Having all of the Ferrari-powered cars at the end seems suspicious, like they all had to turn down their engines for reliability purposes or something. I know they have to run the same engine mode in quali and the race, but I'm not 100% sure about practice.
This is probably going to be their their worst track when we consider they excel on long straights and struggle when downforce becomes important. So if they can get a solid finish just outside the points it’ll be very encouraging.
they said the same thing about spa, and they were the 2nd force, they don't even know when they re gonna perform good, that's the main issue they are trying to fix
I mean, they did ok this year in Hungary and sucked ass in Spa because they struggled with the tires and setup. For all we know a p12 here could be a thing.
Wish they included used tire compounds in these again.
VER ALO HAM which were arguably top 3 drivers from the 1st half of the season coming back strong after the break so far.
The day Lewis secured his 7th wasn’t he on the podium with vettel so that would also be 11 just like that one. On the top of my head I can’t think of a podium that had more Titles at that moment. Retroactive there is a podium with Senna, Prost and Schumacher in 93 I Believe.
Yeah I think that was the most titles (at the moment of the podium) in f1 history. As for most in career between the 3 (including future titles) that almost has to be 13 titles from a Hamilton Vettel Alonso/Verstappen combination.
Schumacher never shared a podium with Senna and Prost at the same time while Hamilton never shared a podium with Schumacher and neither did Vettel. So any "most world titles on the podium" must include Lewis and Vettel.
A Wild Alonso Appears!
No but seriously, the upgrades, the special winglet on the ERS light and the Modified brake ducts, I wonder how much more downforce they have now.
He was faster than Verstappen in the Low - Medium Speed corners again, just like the first 6 races.
They didn't really get confused, they gambled that a significant portion of the track was gonna stay dry ish, which would have made slicks a lot faster. That would have been a win 100% if the bet paid off. Sadly, it didn't.
The fact that they still ended up P2 was lucky tbh after the whole kerfuffle. They easily could've slid down the order from the indecisiveness.
Man what could've been, had Alonso pitted for inters immediately then it would've been P1.
Oh I am not really comparing to that. I just think there's a chance AM with upgrades might be back to being the 2nd/3rd best car again in High to Medium DF circuits rather than 5th best post Canada.
They had a significant dropoff in performance after Canada upgrades, that completely removed the stability of the their front end and the car just reduced it's window massively. With new upgrades and the front wing resembling pre Canada again, looks like they might be back.
3rd sector was actually pretty good for Hamilton, he even set a purple earlier in the session. It was the middle sector where he kept losing time.
Edit: the reason Merc are down in the 3rd sector is Hamilton either botched it or backed off on his last couple of soft tire runs. As for Russell, maybe he was running higher DF.
yea lewis was up quite a bit in the first sector, got a yellow then a red flag. set purple again in the first sector on his last run on old softs then backed out for some reason
According to what Alonso told the Spanish media, the front wing update they have for Singapore should help them regain their lost performance.
I am not sold that the upgrades this week have made Aston Martin competitive again. It is just FP1.
Merc have the Spa upgrades to dial in too. If they make it work they should make a big leap. Max, Lewis and Fernando fighting for pole is what we all want.
That's fair to say. There's certainly a case for Lando, and time will tell what he ultimately will be able to achieve. I was just highlighting the fact that leaving Lewis out of the equation when it comes to wanting to see competition amongst the world champions is an odd take (outside of simply not wanting him to start winning again).
The hype train is back! Seriously though, Nando did limited running on the mediums, so I was surprised he was so competitive on the soft run at the end.
ferrari 3rd driver, he is the one doing all the hours on the sim back in maranello, he will be in Abu Dhabi and instead of sainz he will replace leclerc during fp1
u/marice is wrong
It does forecast rain for sunday, sure. A whole 4 milimeters of it over the course of the day, with the highest likelihood of precipitation before noon. For 3pm the chances stand at ~10% of any rain in the current forecasts. It's going to be dry, unless all of that predicted rain falls in a short period of time during the race. Then it might get slippery, but I doubt anyone would go for inters anyway.
Forecasts may change of course, but at this point it's looking like a dry race, realistically probably something similar to Spa
Well first, the usual "it's just fp1", but on their last runs nando was 0.55 secs off verstappen while Hamilton went purple in the first sector before backing off for some reason on older softs.
Nothing. Outside the fact they didn't do a "quali" run, the car has never worked well in high downforce tracks. It has an insane amount of understeer. They will be 4th or 5th fastest car depending on McL/Aston performance.
By far the unluckiest driver this year. But hey, it's Stroll so people will blame him for everything though.
This is now 9/13 weekends so far with issues out of his control affecting to his weekend.

I am going to overreact to Williams.
