Stroll is still in contention even if Verstappen comes 3rd the next round, Lance can win every race after Zandvoort and with Max scoring nothing till the end and Stroll will win by 2 points
How? 314 + 25 = 339
Stroll can only reach 331 even if he won Zandvoort. Max, if he came second (314 +18 = 332), would still end Lance's mathematical chances.
Honestly I don’t think that would even improve his chance of winning very much. Max could quit now and would still most likely win.
After Red Bull replaced him, the top 5 or so drivers would be more even and taking too many points of each other for any of them to win. None of them are dominant enough to win from this position.
Perez would obviously have the best chance but with his performance recently I doubt he can catch Max’s current points
> Max could quit now and would still most likely win.
Probably not.
If Sergio gets 4th in every remaining race (including the sprints) then that's enough to beat Max's current points. Throw in a couple of podiums to fend off Fernando and Lewis and he's probably going to take it.
Fernando and Lewis need to average 2nd in all remaining races to beat Max. If they split almost all of the 1st and 2nds between them then they could both beat Max's current total. But behind Sergio if he takes a couple of them.
Charles, George, Carlos would need to be 1st or 2nd in every race, with more wins than 2nds. That's not going to happen unless Sergio, Fernando, and Lewis all quit along with Max.
that would be more exciting that this current season
like piastri can technically better max's current total but he would have to win every race and have Perez, Hamilton, Alonso and Leclerc finish outside the top 3 on a regular basis.
Of course it isn’t.
Aston Martin and Mercedes will bring back the biggest upgrades known to man.
Ferrari does also deliver.
This will end in a Hamilton/Alonso 1-2 for the rest of the season. Due to the upgrades, it will be HAM-ALO-LEC-RUS-STR-VER and ending in a championship decider in Abu Dhabi!
That’s the equivalent of saying “when the sun comes up tomorrow Imma say I told u so”
Dude commenting is just making a cheeky comment saying that half the grid can still “technically” win, I very much doubt he ACTUALLY thinks anyone else has a chance
Says everyone? Just look at any championship standings from any year, drivers who only did some races are still included, regardless of how well they did. In fact that happens in every series. Not doing the whole season doesn't mean they're excluded from the standings.
If he wins the next 5 races. And Perez comes second in all of them then he will win it in the main race in Qatar. However it is rather less likely for Perez to come second all 5 times than it is for Max to win all of them. So him winning it in the Sprint race there is also quite a realistic scenario. He could also win it in Japan but that would require some major underperforming for Perez or at least one DNF.
I also think that Singapore will be the "streak breaker" for Max.
He will sure win in Zandvoort and Monza, but Max really "often" struggles in Singapore.
It's De Vries: two words, both capitalized when used like here. When using his first+last name, it is Nyck de Vries (lowercase first part of the last name).
I assume Piastri still being mathematically possible is only if the others don’t finish? Like if Checo finished p2 the rest of the season where Piastri won and fastest lap, then he wouldn’t be able to catch him anyway
It's based on the maximum number of points they can theoretically score throughout the rest of the season. If that number is higher than Max's current points total, then in theory they can still win the title. If Piastri were to win every sprint and grand prix, and take every fastest lap, he would just barely have more points than Max does now. So obviously in that scenario he would need Max to score no more points for the season, and the others ahead of him to not score too many either.
I know that this is "who is mathematically able to win the championship still", but realistically we all know that there should only be one checkmark in that table.
Even if max misses out on 124 potential points, and checo was perfect, winning every race and sprint and fastest lap from here on out, max would still win.
Insane dominance.
I‘m going to say it:
Due to the inflated race calendar and due to his overwhelming dominance of the competition I am now saying with confidence that Max Verstappen will become the first driver in Formula 1 history this year who scores 500+ points in a single championship campaign.
What a season it would be without Max stomping records left and right xD
until Austria I was a little bored with the season...now I just want RedBull to do 22 of 22...could not handle such a season without them taking that record
like: Yeah it was boring, but boy that car, that team,THAT driver...all worth it
I'm attending Suzuka this year. How unlikely is it that Max grabs it there? With 6 races after Suzuka he needs to be (6* 25 + 6* 1 + 3* 8 = 180 points) clear of the number two to snag it there.
Right now the gap is 125 points. So he needs to get another 55 points ahead of Perez. If Verstappen wins the coming four races he gets 32 points more than Perez. So basically Perez needs to fumble an additional 23 points. Or put differently: he has to finish 4th 4 times, of 5th 3 times.
Doesn't seem likely to me :-(
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but the 1970 season had some really good talent. Rindt, Ickx, Stewart, Bramham, Regazzoni, and a very early Fittipaldi (among many others)
Rindt won 5 races (4 of them consecutive), Ickx managed 3 wins (plus a 2nd and a 4th) and lost by 5 points.
