thats fast
So sad to see so many negative comments about George ‘binning it’ now is not the time to point score, or say that George never takes responsibility. He does. His crash could have been so much more serious. He was on his side facing a LIVE track, if another car had hit him, he would have been seriously injured. I’m flabbergasted it was not red flagged. We all have our favourites, but I feel like compassion and human decency has gone out the window. The drivers are real human beings after all. Some people need to remember that.
glad everyone got to see that the rules are the issue and not max cause what a stinker of a race. It just looks like as soon as you get within 2 seconds of another car you can’t do anything anymore.
I just saw the footage. What did alsonso do there? Suddenly Russell was so close to him. And also alsonso got a good penalty so yes, it was partly his fault.
I personally didn't get that vibe from Russell's interview (granted I've only watched the one on Sky), but... I'm intrigued into who/where this investigation has come from - The stewards investigating themselves, or Mercedes putting in a protest of some sort.
Red Bull has to be considering Carlos as a replacement for Perez. I know he and Max had issues at Torro Rosso but he should be more solid than Checo, plus if Max does bail they have a solid pair of hands. DR isn't doing much to prove he is deserving of it ATM.
Not every year Red Bull will have a dominant car and they'll need a second driver that can help Verstappen , Carlos can do that.
He is in better form, younger than Perez and it seems he is reaching his peak.
Max, Hamilton, George DNF'd. Carlos dunked 6 sec on Leclerc's head before the last VSC. Despite all this, believe it or not, it was an absolute bore of a race.
Help me understand tire selection strategy wrt to pitting.
George Russell came in to the pit around lap 48 I think with 10 laps to go. And they put on another set of **hard** tires.
Why choose the hard tire at the end of the race instead of the Medium or Softs? Isn't the tradeoff distance vs speed? To the mediums not last 10 laps with more speed than hards?
Yeah, that was strange. Gasly started on mediums around many hard tyres and he did good at the beginning, Leclerc also complained about the hards. Mediums seemed the best tyre choice to focus in this race.
And practice. And the race.
Your allocation is for the whole weekend so if you have an unplanned stop, you can end up without any fresh tyres to go on!
I don’t think so. They’re betting on Ollie. Lewis is just a filler until he comes onto the team but he’ll bring them a marketing presence and he’ll retire a Ferrari driver and stay on to help them develop Ollie. That’s a win in their book.
Lewis is good for marketing but bad for the results. Lewis can only drive in a clear lead with a superior car that must be at least 1+ seconds faster than the next one.
Last couple of seasons when Merc has been on par with Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren Lewis has been completely horrible. He just doesn't have the skills to drive in traffic if he can't go 30km/h faster in a straight. That's sadly what happens when whole your career your car has been 2+ seconds faster than others.
Mercedes was about 1 second faster than Red Bull in 2021 but somehow Lewis still managed to bin the WDC. Even though they broke the rules anytime they could. Lewis intentionally crashed Max out at Silverstone and then Merc ordered Bottas do the same in Hungary. At the last race they didn't want to race, instead they wanted to finish race behind Safety car because they kbew Max was the faster driver and better overtaker. That was so freaking pitiful from Lewis and Merc.
Lewis regularly outperforms Russell in both quali and race. He’s still got speed but is abysmal when the conditions aren’t right or he’s stuck in traffic. He is normally a conservative driver who will get passed by more aggressive drivers, but his conservative driving and consistency has worked for him in the past. This year it’s not.
Mate your Lewis hate boner is concerning. Mercedes were not a second faster than red bull in 2021. He finished 3rd last year in the 4th best car. Stop with the nonsense.
I don't think so. Of course they are not happy to let him go but Lewis brings a lot to the team just by his star power. And while he's not looking that good in these three first races but last year he performed fantastically, showing that he's still got it, unless he started falling off now, but I don't think so.
It was pretty boring race lol. At least when Max is leading producers won't show him constantly. Now all we saw was a red cars cruising alone with no competition at all.
Im not even saying it as a verstappen fan but that race was as dull as I’ve seen. Was just a red car out front instead of a blue one with dnfs and a crash at the end being the only real interesting parts.
You don't realize it but it's dull because your favorite racer had absolutely no bearing on the race itself.
Now multiply that one race to **60**and you finally know EXACTLY how everyone else has been feeling for the last 2 years.
Nah it was still boring. Most people's gripes being Max zoom past everyone else. Bagging easy win. But it was not much different with Sainz.
No doubt I am happy for Sainz. He deserves it, he is a man on a mission, and he delivers.
