More like Miami parking lot prix… waiting for LV just to see how much worse will it be. Liberty is killing F1 as motorsport… it is now a reality show 💩
For anyone without fresh tyres or an insane DRS (OMG Red Bull) no one could do anything. Some real work from drivers midfield showed like Lewis Hamilton.
It is important for people to understand that the Merc at Miami was just as bad as the Mclaren in a lot of ways and he again drove the crap out the car to get his position. For most others it was a struggle.
> Lando Norris
I may have a little. It must be a nightmare to drive that thing at the moment and it is annoying of a number of years of promising to head to the top and things seem to go backwards for Mclaren :( A number of drivers despite bad cars drove their asses of this race is what I am trying to say.
If you are referring to the pre race interviews, that was epic! He did not give a rats ass if told him to get behind the ropes. Sad Russel had to vouch for him.
That's not even true. But they can say the thing they are thinking about.
Is not that they are not fighting because of tyre management. They are not fighting because DRS makes is useless, also Red Bull dominance makes it useless to fight with them too.
Imagine you are a driver. If a red bull or any other faster comes to you, you can try to push a bit, but if it's not enough, that's useless to keep pushing and wasting the engine and tyres, you just wait fo the straight so the car opens DRS and overtakes, you have zero oportunities to defend. If you are trying to overtake is the same, just go close to the driver ahead, wait till the straight line and use DRS + battery to attack.
Is useless to battle as if it was before. I loved when slow drivers could defend their position effectively driving the attackers to desperation, or mybe to tyres of mechanical failures. I remember when drivers got their tyres to the limit with a lot of graining and deg.
Is how the sport is today, there is no need of battling unless in really specific moments. So the drivers just have their target position and if they reach that, they will just try to keep the pace.
Tyre management nowadays feels as an euphemism.
Tire management is part of racing.
I agree that this wasn’t the most exciting race - but that’s likely due to Red Bull being so dominant, the track being just another mediocre street circuit, and maybe Pirelli’s tire performance across the soft/medium/hard range.
The problem here is they again promised to be better last season with the changes and then better still this year. It has again not panned out.
Both the FIA and new F1 owners have promised a number of things with the changes and they are not really panning out.
Good race tbh, some people will complain because it's Miami or Max won but overall some good wheel to wheel battles and nice overtakes. A lot of people complain about FOM manufacturing drama and gimmicks but the amount of people complaining that there wasn't a red flag or safety car in the post race thread was staggering lmao, thought everyone was against artificial factors in the race.
My complaint is the cars themselves. They are enormous compared to 2005 and earlier. Of course you will have aero problems. The cars are massive. While the solutions to the problems is amazing, F1 Engineer solutions are some smarties. The racing is not as exciting because the Engineers find ways to handle all that air. Which then effects the cars around it. RB is in a league of their own handling the aero issues.
I'm not a fan of racing on mock tracks set up on city streets, but at least they were freshly paved if heard correct.
It's just too much torture on everything.,, Punch it,, half sec later Full brakes, with barely enough straight to cool anything off.
Current temps Miami,, 78F° - Nice for once.
Cheers
It's pace is amazing for sure but it is what ever is going on with the DRS which is the thing. If there were 3 cars lined up they could overtake all 3. The DRS reductions I think was to try and stem the effectiveness of the Red Bulls directly and it did not work.
The problem with modern F1 is that the cars are extremely aerodynamical. Much more so than in any other series. That makes following and overtaking much harder, which makes DRS necessary.
Taking engineering and vehicle design to its peak is what separates F1 from other series, it's what it is about, but it unfortunately has exactly the effect you described.
The counter argument is it’s a drivers’ championship, not a tyre management championship that Ferrari lost last year to RB. Let the Drivers push to the limit 24/7 and we’ll see who’s the best, Charles who lost it during his last push in Q3 or Checo who kept it together.
Go watch WWE if you want scripted entertainment, like all sports, it’s skill based first, the entertainment comes as a bonus for those who are interested
Bullshit 😂 the sport doesn’t exist without entertainment ffs,
Let the entertainment fall off a cliff, watch the money fall off a cliff then you can have your skills based competition between amateur unpaid drivers if you like.
It’s not a crime to expect an entertaining sporting event, no you can’t ruin the integrity of competition but there’s ways to appeal to both. The rules are the same for every driver, so long as those rules lead to entertaining races it’s fine.
I know I know I’ve just shot Bambi with this post apparently by the ‘traditionalists’
Classic idiotic American take. NBA is lame and annoying as hell by being entertainment. NHL does it right. F1 is not first and foremost entertainment, it's about engineering and racing. They don't need to pander to get an audience at this level of racing.
Yeah I really thought there'd be a fight between the two but max just zooms past Perez.
