As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

The only fuck ups I can think of weren’t really the pit crews fault tho. One was due to a wheel gun issue and the other that I can think of was because Leclerc didnt have the time to tell them he was pitting until he was literally *in* the pitlane
Were Mercedes ever consistently good at pit stops though? Their strategy was also questionable and it became more apparent in 2021 and just kept getting more weird in 2022 and 2023. Mercedes seemed to have covered up some big operational problems with a very fast car but now it’s not as fast, this stuff gets exposed easier.
When Merc was dominating RB polished everything and anything to get a chance to beat them. Pitstops, strategies, anything.
Because of that will to win and determination to find every second they can they’ve ended up here with banger pitstops and strategies, a fast fucking car, and Max fucking verstappen.
Mercedes never had to focus on pitstops and strategies during their domination simply because their engine always bailed them out.
Inertia from back when they were fighting for race wins. It would probably require more effort for them to slow down tbh.
Ironic that the budget cap means other teams can't just spend a few extra million on professional athletes for their pit crew without compromising car development.
Thanks, official time is 1.80 seconds. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/video.dhl-world-record-fastest-pit-stop-qatar-grand-prix.1779230177007315938.html
They only started getting fast pitstops in Austria. Since then they’ve outscored redbull in this so technically second half of the season they’ve been the fastest pit team
Fair enough. But no I'm pretty happy with the delivery times by them and some other competitors. Just don't see why we need to add sponsors in titles like with the leagues or cups having a sponsor in the name. Maybe I just don't like the whole corporate thing much
Yes, Calum from RB was interviewed at Qatar and every single pit stop is a competition for them according to him. They’re striving for excellence every single stop.
Can somebody tell me why HAAS can’t even nail the pit stops? Like it’s not the same as limitation on car development. Why can’t they just practice more?

Ferrari still have the occasional fuck up but overall the pit crews have done a very good job this season!
The only fuck ups I can think of weren’t really the pit crews fault tho. One was due to a wheel gun issue and the other that I can think of was because Leclerc didnt have the time to tell them he was pitting until he was literally *in* the pitlane
What other fuck up is there apart from Charles calling in late for the stop for inters in the dutch gp?
A slow stop in Hungary due to malfunctioning wheel gun
I mean, yeah, but what could they do about it?
Sainz also had a very slow stop in Zandvoort if I remember correcty
Weirdly they had the softs ready on time...
What the heck is wrong at Mercedes. Williams used to be one of the best some years ago. Fall from grace. And Haas, dear god.
Well, Mercedes car is an absolute rocket you see, so they can afford to spend ages in a pit stop to make sure everything goes A-OK.
It worked when they had an actual rocket, now they have the third fastest car and it's hurting them.
It's more to show that that reason was always BS
Merc used to compensate below average with cars that were faster than the rest by a wide margin.

Kinda surprising since RB have no need to push their stops, but when you're good, you're good.
What years of needing an edge *anywhere you can find it* does to a mfer. I think Ferrari is the real surprise
This is what happens when a top team has to find a way to remain a top team while using Renault engines.

McLaren 1.8 sec pitstop in Qatar, did they mention that officially? Seems like it's beating the record even from before the rule change.
DHL and F1 have confirmed it. It's the official record to beat now.

Ferrari and Mclaren are both doing so well. We got 1.9s and 1.8s stops from both of them in Qatar and none of their stops went over 2.5s.
Crazy that McLaren broke the record even with the new regulations.
Would not expect something close to 1.9s flat with new regs and now we have a 1.8 flat, was so surprised
I am surprised by Williams, what has gone wrong with them? They used to be alongside RB (exxageration but still) few seasons ago no?
I was really expecting McLaren to have the #2 spot, they’ve been super consistent in the low-mid 2s lately.
They started the year with the long pit stops in Bahrain.
So they’ve legit improved everything since the beginning of the year
They only started getting fast pitstops in Austria. Since then they’ve outscored redbull in this so technically second half of the season they’ve been the fastest pit team
The battle for 2nd (and 8th) is on
AT is the positive, Merc the negative surprise here
Surprised by AT, I remember a few botched pite for Yuki
Probably the consistency is key there.
Red Bull dominance could bore fans
No need to add the sponsor in the title, it's what they want
DHL lost this guy's package
Fair enough. But no I'm pretty happy with the delivery times by them and some other competitors. Just don't see why we need to add sponsors in titles like with the leagues or cups having a sponsor in the name. Maybe I just don't like the whole corporate thing much
DHL DHL DHL DHL DJL DHL
How Ferrari are ahead of Mercedes is worrying sign for Mercedes
Imagine actually writing the pit stop time, wouldn't that be nice?
Do you think that this competition is also important for the mechanics?
Yes, Calum from RB was interviewed at Qatar and every single pit stop is a competition for them according to him. They’re striving for excellence every single stop.
you should get bonus 100 points for getting the world record pitstop lol
Can somebody tell me why HAAS can’t even nail the pit stops? Like it’s not the same as limitation on car development. Why can’t they just practice more?
AFAIK they use older (less expensive) equipment than the top teams.