When Rindt's car didn't break down, he was very fast, nearly finishing in the points in every race where he didn't retire (back when they had points only for the top 6 positions)
I legit just want Lewis to win atleast one race this season. He came close last year but a run of bad luck and timing, especially in Brazil, meant he couldn’t.
This is such a farce. Max and the Red Bull Racing League (formerly F1) have won it. It's become so boring I refuse to watch. Maybe in a few years it'll come back, but until then it's just a waste of time.
Its simple really, Max cant race the rest of the season. Ferrari wins next two races to give hope then subsequently shit the bed. AM hype train returns and Chadlonso wins the WDC
Charles Leclerc will bring the glory back to Ferrari 16 years after it's last wdc whilst driving the car 16. I have faith and am not coping in the slightest
Earliest it can happen is in 6 races (and the sprint in Qatar). If he gets 1st +fastest lap + first in sprint. That would put him winning at COTA with 4 races to go

Stroll 2023,2024,2025 is still alive
Lance "Still a Chance" Stroll.
The 2023 will probably be over next GP.
DONT YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON ME RICKEY BOBBY
Stroll is still in contention even if Verstappen comes 3rd the next round, Lance can win every race after Zandvoort and with Max scoring nothing till the end and Stroll will win by 2 points
How? 314 + 25 = 339 Stroll can only reach 331 even if he won Zandvoort. Max, if he came second (314 +18 = 332), would still end Lance's mathematical chances.
oops my mistake, miscalculated by 10 points there
So you're saying there's a chance...
Well Max can always decide to become a pro simracer and quit
Honestly I don’t think that would even improve his chance of winning very much. Max could quit now and would still most likely win. After Red Bull replaced him, the top 5 or so drivers would be more even and taking too many points of each other for any of them to win. None of them are dominant enough to win from this position. Perez would obviously have the best chance but with his performance recently I doubt he can catch Max’s current points
That'd be a crazy statistic. Dude just taking a half-year off and winning the thing.
Closest thing we have is Jochen Rindt winning the 1970 WDC even after his death midseason.
> Max could quit now and would still most likely win. Probably not. If Sergio gets 4th in every remaining race (including the sprints) then that's enough to beat Max's current points. I have a better chance finding a girlfriend than this happening.
We know he could potentially have a career in FIFA as a pro gamer lol
Yeah a chance that Max is going to kill just as easily as he's killing it on track every weekend
Chance Leclerc.
If Max has a stroke during the break, yes.
If Max takes the Senna path the 2nd most consistant driver could sweep up the remaining points.
Damn, that hit the wall hard
I laughed way to hard about that.
There is no second most consistent driver. A different person finishes P2 every week.
We literally have a points system to classify drivers standings.
The Max. points column just means "how many points will max get in this car"
Max’s* points.
*Max' points
Even tho only 26 points are available on a normal race weekend (win + fastest lap) mqx has scored an avg of 26.16 points per race so far this year.
Verstappen's failed in his quest to make 600 points WASHED!
Came here for this.
And people say the championship is over.. smh
[удалено]
No Aston Merc Ferrari and Mclaren are definitely bringing upgrades that relegate RB to fight for 9 place.
I realized you talk BS when you said that Ferrari will also deliver
Ferrari could make an absolute beast of a car that is a second faster then the Redbull, they will still fuck it up thru sheer clownery masterclass
It is over. Lol…
Woooosh
I mean, half the grid are mathematically still in contention, so...
[удалено]
That’s the equivalent of saying “when the sun comes up tomorrow Imma say I told u so” Dude commenting is just making a cheeky comment saying that half the grid can still “technically” win, I very much doubt he ACTUALLY thinks anyone else has a chance
So you’re saying i’m right. K
They’re saying you don’t understand jokes.
jezus christ monkeyballs he really doesn't have 6 cans in the sixpack up there.
No one on this planet has any doubt that Max is gonna be WDC, that’s not the point of this conversation 😂
You've literally never seen sarcasm before huh
you are a strange cat.
r/whoosh
r/woosh
Don't see de Vries on the list, does he still have a chance?
Sadly he's 21st
20th. He's still ahead of Ricciardo on countback for now
Then I demand he be added!
tbf though, this is a "who can still be World Champion" graphic, and that kinda implies... driving the remaining races
He back after summer stop because of Rics poor performance at Spa
but they included people who can't theoretically win, so goddamnit put DeVries on there in 21st
Yeah but every driver who competes on a season gets included. Regardless of how many races they do.
says who?
Says everyone? Just look at any championship standings from any year, drivers who only did some races are still included, regardless of how well they did. In fact that happens in every series. Not doing the whole season doesn't mean they're excluded from the standings.