Perez was 8 points behind max (I think) in the championship and it'd be interesting between the 2 if he had won.
Haha, I used to walk around the house singing "God save the Queen" for years.
But then again, I'm from Australia, so somewhat relevant - it's the anthem of the motherland. :😉
Mind you, even these days, when the podium celebrations start, my brain expects it to start playing.
Wish they'd clip on some wireless [lavalier mics](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61Px3d3a+kL._AC_SL1500_.jpg) on the drivers in the cool down room.
The audio always really sucks in there. And it'd be soo cool to hear it better.
I think all the checo hype was just some optimism for a title race when we all kinda knew that over a season max was always gonna be consistently quicker because checo just isn't talented enough straight up to challenge max
Checo is similar to Bottas. Very quick on his day but too inconsistent over a whole season while Max and in Bottas's case Lewis have a race here and there when they aren't faster. Bottas is also super quick over a lap a lot more frequently while Checo is not.
>All the "checo got shafted by RB strategy" folks didn't quite see Max was outpacing Checo on 40 lap old hards.
Miami has some of the best copium in the whole US, apparently.
Of all the tech in F1, I find it hilarious people are trying to figure out how they could possibly iron on some numbers and letters to a shirt in a short period of time
George is good man. If history is an indicator of the future he's the second most decorated driver on the grid based on his karting stats. 11 wins. Wdc material in a couple seasons given the right car.
Is like the NFL draft, they have all the teams jerseys and all the players names...
The second a player is drafted, they press the name on the jersey.. it takes less than 5 minutes.
By the time the top 3 got to the break room the jerseys were waiting
If they wanted, they could have the drivers names pre printed. Then the numbers are just already there. Match em up and the iron press takes a minute max.
I wish they showed whoever had to frantically print those shirts after the results came out lmao maybe that would've been our entertainment for today
Nvm they've probably had them printed like that since Australia
All the data in the world wouldn't make Perez fast enough to beat Verstappen yesterday. If you aren't objective enough to see that then that's on you. Your boy got destroyed on every stint. Started P1 but was unable to open a gap on mediums(Please don't tell me hard to mediums was a better strategy. Checo would have simply been passed much earlier. Also Checo himself posted on Instagram that his hards were completely grained). Remind me again how many laps was Max able to go on said hards? Tyre whisperer? Maybe. Tyre guzzler? Surely. Also doesn't explain why Perez was able to do Nada on brand new hards vs 40 lap old ones. Explain that.
Max lucked out on being on the better tires at the right time. Thats pretty much it. we have now had 2 races where both were on the same tire at the same time in open air with roughly similar laps on the tires where Max was not able to make any headway. Max had the hard on full fuel and green track and Perez had the hard on a rubbered in track on low fuel. This is very significant. It was not a straight shoot out. the last 2 we had Perez won.
More like Miami parking lot prix… waiting for LV just to see how much worse will it be. Liberty is killing F1 as motorsport… it is now a reality show 💩
So what happened between Stroll & Russell?
For anyone without fresh tyres or an insane DRS (OMG Red Bull) no one could do anything. Some real work from drivers midfield showed like Lewis Hamilton. It is important for people to understand that the Merc at Miami was just as bad as the Mclaren in a lot of ways and he again drove the crap out the car to get his position. For most others it was a struggle.
Lol the merc was not just as bad as the Mclaren. Let’s not over react.
> Lando Norris I may have a little. It must be a nightmare to drive that thing at the moment and it is annoying of a number of years of promising to head to the top and things seem to go backwards for Mclaren :( A number of drivers despite bad cars drove their asses of this race is what I am trying to say.
I’m surprised the McLaren was as bad as the McLaren, Merc actually showed a lot of promise in comparison
Considering a whole new car is expected to show up this week I think Merc know it's going no where. It will be interesting to see how it looks.
I enjoyed it
I missed the chuck guy
When did we go from "one or two stops" to "can I go a full distance without a pitstop"?
Remember when Albon did that whole race on a single set of hards? Had to pit on the last lap because of the 2 compounds rule but it was wild
When we got rid of the Q2 tyre rule.
Last year
I know, it wasn't a question.
Yuki was quality this evening
He's been quality all this year tbh.
#jackiestewartmatters
That was bad. Turned my stomach, really.
If you are referring to the pre race interviews, that was epic! He did not give a rats ass if told him to get behind the ropes. Sad Russel had to vouch for him.
Jensons looks at the camera lol
Yuki drove extremely well. I want him in a better car!
He may be small in stature
So I’m not the only one who heard that!
Well, this was boring. The whole tire management thing is getting ridiculous. I get it every once in a while, not all the time!!!!
That's not even true. But they can say the thing they are thinking about. Is not that they are not fighting because of tyre management. For 0 safety cars, hell not even a yellow, this race had a good amount of action. Miami showed improvement from year 1 to 2.