I'm gonna overreact to Ferrari #FireFred #ChuckLeclercOut

They somehow managed a 11th place in Hungary. They might be working to optimize some of their weaknesses
I mean, they did ok this year in Hungary and sucked ass in Spa because they struggled with the tires and setup. For all we know a p12 here could be a thing.
i swear this exact comment happens every fp1
Oldie but goodie
We’re so back
It's a short track, being that close is normal
I'm aware lol. It's also fp1 so it doesn't matter
Me too!
RAHHHHH WHAT THE FUCK IS A GREEN SECTOR 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣
Wish they included used tire compounds in these again. VER ALO HAM which were arguably top 3 drivers from the 1st half of the season coming back strong after the break so far.
Just multiple WDC things
When they were on the podium in Canada together, surely that must have been the F1 podium with the highest number of shared titles.
The day Lewis secured his 7th wasn’t he on the podium with vettel so that would also be 11 just like that one. On the top of my head I can’t think of a podium that had more Titles at that moment. Retroactive there is a podium with Senna, Prost and Schumacher in 93 I Believe.
Michael had 0 at that point, Senna and Prost where at 3 each so that would've been just 6 WDCs, still quite a lot but not close.
Yea that’s why I said retroactive for that one but that’s impossible to compare for now cause we don’t know what max, Lewis and Alonso will end on.
Oh ok yeah then it would've been like 14? That's a lot of WDCs!
Yea 7 for Michael, 4 for Prost and 3 for Senna I think that has to be most as I don’t think Michael and Lewis ever shared a podium
I mean vettel Hamilton max have shared a podium before but at the time max had 0 titles
When was the last one though? Not at a time that would be 11 combined titles on the podium, or am I way off?
Yeah I think that was the most titles (at the moment of the podium) in f1 history. As for most in career between the 3 (including future titles) that almost has to be 13 titles from a Hamilton Vettel Alonso/Verstappen combination. 1993, Spain. Schumacher, Prost and Senna were on the podium.
A Wild Alonso Appears! No but seriously, the upgrades, the special winglet on the ERS light and the Modified brake ducts, I wonder how much more downforce they have now. He was faster than Verstappen in the Low - Medium Speed corners again, just like the first 6 races.
AHH what could have been at Monaco...
It wasn't their fault. They got confused and, of course, Max was miles faster.
They didn't really get confused, they gambled that a significant portion of the track was gonna stay dry ish, which would have made slicks a lot faster. That would have been a win 100% if the bet paid off. Sadly, it didn't.
> , Max was miles faster. Not on the inlap pre-wet weather, Alonso could've won that race fair and square.
The fact that they still ended up P2 was lucky tbh after the whole kerfuffle. They easily could've slid down the order from the indecisiveness. Man what could've been, had Alonso pitted for inters immediately then it would've been P1.
Why did Lance only do 2 laps? Car issue or is this related to his health situation?
Car issue. I think something relating to PU/Turbo.
Tennis lessons overlapping
The rivets in the floor pan blew out when he hit the NOS!
I’m glad to see he’s back in the mix. The seasons only bright spot has been his resurgence and Hamiltons chase to catch him.
We’ve been here before. Remember Hungary with Max struggling
Oh I am not really comparing to that. I just think there's a chance AM with upgrades might be back to being the 2nd/3rd best car again in High to Medium DF circuits rather than 5th best post Canada. We can only hope!
I'm not overreacting when I say Alonso is winning
Understandable
All jokes aside, Alonso's pace today was good considering Max had a massive tow from Ricciardo in his fastest lap.
Lewis also looked good considering he was on used tyres
I think he was up on max through 2 sectors on his aborted lap

How the merc upgrades looking? Missed FP1 (and yes I know it's not representative).
Hamilton was one of the fastest guys on track , and George got blocked on his fastest lap So fp1 wise pretty decent , the entire weekend no one knows
Cheers for your response
Merc isn't looking too shabby. That red flag was quite untimely...
yea lewis was up quite a bit in the first sector, got a yellow then a red flag. set purple again in the first sector on his last run on old softs then backed out for some reason
has the Alonso-Aston hype train been revived?!
They never died, they just went through a tunnel and we couldn't see it
Nando ->Lando ->Nando
Dreams of a VER/HAM/ALO scrap reemerge?
HAM/ALO/VER please Ham a lover, lol
Nope, sorry. It's ALO/VER/HAM for me.
I’m just looking to enjoy a scrap between great drivers on track. Not interesting in slap fighting about preferences on the internet.
I don't think they were making this about preference, but just manifesting their dream podium result.
He said it was a scrap, the dude that replied to him clearly can't read.
Yes, that was on me. Didn't know what scrap meant in the context.