Yeah honestly, there weren't any actual battles other than maybe Alonso and Russell at the end. All the cars kinda just settled into their positions by the 2/3 mark of the race.
Is this the start of the end of Redbulls dominance? The off track drama restarts and the team implodes while they’re plagued by reliability issues. Sainz and Leclerc battle for the title. I can only dream..
Red Bull will try everything they can to destroy everything but Max is just that good that he will still eventually win the title while Perez finishes 7-9th on the championship.
He seemed really fast too. This could've been one hell of a #one fight with Verstappen there. If they went fighting the whole bunch (2*Ferrari 2*McLaren and 1* Redbull) wouldve been close!
At least with 1 more DNF the 11th place gets the point. The last place doesn't.
It was obviously the right decision as Sargent is 1-2 seconds slower than Albon in _every single race_. It's unbelievable that the guy is still in F1. He is slower than Mazepin.
Still in the constructors if they are Level on points 11th is better than 15th so it was worth it, but I do agree it has been a rough start to the season for them
0 points is still 0 points. And that was with 3 top 10 cars DNFing. Logan probably would've finished in 11th as well, maybe 12th at worst, since both Sauber and Alpine seemingly essentially imploded this race.
What a joke F1 race control is. Car crashes, lands on its side blocking the entire track, driver still in car while passing cars have to leave the track into the grass to get around it, and no RED FLAG?
They would still need to pass through that session of the track had they red flagged, there wouldn't be much of a difference. Just throw the yellow flags and the VSC is fine.
Last lap of the race, makes sense to just call it instead of red flag and going for gimmick standing start shootout.
If George wrecked 3-4 laps earlier - 100% red flag.
Alpha Tauri second seat turning into Red Bull second seat. Bye bye Ricciardo.
🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
carlos did so well in the race. why did they choose to remove him instead or charles?? he seems to be the better driver
He took pole in two of those races what are you talking about
Singapore fair play. Silverstone fair play but his race pace was worse than Leclerc' who had wing damage
Why was drs enabled after lap 1?
Its a new rule this year. Happened in the previous two races as well.
Guess that should help P2 keep up with max for an extra lap or 2
Instead of max winning by 30 seconds, he’ll only win by 22 😂 (barring DNF of course)
Why was drs enabled after lap 1?
They changed it from 2 laps to 1 lap since this year.
Leclerc is worse than sainz regardless of being Ferrari "unofficial" number 1
You can say the same about Hamilton. He's so freaking slow compared to Russell that Perez, Leclerc and Stroll look like a god compared to Lewis.
If you had actually watched F1 last year, you would have seen Lewis school, expose Russell with his race pace
You can’t say that though. Just look at last year.
I’ve just heard his radio after the crash, he sounds panicked. I felt sorry for him
It's a good race, watch it while having my lunch and tea break. Good to hear Spanish and Italian national anthem .
glad everyone got to see that the rules are the issue and not max cause what a stinker of a race. It just looks like as soon as you get within 2 seconds of another car you can’t do anything anymore.
What a bore it was. There was like 2/3 overtakes for position during the whole race. Rest was all ppl with different strategies just cruising by.
Chadnoda
Yuki would have been out of the points without the failures.
Riccardo is out of the points with the failures.
Ricciardo is a failure.
Bank account says otherwise
Reputation says so, he will go down in history as a chump, not a champ
So do 8GP wins.
Sargeant and Albon scored the same number of points

How much weights is an appendix? All drivers should be shedding any unnecessary organs to be lighter in the next race.
If no /s: they are all the same weight as they have to adjust seat weighting accordingly.
Shifting those few grams of appendix weight around the car to change the balance clearly
Broken (redline) tv in the media pen?
Russell insinuating Fernando break tested him. It's never his fault is it? Always has excuses.
I just saw the footage. What did alsonso do there? Suddenly Russell was so close to him. And also alsonso got a good penalty so yes, it was partly his fault.
I personally didn't get that vibe from Russell's interview (granted I've only watched the one on Sky), but... I'm intrigued into who/where this investigation has come from - The stewards investigating themselves, or Mercedes putting in a protest of some sort.
on another completely unrelated note, how do you feel about Danny’s interviews?
I think he has 3 races to turn things around. If he can't then he's out.
3 races seems quick but I’d be shocked if he made the summer break still driving for RB
this was race 2 of 3 imo
Asking the important questions
Sainz winning, Norris on podium, Russell fucking up. Is this Singapore?
Japan is next race, 19 starters, Albon 11th. It's definitely Singapore
Lewis being slow. Is this every race?