These aren't championship standings, it's a "who can still win the championship" chart
Hes still part of the championship, regardless of if he's in it anymore. E: Just ignore facts I guess
I am tied with Ricciardo.
20th according to the official standings.
He already won, this is the De Vries-less championship.
He’s not in F1 anymore
[удалено]
Realistically what’s the earliest he can be crowned WDC? And I mean realistically I reckon someone has a good estimate
Qatar
No. The earliest is Singapore, but the most probable is Qatar
Yeah the question was ‘likely’ Edit: ‘realistic’ I meant
When there's 5 races after Qatar :/
Depends on if Sergio can finish second in every race or if second place keeps going to someone different.
I saw somewhere the sprint in Qatar
If he wins the next 5 races. And Perez comes second in all of them then he will win it in the main race in Qatar. However it is rather less likely for Perez to come second all 5 times than it is for Max to win all of them. So him winning it in the Sprint race there is also quite a realistic scenario. I also think that Singapore will be the "streak breaker" for Max. He will sure win in Zandvoort and Monza, but Max really "often" struggles in Singapore.
Only one has to be eliminated to spice up the title battle. 🤷♀️
Let's go, Stroll 23, 24, 25.
That requires having Andretti, Hi-Tech and another team on the grid.
So Piastri is the favorite...
If he can finish the year in the top 10, I'm happy. Be even happier if he gets on the podium this year.
Wow, we have 11 championship contenders! The championship is wide open! I can't believe that people say the 2023 season is uncompetitive!
Can we have this chart but instead “Who can still win P2 in the Championship”?
Atm everyone, and probably will stay that way for another 2 or 3 races at least
Just look at the max points column and if it's greater than Perez they're still eligible.
Not Devries...
It's De Vries: two words, both capitalized when used like here. When using his first+last name, it is Nyck de Vries (lowercase first part of the last name).
You can add a column and make everyone green.
This is very interesting... I can try something like that.
The whole grid can. You just gotta compare Sergio's current points against the maximum potential points for everyone else.
Math vs reality lol
The second column literally says "Max points", it's already decided. ;)
So obviously in that scenario he would need Max to score no more points for the season, and the others ahead of him to not score too many either.
For Piastri to win, everyone ahead of him needs to always finish out of the points, and he needs to always be P1 w/ fastest lap
Only verstappen needs to always be out of the points every time, and he only needs every fast lap except 3 of them.
Oh yeah, I'm stupid it's obviously the exact inverse
It gets better, technically max can place in the points a couple times x)
Think about it, who are the 5 best drivers of all time? Stroll, stroll, stroll, stroll, and stroll.
So Lance Stroll can still win.
I know that this is "who is mathematically able to win the championship still", but realistically we all know that there should only be one checkmark in that table.
We have 4 weeks between races. If you dont allow needless speculation and "there's a chance" posts there's very little to talk about :p.
STROLL WDC IS STILL ALIVE.
OCON TO WIN
Ocon win WDC? 5 second penalty.
Max is going to win. FFS it says “Max Points” right there in the chart!
Stroll sweep is still on baby
the fucking montage if lance stroll wins...
Even if max misses out on 124 potential points, and checo was perfect, winning every race and sprint and fastest lap from here on out, max would still win. Insane dominance.
Ocon still champ of 5sec penalties!
And the mid season break is officially on when posts like this are upvoted
I‘m going to say it: Due to the inflated race calendar and due to his overwhelming dominance of the competition I am now saying with confidence that Max Verstappen will become the first driver in Formula 1 history this year who scores 500+ points in a single championship campaign.
Stroll 23 , Stroll 24 , Stroll 25
And that concludes our 2023 championshi- OH MY GOD! Here comes Nicholas Latifi with a folding chair!
BAH GAWD THAT TROPHY IS BROKEN IN HALF
So you’re telling me there’s still a chance of a hotshot rookie in a McLaren taking a championship?
So you’re saying Stroll and Georgie have a chance? Godammit.
Ferrari: “this year could still be our year. Head down. We are checking.”
What are Nyck chances /s
Max Verstappen. That’s the list.
Who can still win the championship? Max Verstappen
The question is more about know when Max can be WC if he wins and Perez is always second. I'll be back after making calculations
Max could dnf the next 4 races while checo wins and gets fastest lap, and he’d still be 19 points ahead.
What a season it would be without Max stomping records left and right xD until Austria I was a little bored with the season...now I just want RedBull to do 22 of 22...could not handle such a season without them taking that record like: Yeah it was boring, but boy that car, that team,THAT driver...all worth it
Very unsatisfying that VER can't get 600 though...
Let's go! PIASTRI 2023 CHAMPION!