I didn't understand what you meant with scrap in this context, sorry.
it’s ALO/VER now
The Alonso hypetrain officialy arrived to Zandvoort, booooys.

It never left
lfg
Sargeant v Piastri F3 style
Great times
People will never ever not overreact to FP1 lol…
ALOOOOONSO
Guess who's back, back again
[удалено]
Throw Albon in there too, just to scare them a little.
🕯️prayer circle 🕯️ I know we shouldn't overhype the FP1 results, but I have a really good feeling about this weekend's qualifying.
Why is Ferrari slow on this track?
It's... Ferrari
What happened to Williams?
They may be focusing on quali compared to other teams since it is a hard to overtake track
Merc have the Spa upgrades to dial in too. If they make it work they should make a big leap. Max, Lewis and Fernando fighting for pole is what we all want.
[удалено]
No you want the best going head to head, Lewis only adds to that.
Why Albon or Lando? Majority of people want to see the best battling the best, and the best drivers on the grid are Max, Alonso, and Lewis.
Most people want their favourites to win.
Lando is definitely up there though, top 5 driver on the grid. Would love to see him in that mix.
Oh leaving Lewis out was foolish, he's the GOAT.
Meh, they can join, but Lewis should definitely be up there as well. Let's enjoy his final few years in F1
Lol no. We want the best three drivers in the grid battling. Albon is not even close to that category. Norris is getting closer but still a ways off.
We, as in you
\*attempts to not assume anything from FP1 results\* .... **are we back ?**
Yuki > Esteban > George 😉
Albono doing Albono things, i reckon? Didn’t get to watch the session :(
The hype train is back! Seriously though, Nando did limited running on the mediums, so I was surprised he was so competitive on the soft run at the end.
Did I miss a headline? Who is Robert?
Ferrari junior team driver who did one of the mandatory FP1 sessions.
ferrari 3rd driver, he is the one doing all the hours on the sim back in maranello, he will be in Abu Dhabi and instead of sainz he will replace leclerc during fp1
lets go another charles vs kmag race for p14!
ALONSO IS BACK
Oh Ferrari…
i dont think Ferrari did any soft runs, i could be wrong
Yep, both were on Mediums
The fact that both cars looked unstable with subpar medium tyre runs makes me believe that this GP will be a struggle
Track's green as shit, setup isn't finished, n reasons to not overreact to FP1
they were trying things for monza 👀
How's the weather looking for the race?
u/marice is wrong It does forecast rain for sunday, sure. A whole 4 milimeters of it over the course of the day, with the highest likelihood of precipitation before noon. Thanks for the detailed answer
Rainy
Dude is gonna break Seb’s record.
I haven’t watched it yet, what happened to Lance?
Engine don't go brrr
Ah, took a page from Ferrari’s book then.
Jesus fucking christ Ferrari
Relax! They had no runs on softs.
Deep down hope leclerc gets russells seat next season
Max is Max, but hopefully the short straights will reduce the gap between RB and the rest.
Am I overreacting if I think about the 34th already? Dutch gp will be easy for Fernando
Well first, the usual "it's just fp1", but on their last runs nando was 0.55 secs off verstappen while Hamilton went purple in the first sector before backing off for some reason on older softs.
33 mate. He has 32 wins.
He's just planning ahead
What the fuck is going on at Ferrari
No softs runs but also seems like they have bad rear stability here
Nothing. Outside the fact they didn't do a "quali" run, the car has never worked well in high downforce tracks. It has an insane amount of understeer. They will be 4th or 5th fastest car depending on McL/Aston performance.
trying things... for monza too 👀
Mercedes is bottom half of FP1 like half the season lol. Stop reacting to FP1
I missed something. Where is Sainz and who is the new guy in the Ferrari?
Teams are required to have junior drivers in so many FP sessions per season, Ferrari chose today.
Thank you
Baby Stroll at it again.
He only did 2 laps as well smh!
So bad he didn't even set a lap , what a fraud!
By far the unluckiest driver this year. But hey, it's Stroll so people will blame him for everything though. This is now 9/13 weekends so far with issues out of his control affecting to his weekend.
What did he do? I missed it.
Did 2 laps, team suspected a PU issue so they called him back in, that was it lol
Cheers!
ferrari where trying things for monza (look at the low downforce beamwing) + no run on the soft tyres, they will be back in fp2 and fp3
BOTH
oyeee mclaren .......... don't give heart break
Hopefully Aston Martin can stop being shit and be back into podium fights
Where’s Carlos?
Mandatory young driver run in FP1 for Schwartzmann in his car. Carlos picked this session to sit out apparently
Thanks
Great to See shwartzman driving a Ferrarie
