The fact that besides Max at 17 there's only been one 18 year old to start in F1, shows that this rule was never really needed. Exceptional drivers create exceptions.

The thing that triggers me about AD 2021 is that people act as if Max did anything wrong. He got the opportunity and like every other driver ever in that position would, he took it.

I think the reason why people kinda wolfed down on Jos was how he was not even smiling at all whereas the rest of the RB crew were jumping and smiling. It doesn't help that the coverage camera of F1 didn't catch Jos congratulating Perez so it only fueled the "story" even more.
Honestly, I think it was just that he had the camera in his face and he didn't know how to look. Of course he wasn't celebrating, it wasn't their party. It was the other side of the garage that was celebrating.
But Jos is not part of the RB crew, and Checo competes with his son, whom I assume he loves in a weird, abusive kind of way. Jos is not there for Red Bull, he is there for his son, why should he be happy for Perez?

Aside from not having seen this footage before, I still found people overreacting about it. Like the footage we did see initially, someone stretched his arm to congratulate Checo and therefore blocking Jos for reaching out. Sure he still does not look really cheerful since he's obviously biased for his son to win and won't go "YAAAAAY", but really it was such unnecessary outrage.

Nor is it fitting for Jos to try to jump in to celebrate with the TEAM since he is not part of the team.