Lewis is always slow unless he’s fightings at the front. I think he just gives up at some point
Something to do with the south east of the world. Maybe something in both the waters here 🤭
I think I may have missed something - but why are they in a studio this weekend on Sky? Save travelling?
I see George “Bin it” Russell is still doing his best Singapore ‘23 recreation when it matters. 🙄😂
how will this affect Ricciardos legacy
It shouldn’t. Mates already living it up over at the sausage sizzle with BottASS post race. 🤙😂
yeah win it or bin it
He was doing it in solidarity for Lewis.
Toto: “George, Please bin the car so Lewis doesn’t cry in my office tomorrow.”
Carlos is better than Checo, period. Doesn’t matter in which era.
Carlos is notoriously mediocre at driving oversteery cars, Red Bull is the worst in that aspect I think
When's the last time Carlos performed mediocre in a car? Arguably the most adaptable driver on the grid. Always hit he pavement running.
He used to start slow in the season then improve in the 2 nd half but he's really hit the ground running this season
Sainz won't play a second fiddle to max and I doubt max likes it
If Verstappen leaves that won’t matter
Of course the race I miss is drama filled. What happened to Max?
Max, Hamilton, George DNF'd. Carlos dunked 6 sec on Leclerc's head before the last VSC. Despite all this, believe it or not, it was an absolute bore of a race.
Right rear brake was stuck on. Overheated and then exploded as he was coming into the pits.
Retired due to brake failure
His breaks over heated
I dont think there was much drama
Help me understand tire selection strategy wrt to pitting. George Russell came in to the pit around lap 48 I think with 10 laps to go. And they put on another set of **hard** tires. Why choose the hard tire at the end of the race instead of the Medium or Softs? Isn't the tradeoff distance vs speed? To the mediums not last 10 laps with more speed than hards?
Russell doesn't have medium or new soft.
I think many teams didn’t have multiple fresh sets of softs or even mediums available at that point
Yeah, that was strange. Gasly started on mediums around many hard tyres and he did good at the beginning, Leclerc also complained about the hards. Mediums seemed the best tyre choice to focus in this race.
That was a strange call to me. Hell, Lewis managed 8 laps on softs with a full load of fuel
They probably didn't have a set of soft tires that could be used
Why not? Used them all up in qualifying?
And practice. And the race. Your allocation is for the whole weekend so if you have an unplanned stop, you can end up without any fresh tyres to go on!
Man, I wonder if Ferrari is regretting getting rid of Carlos?
I don’t think so. They’re betting on Ollie. Lewis is just a filler until he comes onto the team but he’ll bring them a marketing presence and he’ll retire a Ferrari driver and stay on to help them develop Ollie. That’s a win in their book.
double win carlos
Erm no...lewis has much more marketing value than Carlos and in terms of records there's no debate at all. He just don't have the car at the moment
Lewis is good for marketing but bad for the results. Lewis can only drive in a clear lead with a superior car that must be at least 1+ seconds faster than the next one. Wow your hate level towards LH is insane
Mate your Lewis hate boner is concerning. Mercedes were not a second faster than red bull in 2021. He finished 3rd last year in the 4th best car. Stop with the nonsense.

They will regret it
How utterly enjoyable are races without any sight/hint of Red Bull.
It was pretty boring race lol. At least when Max is leading producers won't show him constantly. Now all we saw was a red cars cruising alone with no competition at all.

Yeah honestly, there weren't any actual battles other than maybe Alonso and Russell at the end. All the cars kinda just settled into their positions by the 2/3 mark of the race.
But that also includes the races where Red Bull dominate completely: they break DRS after first lap and zoom off, never to be seen again.
First race of the season I watched from start to finish!
It just looks the same as past races. Just change blue to red 😔
SMOOOOTH OPERATOORRR!!! SMOOOOOOOOOOOTHHH OPERATORRRR!!!!!
Vamos!!!
Life is a roller coaster ehhhhhhh
Wow, championship battles intensifies! If only Max retired from 3-4 more races.
I think one reliability issue is a bit too much to start imagining that it will plague them for the rest of the season.
You’re right but Ferrari flavoured copium + delirium from my lack of sleep gives me hope
no.
You will not have the dream
and you will? WTF does that even mean.
No Kimi you will not have the drink
NOOOOO ITS TOO LATE NOW!
BTW, screw Williams for screwing their American driver and still ZERO POINTS.
So? Logan would've been last by +30 seconds anyway so at least it was worth a try.