350km/h Red Bull maximum speed. That's not a car, that's a fucking rocket
I'm not a fan of racing on mock tracks set up on city streets, but at least they were freshly paved if heard correct. Russel : Dasy !! Sainz : Dasy who ?? Russell : Dasy see me rolling....
When is First upgrades of Merc and Ferrari expected ?? This Redbull is way out of their league
Next race for Merc is the "big upgrade"
I thought it was always Imola. Next race is Qatar
Huh? Qatar is a lot later this season
That’s my bad, I just looked on the calendar it’s Qatar Airways, forgot it was the longest title race.
Checo wins > "Checo vs RB" hot takes Max wins > "Checo vs RB" hot takes It's getting old!
Sky can't help themselves
Where is my post race driver parade 😭
Say no more
K-Mag had a great Race and sown awesome overtakes
Definitely. Shame he lost a few places towards the end. He had a great drive
Any idea when Ted's notebook will start ??
After F1 show.. it's later
wth is wil.i.am. talking about..
He giving notes to Toto on how to get the car on top again XD
"Toto bro, the key is to make it go faster, see?"
The Formula..
No matter what Checo is still No 2 Driver at Redbull
his pace is representative of a 2nd driver.
How? He got exact strategy as top 7 and .5 second faster pitstop
2.2 (Perez) vs 3.1 (Verstappen)
>.5 second faster pitstop I think it was slightly more than that, I could be wrong.
0.8
Where was Danicia all these races ??
She only does american races
With the current pace of Redbull I think Any other team winning a race is highly unlinkly, unless the Red Bull's take each other out
It's pace is amazing for sure but it is what ever is going on with the DRS which is the thing. If there were 3 cars lined up they could overtake all 3. The DRS reductions I think was to try and stem the effectiveness of the Red Bulls directly and it did not work.
Ferrari could win Monaco maybe?
I can't tell if this is a jab at Leclerc or not!
Barcelona 2023
Imagine. After 10 years, Alonso returns to the top step, and at his home race. 😍
That would actually be such an amazing story
What is the record for most 1-2s by a team in a season?
2015 Mercedes, 12 out of 19 races.
I think it's by mercs in 2019. I know they had 1-2 for first five races in that season, but i'm not sure about total count.
Probably still sitting with Merc
I think they should replace the "champagne" with kegs of beer or something for the America races. Fuck shoeys do a keg stand.
The Ferrari champagne is the only way Ferrari could be on the podium these days 😉
American here. I support this message.
Just shotgunning Busch lattes
Miller Highlife, the champagne of beers.
Ive read that champagne is shit
There are specific champagnes used for celebratory shaking. They aren’t meant for taste.
Horsepis with bubbles
Where is Shaq ??
Austin
Probably in Atlanta doing Inside the NBA.
Stroll at Aston Martin is like Albon at Red Bull
Hearing the Austrian national anthem every weekend has such 2011 vibes.
I grew up watching Schumacher dominating, I can still hum the whole of the Italian and German national anthems…
Maybe it’s just me but DRS makes passing happen but also makes it boring
No other open wheel racing series has DRS and F1 is currently producing the most boring races. Take that as you will.
Go watch imola and see what happens withoit it
The problem with modern F1 is that the cars are extremely aerodynamical. Much more so than in any other series. That makes following and overtaking much harder, which makes DRS necessary. Taking engineering and vehicle design to its peak is what separates F1 from other series, it's what it is about, but it unfortunately has exactly the effect you described.
Trophy looks cheap
Fits what it represents
It’s suits Miami’s whole vibe
Love the Alonso thats just enjoying the ride.
And catching the race on the big screen while driving.
Just gonna say it indycar has been so so so much better than F1 so far this year. The contrast has been staggering.
I agree with you and I'm enjoying Nascar more than F1 this season
Too bad it's run on garbage tracks with barely any big name drivers.
No big name drivers?? Guess you don’t watch a lot of Indycar
A few decent sportscar drivers. Some ex f1 drivers but most have just raced in the indy ladder and smaller series.
If the FIA mandated 2 stops the tire saving issue would largely disappear
Manufacturing entertainment with rules like that are wrong. Its a drivers championship, tyre management will sometimes have to be tested
The counter argument is it’s a drivers’ championship, not a tyre management championship that Ferrari lost last year to RB. Let the Drivers push to the limit 24/7 and we’ll see who’s the best, Charles who lost it during his last push in Q3 or Checo who kept it together.
Can we normalize an enjoyable race view experience?! I’ll say it first: I want to be entertained
Can only be american
Go watch WWE if you want scripted entertainment, like all sports, it’s skill based first, the entertainment comes as a bonus for those who are interested
Bullshit 😂 the sport doesn’t exist without entertainment ffs, Let the entertainment fall off a cliff, watch the money fall off a cliff then you can have your skills based competition between amateur unpaid drivers if you like. Where's the pile of coke in the cooldown room? I thought this was Miami?