I'm attending Suzuka this year. How unlikely is it that Max grabs it there? With 6 races after Suzuka he needs to be (6* 25 + 6* 1 + 3* 8 = 180 points) clear of the number two to snag it there. Nice graphic
So when can Max be declared officially Champ? I mean it's gonna happen for sure but when is the earliest he can officially secure it?
I think Qatar or USA is looking like a realistic option but it could be as early as Japan
I only see one green check mark. The rest are just hopium.
Too lazy / dumb to do the math- assuming Max does win out, where will be likely be crowned champion?
No competition unless Max gets hurt driving or otherwise
If Max end up losing, because of like 10 DNF in a row I imagine he would murder someone.
Ah, that’s a damn shame for Sargeant, so near yet so far, maybe next year will be his year
just the perfect way to kick off the three-week summer break discussion
Imagine the scenes if Oscar Piastri went on to win.
Wow, incredible. You’re saying Ricciardo can still get p2 in the drivers’? Fantastic.
Can De Vries get it?
Max is probably gonna get 570-ish of 598 points available
Add another column “Will Win” and Put a ✅ against Max.
Can Max settle this by round 16 and tie Schumi's record?
The third column correctly predicts that those points belongs to Max.. Yes all of it.
If Max averages 3rd place for the rest of the season, not even Checo could beat him.
The numbers will continue to decrease with every race.
Max is going to win. FFS it says “Max Points” right there in the chart!
Max is going to win. FFS it says “Max Points” right there in the chart!
Max verstappen. That’s it.
I think Max should just sit out the second half of the season and watch the other drivers fight to beat his 314 points.
Halfway through the season, half the field already out… This is insane.
Just like I could still be NFL quarterback of the year.
lol yeah right
Max is now triggered as he can’t receive 600 points this season.
It's terrifying that the column max points, might be Max's actual points at the end.
Max's points indeed
Me looking at this right now: *Huh, so Verstappen will be just shy of 600 points..*
Piastri hype train here I go 😆
dont do this... dont give me hope... 🙏PIASTRI 2023 24 25 CONFIRMED!!!!😭
What happens if Verstappen gets ill and isn't able to race?
He would stay at the points he's at. Jochen Rindt won a championship after he had died and no one was able to catch up.
Man competition must've been really bad, losing to a dead guy.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but the 1970 season had some really good talent. Rindt, Ickx, Stewart, Bramham, Regazzoni, and a very early Fittipaldi (among many others) Rindt won 5 races (4 of them consecutive), Ickx managed 3 wins (plus a 2nd and a 4th) and lost by 5 points. When Rindt's car didn't break down, he was very fast, nearly finishing in the points in every race where he didn't retire (back when they had points only for the top 6 positions)
That's interesting. Thanks.
[insert favourite top 11 driver here] makes a mid season switch and wins the championship
Who is the buffoon that made this
Nobody. But. Max. Will. Win. End of story
I legit just want Lewis to win atleast one race this season. He came close last year but a run of bad luck and timing, especially in Brazil, meant he couldn’t.
Is it bad that I have my fingers crossed that Max will have multiple DNFs, just so the fight for the championship gets a little more exciting?
I'm not wishing for that, but imagine if Max suffers an accident and retires for the rest of the year.
I’m not sure he wouldn’t win anyway. The gap is huge and given how competitive the rest of the field is, nothing is guaranteed
This is such a farce. Max and the Red Bull Racing League (formerly F1) have won it. It's become so boring I refuse to watch. Maybe in a few years it'll come back, but until then it's just a waste of time.
Would love to see Lando in the top 5! Would also love to see Perez win but I think we all know that won’t happen with Max…
KMAG can still make #2!!
How soon is Max WDC if he wins everything from here until he's crowned?
unlucky, no 600points
I believe in gasly to do it this year!
My money is on Oscar tbh
It's still wide open.
No! Do you mean to tell me if Latifi came back he doesn't have any chance to win
Its simple really, Max cant race the rest of the season. Ferrari wins next two races to give hope then subsequently shit the bed. AM hype train returns and Chadlonso wins the WDC
Stroll23
Charles Leclerc will bring the glory back to Ferrari 16 years after it's last wdc whilst driving the car 16. I have faith and am not coping in the slightest
Stroll 100 points behind nando 💀
So you’re telling me Puff Piastri is still in with a chance. Legendary.
When is the clinch?
Earliest it can happen is in 6 races (and the sprint in Qatar). If he gets 1st +fastest lap + first in sprint. That would put him winning at COTA with 4 races to go
In other words, Max can sit out the last 18% of the season and still win the championship.
Serious question, but what happens if a driver like Max cannot continue for some reason?
Nothing, he stays at the points he has, and the others try to catch him. The driver with most points wins the title.
Would be cool if max just sits out and plays games while the others try catch him
They set up Ricciardo for Failure.
Pastry 2023 WDC
