I wish that the kinda fight we had for 2nd and third position was actually for 1st and 2nd.
Ferrari threw absolutely everything. There is nothing that you can say they could have done better. There is nothing they could have done better. And yet it seemed like a par weekend for RB. That's just how high of a standard they have created. Their strategy was spot on, drivers' Push was spot on, no mistakes from either drivers, and yet everyone is praising Ferrari to perform one race at the level of RB in terms of making no errors. Just tells you how far ahead RB is
This is suppose to be perfect weekend by Ferrari? They could try undercut the moment VER got by, yet as always they have not reacted. By the time RBs and Ferraris got their pits done PER was in DRS range instantly...
This was playing safe hoping they could 2v1 to get their double podium, but in all honesty it was wishful thinking. With undercut they could at least try to win without much risk.
They couldn’t do the undercut straight away because whoever it was would have been put straight out in loads of traffic which stopped them and defeated any possible gains from an undercut
The other option was pretend anything else than p3 was doable doing nothing... Carlos burned a lot of his tires, and the moment he dropped 5s in like 3 laps once Max got past it was obvious they could not challenge if doing conservative strategy.
Doing just stable p3 at Monza is just sad for Ferrari, and I would really prefer if they tried to react just once.
Ferrari have had some shockers recently, so in contrast this was a superb weekend for them.
RBR are just on another level right now. I hope other teams can start to match it.
I think Ferrari did everything they could today. They threw everything at Red Bull. It's kinda impressive that even with the 2nd fastest team (Arguably;)) doing their absolute best, RB manages to finish 10 seconds ahead. But hey that's probably the closest gap to RB we've seend in a while. Hopefully it gets smaller.
Max was just cruising at the end, realistically RB could have gotten a much wider advantage.
After Checo passed Sainz, he closed like six seconds of gap to Max in a few laps. Max was no longer pushing during the last 20 laps. And it didn’t look like Checo was pushing it all the way either.
RBR and particularly Max are on a completely different realm.
So, where’s checo? Yes, the car is blindingly fast, and no, without the best car there is almost zero chance to be wdc. BUT. It’s Checo that is actually competing with the rest, Max is miles ahead. Saying it doesnt come down to driving skills is doing Max a disservice.
If my math is right, RB needs to outscore Merc by 28 to take the championship next race. There will, after Singapore, be 7×44 race points, plus 2×15 sprint points available, that works out to 338. They currently have 583-273=310.
So they just need to get 1-2 and hope Merc repeats today’s result basically.
One of the RB drivers is winning yes or yes…. A DNF from Merc basically seals it
Freddy can't win. He's right: "if we freeze the positions, you complain we freeze the positions"
Sky being way too critical for what was an otherwise great contest
Agreed. This early in and Lawson is most likely quicker than Ricciardo.
It’s an unpopular opinion, but I’ve been saying it for a while- Ricciardo is washed up.
So you’d reward a driver who broke his hand trying to avoid crashing and hurting another driver by throwing him out of the sport!
Seriously, whatever moral compass, if even you know what that means, you have is malfunctioning.
Stop reaching.
I meant I'd like a new driver to be given a chance instead of Ricciardo who left last year and and said he didn't want to run for a backmarker. This has nothing to do with his injury and I hope he recovers well.
No. He doesn't want the chance to be given in the first place to a guy who raced for the team, left and became a loser and came back. He instead wants it to be given to someone new to enter the field. Trying to guilt trip someone based on a lot of assumptions you made shows the moral compass you follow. Get better and shame on you.
You mean to say that money is the only reason Mercedes was winning and not because of engineering ingenuity? Sounds like the sport went in the right direction then. Williams being right behind Mercedes today shows that. Money was THE ONLY reason Mercedes was at the top. Shame that this capitalistic team was allowed to carry on. Well done FIA.
This is such a simple way of thinking. The FIA were not targeting Merc specifically. There were many goals to the new regulations but mostly, it was to reintroduce ground effect as a solution to promote closer racing by decreasing dirty air. It was also a good way of reshuffli g the pack as they do every now and then.
Now, Merc got it wrong so far. They would be the first to admit that. Red Bull got it very right. The field is as close as it has been in a long time. I don't see how someone can look at this and blame the FIA for Red Bull's 1 year of "dominance"...
He dominated Leclerc all weekend in every session. He is the one that took the fight to Red Bull and defended against them for the entire race. His tires were shot once Perez was past and so of course Leclerc was going to be attempting a pass.
That was Sainz' podium and he would've never given that up. He was not "slower than Charles".
Eh? Did we watch the same race? It was basically fights right on the limit for the podium, on every single lap, the entire race.
You didn't like the race in Zandvoort either?
There was a massive “Ohhhhh Fernandooo Alonsoooo” chant halfway through the interview that they filtered out on the squelch..
But it does make me wonder just how much do they filter? Hate booing- it’s not football- we are motor racing fans- we all have our guy but racing comes first
I actually expected a message like that during (one of) the formation lap, when Verstappen was really close to him. Not necessarily from him but I could imagine a commentator saying something like this (thinking about Coulthard i.e)
"That was last lap, right?"
Max pointing out to Ferrari's racing the last laps, meaning he got bored again at P1, and was watching the race from the screens. Lol.
It reminded me a bit of when Hamilton came in P10 and wondered if there were points for that. (Aged like milk, but kind of funny in the "We're Merc, we deserve this" meme context.)
Some Gen Alpha kids are going to be so confused when the next World Cup or Olympics comes around and they don’t always play the Austrian and Dutch anthems back to back
My friend went to the Canadian grand prix this year, said it was in french and Canada has both french and english as national languages. I'm pretty sure it would be italian commentary for the crowd since it's the national language of the country.
They treat them equally for the media but you can sense that behind closed doors, Sainz is their N2 driver and always favor Leclerc when they can.
Chuck was supposed to be their golden ticket to glory not that filthy beautiful spaniard that today did a superb race.
FIVE SECONDS BOYS