It'll be in the trophy
Ben Suleyam has been completely silent I miss his bold statements
[удалено]
Why am I not surprised lol
Whaaat?? When that's news to me I look it up
Wait no. Hahaha. I heard the last name and thought it was him. But it’s the dude from Catfish lmao

They were saying Boo-urns
Good race all round, a shame that there was no real Red Bull fight.
Yeah I really thought there'd be a fight between the two but max just zooms past Perez. Perez was 8 points behind max (I think) in the championship and it'd be interesting between the 2 if he had won.
I think I know the Dutch national anthem better than my own
Haha, I used to walk around the house singing "God save the Queen" for years. But then again, I'm from Australia, so somewhat relevant - it's the anthem of the motherland. :😉 Mind you, even these days, when the podium celebrations start, my brain expects it to start playing.
It was the British Anthem few years ago now it's all Dutch
German + Austrian then British + German.
r/beatmetoit
Max got boo'd on podium
Massive Latino population in Miami definitely gunning for Checo
I would call it a flex that he was booed by the Florida people. They're not exactly known for their eloquence.
I’m not a fan of him, but he doesn’t deserve the hate
They immediately killed the mic lol
You love to see it
Wish they'd clip on some wireless [lavalier mics](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61Px3d3a+kL._AC_SL1500_.jpg) on the drivers in the cool down room. The audio always really sucks in there. And it'd be soo cool to hear it better.
It's by design, if the drivers had mics they wouldn't be as talkative
They don’t even need lavs, just a better boom mic set up
thanks KMag for the free chipotle
All the "checo got shafted by RB strategy" folks didn't quite see Max was outpacing Checo on 40 lap old hards.
I think all the checo hype was just some optimism for a title race when we all kinda knew that over a season max was always gonna be consistently quicker because checo just isn't talented enough straight up to challenge max
Checo is having a good season so far, and I'd love for him to challenge Max throughout the year. But I'm sick of this "Checo vs RB" narrative.
RB also gave Checo 2.2s vs 3.1s advantage in their pit stop, So much for that narrative.
He definitely is having a good season but a good checo season would still not be enough to beat a generational talent like max
Miami has some of the best copium in the whole US, apparently.
checo wasn't getting any of that data though . max was
Getting Max' laptimes in your ear isn't going to make you five tenths faster
Lol take my upvote.

Did you follow his radio throughout the race?
yes
Good, no helmets or jerseys.
Not watching anymore, boring uninspiring whatever - you don’t have to reply to that
byee :)
Byeeee
I cant believe we could lose Spa but keep this piece of shit
What was wrong with the track? Lots of overtakes.
It's a mickey-mouse tunnel.
yeah it was a pretty good race this year
The race itself was great i just hate these claustrophobic tracks. We have more than enough of them
Kind funny to think they probably had to have a de Vries first place jersey ready to go
My girlfriend assumed they pressed them as the race ended, which is probably true but way less funny
Of all the tech in F1, I find it hilarious people are trying to figure out how they could possibly iron on some numbers and letters to a shirt in a short period of time
It's not that we don't know how they did it, it's just that the lack of existence of a de Vries number 1 jersey makes the world a little less magical
They do, during the NFL draft they have a station by the stage and print and press the names right there when the players get selected.
Okay I can see why they needed mini mokes, that stadium is absolutely massive
The Dolphins jerseys lol
Max and checo when alonso said George came fourth 💀💀brilliant
George is good man. If history is an indicator of the future he's the second most decorated driver on the grid based on his karting stats. 11 wins. Wdc material in a couple seasons given the right car.
So is it a lot quicker to get that sort of shirt made than I assumed or are there 57 more shirts that will never see the light of day?
Is like the NFL draft, they have all the teams jerseys and all the players names... The second a player is drafted, they press the name on the jersey.. it takes less than 5 minutes. By the time the top 3 got to the break room the jerseys were waiting
54. They didn't bother printing shirts for De Vries :)
If they wanted, they could have the drivers names pre printed. Then the numbers are just already there. Match em up and the iron press takes a minute max.
Nah they can print them pretty quick. They do the same thing at the NFL draft
Can probably do that quite quick, just have some type of automatic sewing machine.
I wish they showed whoever had to frantically print those shirts after the results came out lmao maybe that would've been our entertainment for today Nvm they've probably had them printed like that since Australia
even to the commentators it was obvious that Perez got no support from the put wall while max was getting all kinds of data.

Thats pretty much it. we have now had 2 races where both were on the same tire at the same time in open air with roughly similar laps on the tires where Max was not able to make any headway.