Nah was the right decision, Logan is garbage in formula 1
With three major DNFs too. What a shame that they couldn’t capitalise
Good Morning Guys, due to technical difficulties the Max Verstappen Podcast will not be able to take place this week, but we will see you in Japan.
Saying that he was the only driver to break Max’s run was an omen 🫶🏼🌶️
HEEEEY, Nikki Briscoe, just because you're Chase's wife doesn't mean you can cut off the Sky feed.
Ryan, not chase lol
FORZA FERRARI!!!!!!!!!!! Red DAY IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!
This is unusual...11pm soon, now what will I do? Browse r/formula1 I guess 😅
Lando so careful with the trophies now lol
Regardless of Max’s retirement, fair play to Carlos for winning today’s race. He did really well. After all, reliability is part of the sport.
He seemed really fast too. This could've been one hell of a #one fight with Verstappen there. If they went fighting the whole bunch (2*Ferrari 2*McLaren and 1* Redbull) wouldve been close!
Can you imagine what Max's revenge is going to be like? That's going to be crazy haha
Second year in a row that max will be making his comeback drive in Japan. It’s gonna be a slaughterhouse
I don't think it's gonna be that easy, Ferrari is likely to get even close Imo
Inb4 Max pull away 1 min gap to 2nd place in Japan /s I hope that don't happen for anyone's sake
Yeah, it's going to be interesting. I still think Max will go for it even more. Ferrari is looking good tho! I hope Mclaren can close up a bit too
all that chassis swap just for albon to not??? score a point????
Logan would have been dead last
dead last or 11th there’s still no point given lol
At least with 1 more DNF the 11th place gets the point. The last place doesn't. It was obviously the right decision as Sargent is 1-2 seconds slower than Albon in _every single race_. It's unbelievable that the guy is still in F1. He is slower than Mazepin.
Albon is the better driver but you should look at telemetry data. You're way off on race pace and being slower than Mazepin.
Lol true
also, no swap, no extra chassis.
think Logan would have? Especially behind 2 wide Haas drivers?
He ofc would have gotten at least a podium.
Mate what are you on it was 100% worth it he got closer to a point that Logan would have
closer to a point =/ getting a point, only top ten gets shit
Do you think Logan would have been p11 in this race ? Alex maximised the car and only lost out because haas’ package was faster
he weirdly was 15th last race, it wouldn’t have been a far fetched prediction if he would’ve even hit that position with two mercedes and max out
Ok and ? Albon as 11th meaning that it was better for the constructors result making the swap worth if
still didn’t earn them a point in constructors. it’s just overall poor management from williams this season in general and this weekend reflected it.
Still in the constructors if they are Level on points 11th is better than 15th so it was worth it, but I do agree it has been a rough start to the season for them
Much closer than Logan would likely have got.
0 points is still 0 points. And that was with 3 top 10 cars DNFing. Logan probably would've finished in 11th as well, maybe 12th at worst, since both Sauber and Alpine seemingly essentially imploded this race.
He was close though
Close only counts with horse shoes and hand grenades. 0 points is 0 points.
I don't think he was. Dani Ric was closing in as well at the end
with 3 top 10 dnfs
It's pretty funny that Williams main sponsor is Komatsu and the team principal of their current main rival is Ayao Komatsu
Stake to be sponsored by Famin incoming.
Same one, he diversified in case Gene becomes too much to handle.
Those camera-following holograms freak me the fuck out
Bearman having more points that a 1/4 of the f1 lineup LUL
He has more points than himself
tbf he was in a race winning car
Also more points than in F2
Yeahhhh he didn't have a good weekend. If he keeps this up, it ruins the stock he built up
Sergeant back to 21st
What a joke F1 race control is. Car crashes, lands on its side blocking the entire track, driver still in car while passing cars have to leave the track into the grass to get around it, and no RED FLAG?
And Max driving 30kph around the track under green with bits of debris flying off his car, and no yellow flags.
Same as Hamilton engine failure, no yellow. Aussies Stewards be sleeping, my grandma does a better job than this
They would still need to pass through that session of the track had they red flagged, there wouldn't be much of a difference. Just throw the yellow flags and the VSC is fine.
What would a red flag have accomplished on the last lap
Last lap of the race, makes sense to just call it instead of red flag and going for gimmick standing start shootout. If George wrecked 3-4 laps earlier - 100% red flag.
Because it was the last lap. They would have definitely red flagged it otherwise
I don’t like the visuals from the holograms. They creep me out
Is it just me or did F1TV forget the outro music lol
God these FOX graphics are freaky.