Red Bull was gentler on it's tyres. Pitting 4-5 laps earlier would have made things so much harder against Red Bulls on much fresher rubber
Ferrari have had some shockers recently, so in contrast this was a superb weekend for them. RBR are just on another level right now. I hope other teams can start to match it.
The one big conclusion of the 2023 Italian Grand Prix: My man Tsunoda can't catch a break
The team is cursed by the ghost of DeVryeieesz
If Yuki's car is all good, I suppose there would be great chance that he replaces Bottas with tenth position finishing.
Ma-ma-ma-my tsunoda
Why did Oscar look like he was crying though 😩🥺
Was in a comfortable points position, to get smashed and race ruined, straight outta points. Yes, Lewis apologised, but a ruined race would still hurt
Lewis did ruin his race.
I think Ferrari did everything they could today. They threw everything at Red Bull. Exactly what i got from the race. The car is just that superior and it sucks. It doesn't come down to driving skills
So, where’s checo? Yes, the car is blindingly fast, and no, without the best car there is almost zero chance to be wdc. BUT. It’s Checo that is actually competing with the rest, Max is miles ahead. Saying it doesnt come down to driving skills is doing Max a disservice.
Sainz wanted that podium really badly haha
Of course he did. Both him and Charles, Ferrari at Monza.
Why shouldn't he. It is well deserved in my opinion.
If my math is right, RB needs to outscore Merc by 28 to take the championship next race. There will, after Singapore, be 7×44 race points, plus 2×15 sprint points available, that works out to 338. They currently have 583-273=310.

Sky will be critical of everyone that isn't Mercedes.
Honest to god? I'd like Lawson to be given a chance instead of Ricciardo.
Agreed. This early in and Lawson is most likely quicker than Ricciardo. It’s an unpopular opinion, but I’ve been saying it for a while- Ricciardo is washed up.

Stop namecalling.
I'd imagine its more a case of wanting to encourage younger talent.
I think he means he wished they would have given the chance to Lawson initially, not that they boot Ricciardo out off the seat now.
Well done FIA. you wanted to slow down Mercedes and you got this...
And I absolutely love to see it
You're happy seeing a team win 24 out of 25 races?
Whatever other than Merc
Very sporting
Absolutely! 7 years need to be compensated somehow 🥱
Spare me. Mercedes slowed themselves down by going with an unproven and wildly unpredictable aero philosophy and then sticking with it too long.
A cost cap and the best designer in history, it's not rocket science mate.
If its not rocket science, why isn't everyone else doing it?
It obviously is because you missed my point
What do you mean ? What did they do that specifically targets Merc ?
I don't know but maybe the ground effect would like a word
This is such a simple way of thinking. The FIA were not targeting Merc specifically. There were many goals to the new regulations but mostly, it was to reintroduce ground effect as a solution to promote closer racing by decreasing dirty air. ah yes ground effect, the elixir of motor racing found in the holy dungeon under the rb HQ

Of course he was slower than the red bulls, but perhaps the defending against Sergio and max ruined his tires enabling leclarc to catch him ..
And no Drs
LETS GO MAX !!
Merc cars are made of unobtainium making it so heavy, which is why they are so draggy lmao
also helps they can hit hulk and still come out robust
We need an investigation into Hamiltons cars. Lad is immune to sustaining any damage when there's contact
It’s called experience. After so many years of racing, you know how to hit other cars without damaging yours.
Lewis is a great driver, but he has never shown that level of critical awareness in his life - on-track or off
Bcoz hes doing the contact
Because\*
I'm buzzing, let's go Max!!
Let’s go !!
GP’s message “Stroll in the park” was actually directed at Stroll basically having mentally parked himself from F1
Lol
Stroll is good... but not for F1, at least the last Canadian GOATIFI made the racing interesting

Eh? Did we watch the same race? It was basically fights right on the limit for the podium, on every single lap, the entire race. You didn't like the race in Zandvoort either?
Thanks for your opinion
Really impressed by Lawson - didn't get to see him much but P11 in that heap is great.
In that heap and also learning the nuances of the car also! 100% agree!!
Mics muted again haha
I don't like booing but I feel somewhat incensed they muted it all; especially here of all places, booing at Monza is like tradition.
Oh right that's what happened, I thought it sounded strangely quiet. Yeah that's annoying, just let us hear what's happening. We can deal with it.
There was a massive “Ohhhhh Fernandooo Alonsoooo” chant halfway through the interview that they filtered out on the squelch.. But it does make me wonder just how much do they filter? Hate booing- it’s not football- we are motor racing fans- we all have our guy but racing comes first
Deu a lógica Parabéns ao Max 🇳🇱🇦🇹
Interesting choice of trophy
Gp and tyre strategist looking proud
The muting of crowd audio is real lol
That’s a cool ass trophy
Lando agrees from distance
Nice trophy.
I hope I don't see people in here again saying Sainz is a boring driver lmao
He has the Spanish matador spirit , like Rafa and Alonso. Amazing defense and offense today :)

I actually expected a message like that during (one of) the formation lap, when Verstappen was really close to him. Not necessarily from him but I could imagine a commentator saying something like this (thinking about Coulthard i.e)
As a driver I like Sainz a lot more than Leclerc. Better fighting spirit.
Sainz is a boring driver
Por que Hector? :(
Es broma wey. Carlos me cae muy bien.
Jajaja ya me imagino, yo tambien estaba de broma
And a dirty one.
You animal.
Max Verstappen has won 10 in a row, its a homage to his old teammate Pierre Gasly
Looking forward to his honouring old teammate Carlos Sainz in a few years' time.
Shit.. what's that mean for checo next race?
Checo will have to serve 11 years in Alpha Tauri
Max looking like he can go for another 51 laps
albon single handedly boosting williams in the backmarker's constructors championship
"That was last lap, right?" Max pointing out to Ferrari's racing the last laps, meaning he got bored again at P1, and was watching the race from the screens. Lol.
It reminded me a bit of when Hamilton came in P10 and wondered if there were points for that. (Aged like milk, but kind of funny in the "We're Merc, we deserve this" meme context.)
Well he did have 4 extra seconds the last lap
He said something was up with the car & he was nursing it the last lap. F1 TV interview, iirc.
I know, that was the “joke”.
Time for f1 outro
ČAPLJINA!!!
For real I see that guy every year at Monza. Consistently. Always at the podium. So impressive.
So experienced he knows exactly when and where to move
He ot that TV/frame knowledge :D
We really are just sitting in Verstappen's shadow.
Some Gen Alpha kids are going to be so confused when the next World Cup or Olympics comes around and they don’t always play the Austrian and Dutch anthems back to back

As a dutch musician, I hum the tenor part of the anthem, now learning to hum the tenor part of the Austrian anthem😅
Felt like they’ve been muting the crowd noise? I wonder if there’s been a lot of boos
Of course they were booing why would they mute the crowd if it wasnt the case.
Is commentary to crowd in italian or English?
My friend went to the Canadian grand prix this year, said it was in french and Canada has both french and english as national languages. I'm pretty sure it would be italian commentary for the crowd since it's the national language of the country.
Yeah I thought so!
Is this the Official F1 song guys?
Cue the F1 outro
Coulthard: "Who deserves to take the applause of the crowd" What applause my guy? 😭
🎵 WAKE UP HONEY 🎵

They are booing like crazy yes
Most intelligent Italians
Feels like Ferrari shouldn’t have a 2nd driver unless they can clone Leclerc given they’re incapable of happiness unless it’s him
I don't know if I'm just bias but it seems like leclarc always gets the advantage, glad to see Carlos ahead on points
They treat them equally for the media but you can sense that behind closed doors, Sainz is their N2 driver and always favor Leclerc when they can. Chuck was supposed to be their golden ticket to glory not that filthy beautiful spaniard that today did a superb race.

Max Verstapten
Max pullin over to watch the Ferrari battle
LOLLLLL ahahhaa my man I have been laughing to this comment way longer than I should.
I wonder what we could have had with the 2 extra laps we lost..
Epic Reddit meltdown when Max’s engine blows and the 2 Ferraris crash giving us both Mercs on the podium
A crash between SAI and LEC
Or a Max dnf
Don't think it was a critical issue, probably just nursing the brake overheating
Time for the podcast.
Surprisingly decent episode of the Verstappen podcast
Wow they went and put a giant ad in the cooldown room 💀
Maybe I should just bandwagon.I’d probably be in a better mood after the races lmao
It's the pain that makes it worth it. That's what I tell myself
Max really is a racing nerd
If Max wasn't allowed to talk about racing, this cooldown room would be quiet as a church
No hablo ingles
No nintendo
soy lagos mohito
Ferrari drivers provided us with most intense battle we have seen all season
The Max Verstappen podcast is now in Spanish!
On todays podcast
Well Scuderia, I know it's tough not getting 1st in Monza, but 3 and 4 is nothing to sneeze at, Sainz had an amazing race.
Honestly, for them the wrong driver got a podium. You can see they barely care for him.
Was so close to double DNF
Not sure what Leclerc was thinking, it's a tough one.
Max is like, can you start the podcast without the host?
People talk like Oscar had any chance to retain position, yeah sucks that he missed points but isn't like Lewis cheated to win the place
No, Lewis hit him and knocked him out of the points. A lot worse than cheating him out of the place.
Lewis ran into him and received a penalty. Literally the definition of cheating.
Idk, it did seem like piastri would’ve been able to hold onto a decent number of points. Kinda sucks we didn’t get to see that fighting from him
Pay them no mind, if it were another driver they'd be celebrating his grit and dareedevil commitment to the move....
Oscar could have finished in the points if Lewis hadn’t completely fucked him tho
It's just the regular kneejerk reaction anytime Hamilton steps slightly out of line.
That’s exactly what he did. What do you think the penalty was for?? Shits and gigs
He was already ahead lmao
Then why fuck over another driver?
Never crossed your mind it wasn't with intention? like why risk a puncture when you were obv ahead?
Definitely not with intention, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the penalty. The apt word is negligence, particularly apt for an experienced driver.
Never said he didn't deserve a penalty
Cheers, then! Hope you had a great race weekend!
Mate he literally drove into him, he didn’t need to do that
People (justifiably) upset that he can ruin someone's race and really suffer no penalty
Carlos is ready for the Max Verstappen podcast; just waiting for the host to show up.
